Wow, I wonder if this is going to bluntly rip off At the Gates like their last album did.
| | | Well all i can say Wizard is if you think that then you need to learn to respect a good band when you see one. I have listened to every single At The Gates album, and no At The Gates album can compare to The Absence' first album.
So please, just because you respect a great older melodic death band. Doesn't mean you can try something new.
I'm tired of so many people whining on this site. Someone in every topic has to cry about it like you. I for one can't wait for this new album it's going to be amazing. This Message Edited On 03.25.07
| | | How can you say that The Absenses last album did not sound like a crappy ripoff of Slaughter of the Soul. I just gave my two cents about what Ive heard from this band. They are nothing special. And yes I do try listen to new bands everyday. Maybe it is you who should listen to more metal because I know myself that I am well educated in the world of metal. Than you wont frown on people who bash mediocre bands like this. Plus its a difference of opinion dude! If you dont like the whining on this site, than stop whining about us whiners!
| | | shut up both of you you like the band he doesn't the argument will not go anywhere
| | | True to that Altmer! I simply put in my 2 cents and got bashed for it! End of story!
| | | I don't mean to sound like an asshole, but where in my post did i bash you?
Also, if you didn't notice what you called bashing was my "two cents" on this band. This Message Edited On 03.28.07
| | | Sorry dude, bashing is such a harsh word. I just reacted differently to your opinion and forgot that my opinion isnt the worlds. Cheers. This Message Edited On 03.30.07
| | | In a way, I think you are both right. If ATG were still together today, their sound would have progressed to that of The Absence. Either way, I hold both bands in high esteem and mentioning one in the same sentence with the other is a compliment to both. You must admit, even if you don't like The Absence, if you had to pick a band to "bluntly rip off" ATG, they would be the best choice.
| | | ZooYorker6,
You are right and I would choose this band if I wanted to hear some covers of ATG. However, bluntly ripping off another artist (especially an obvious idol) makes the band sound really unoriginal. Thats just my opinion on the matter.
| | | Here are my two cents. I'm a big fan of the last album, regardless of its roots/influences. I doesn't need to be groundbreaking to sound like great metal to me. Moreover, the new track posted on the band's myspace page is pretty sick too. They really have a nice tight and heavy rhythm attack anchoring their sound. Looking forward to the new album.
