Yeah the video is like a lesser version of Whiskey in the Jar. And yeah, this song is apparently pretty deep.

the song is "deep," but it seems to be just about how god isn't real so you should just live your life. and the people in the video are definitely living their lives and having a good time. most of the tracks on the album are about suicide so yeah this would have been weird if it were another song.

Mine's PBR On Ice but this is a close second.

First of all, way too much slow-mo in the band, especially the vocalist. Also, I feel the song has a very philosophical premise, that basically there is no need to look for God because "I found beauty right here and a passion to give," underlying a metaphysical purpose found in an everyday setting. I like the song, and the lyrics to this album highlight a certain maturity these guys show.

But in terms of the video, I guess I'm just disappointed that "beauty" seems to be watching scantily clad women beat each other with pillows and make out, while "passion" is drinking a lot and doing stupid things.

Yeah they definitely cut out pretty much all the emotion from this song with this new video. Open Letter by itself or the live video really does hit hard emotionally though.
