Picking the former Disturbed front-man to produce was the worst idea ever. This band has regressed so much. :-(
| |
I think they made it free cuz they knew no one would buy it
| |
Considering how most of the class of 2004-2007 have declined in recent years, Trivium are still probably one of the better bands.
| |
I think they made it free cuz they knew no one would buy it
That's clearly not why they made it a free download.
| |
pretty much the only way i'll listen to a trivium song
| |
Song is fine. A bit simplistic and radio friendly for my liking though.
Couldn't careless about Trivium post Shogun.
| |
"I think they made it free cuz they knew no one would buy it"
Haha :]
| |
Does anybody else think that it actually sounds like Disturbed in the verses?
| |
Yeah, it totally does
| |
lol this band
| |
might actually have to pay me to download this one
| |
Trivium fanboy checking in
I fucking love this
| |
Anyways, it basically sounds exactly like anything from In Waves. They haven't evolved at all since then, which is a shame because all of their previous albums were a step in a different direction. It was decent, but not one of their more impressive songs.
| |
Well...this sucked.
| |
Sounds like a cross between Disturbed and All That Remains
| |
Agreed that this sucks
| |
Wasn't too bad. Sounds like something off In Waves. I'd say that their days of making albums like Shogun are behind them, unfortunately. Song was still catchy though.
| |
EEEN WAAAAIVZ
| |
EEEN WAAAAIVZ
| |
"Free Trivium Song"
Still too expensive
| |
^I lol'd
| |
"Still too expensive" HA
Also this sounds just like a Disturbed song so I'm glad that Draiman's not having too much of an influence. [/sarcasm]
| |
wow this sucks, Draiman's led them to ruin
| |
Band sucked before Draiman. Last album was so boring.
| |
First he sounded like Hetfield... Now Draiman... WTF... So much talent wasted in shit...
| |
He sounds like a retarded cross of David Draiman and Corey Taylor through the whole thing. The Stone Sour influence here is so high
| |
im a huge trivium fan, but this was the most disappointing. i was hoping draiman wouldnt influence them too much.. but looks like that has backlashed. sigh... ill go listen to shogun again
| |
i am rather surprised that so many people actually care about this band
| |
i had a lot of fun with in waves so im still looking forward to this
| |
pretty much the only way i'll listen to a trivium song
I still won't probably listen. At least in full
| |
Sounds like a The Crusade B-side to me. Not really hearing the Disturbed influence.
| |
Trivium is so based.
| |
Sounds too... basic and formulaic, like anything from In Waves. Boring
| |
God this is awful they should pay us to download it
| |
The way he sing ''brave this storm'' sounds so much like Draiman. I didn't hate the song but it's pretty boring.
| |
Most audible bass they ever had. Could
be better then In Waves actually.
| |
I hope that this song is the "built to fall" of the album and we get some other cool songs. If they could do an album with a few In Waves-esque straightforward songs with the technical ability displayed on shogun, that'd be great. Throw a few Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis in there and we're good
| |
Sounds like a thrash Nickelback. And it does also sound like Disturbed a bit.
Production also feels really weird.
| |
wow all that potential ascendancy showed is well and truly goooooone
| |
and i stopped cynic for that shit
| |
A free trivium song is not unlike an STD.
| |
fuck this sucks and im actually a fan of these guys. that verse/chorus was cheesy as hell.
| |
Step down from In Waves, which itself was a step down from Shogun. Not completely terrible by any means but boring.
Sweet album art though, honestly
| |
These lyrics are definitely the worst they've ever had
| |
Sweet album art though [2]
| |
I was expecting a piece of shit after all of the crying and bitching about how bad this song is. I actually think it's a pretty decent.
| |
For fucks sake. Sounds like Disturbed and their last album.
Was shogun released by a different band or something? Shogun kicked ass and this is shit.
| |
I actually liked parts of In Waves, but can't be arsed to check this; life's too short for listening to average bands
| |
There were some good songs but it was pretty crap tbh.
| |
True, I liked Forsake Not the Dream and A Skyline's Severance a lot though. The rest was either ok or forgettable
| |
Caustic are the Ties was p good. Perhaps their old drummer had more of an influence of their material than once thought.
| |
Loved it. Gonna love this.
| |
Needs more skramz.
| |
what do you guys think it was like during the recording sessions
cut cut cut. i want you to say it like this...
| |
well, that was shit. Shame.
| |
"

"
Why are you on this thread then
| |
Step down from Shogun.
| |
Song leans towards a bit more towards groove than before, especially in the verse.
| |
Can't sound like Disturbed there's no animal noises
| |
oh man lol
| |
yeah I lost interest after Shogun. they were one of the first "heavier" bands I started listening to in my early teens though. So will probably give the new album a quick runthrough for nostalgia's sake and curiosity
| |
metal m/
| |
Ember>Shogun>Ascendancy>The Crusade = In Waves
| |
Could have been worse I suppose.
| |
Not a fan of this at all. Sounds really bad tbh. The new vocal style is the worst part of it
| |
Yeah, that sounded crazy like Disturbed. Kinda for the worse though. In Waves was pretty cool...I hope this track wasn't a representation for the rest of the album.
| |
wow, this is so bad rofl.
| |
Not sure why Matt would try to emulate Draiman's vocals (even with him producing it) but the song is solid enough.
| |
The song was decent, but nothing exciting. However, Heafy has been wearing a bunch of black metal shirts (I.e. Emperor) and there's a video of Heafy covering Opeth's Harvest, so I still have my optimism.
| |
so is it a thing to be nu-metal revival now or what
| |
I thought it was pretty good. Not one of their best songs, but its got some cool rhythms, riffs, and solos. I think the weakest part were the clean vocals. Heafy sounds fine, but I think the melodies aren't very memorable. I predict this will be on par with the average songs on the album. There will be worse tracks, but there will also be wayy better tracks.
| |
My biggest hope is that this is just the single off the album. It sounds a lot like Black and Built to Fall...Trivium was one of my first "heavier" bands, and I've moved onto a lot better stuff, but I can't help but follow them and get excited for the new album.
My last hope is that the rest of the album will be heavier since Matts been wearing a lot of black metal shit, and is obsessed with In Flames/Opeth.
| |
Welp, just heard their song Strife - Trivium is over.
| |
Band sucks. Go home.
| |
2011's In Waves set extremely high with its innovative and inventive approach to the Florida quartet's patented infectious thrash. However, Vengeance Falls is shaping up to be a game-changer for not only the group but the entire genre.
The opening track kicks off with a neck-snapping six-string stomp galloping along with a pummeling double bass groove. Everything turns on a dime into a staggering groove swinging and out like a seesawing sledgehammer. Frontman Matt Heafy's snarl on the verse injects real venom into the assault before leading into an immediately irresistible refrain—"I don't think I can ever brave this storm".
Of course, everything spirals out into a mind-numbing salvo of leads worthy of shred history. David Draiman captured the band at their fiercest and most focused.
Every metal band experiences a moment that turns the tides when they launch to the top; this belongs to Trivium.
| |
Very meh. I don't really have any hopes nor care for this, but hopefully the rest of the songs are better.
