I have a soft spot for this band
|
| |
SO FUCKING GOOD
|
| |
I have a soft spot for this band [2|
|
| |
I have a hard on for this band
|
| |
these guys are usually pretty decent
|
| |
Soft Spots & Hard Ons
I also enjoy this band. Very consistent. The sound hasn't changed much between this and Rescue... but when it's this solid and catchy, it doesn't really have to.
|
| |
ehh, not bad.
|
| |
One of my most anticipated albums of 2013
|
| |
I fucking love Silverstein.
|
| |
That was fucking dreadful guys what the hell's going on? why doesn't everyone agree with me this is hurting my feelings.
Anyways it sounds like a Silverstein song circa 2004 (or whenerver the hell that waterfront album came out) but it's 2013 so that isn't a good thing.
|
| |
Solid song. Solid band. Well, except for that one album but anyway I can't wait to listen to the whole album.
|
| |
Shut up, James
|
| |
That was much better then I was expecting.
|
| |
Make it a link. C'mon.
Don't make us fucking copy-paste like savages.
|
| |
Make it a link. C'mon.
Don't make us fucking copy-paste like savages.
Forgot that was possible lol.
|
| |
Silverstein rules so hard.
|
| |
all i listened to in grade 7 8 and 9
|
| |
How's grade 10 going anyways?
|
| |
that was catchy
|
| |
Sounds like a Silverstein song. Solid track, just nothing new.
|
| |
Cool, looking forward to the new album now; hopefully it hits right before summer.
|
| |
It will be out way before summer
|
| |
Feb 5
|
| |
Thanks, just went and looked it up; most likely will buy day of release.
|
| |
wow a song about running away to california. how original.
|
| |
Have you listened to the radio lately? This might as well be genius!
I'd love to have bands like this on the radio again.
|
| |
they fucking rule, so stocked for this
|
| |
This will be pretty sweeet
|
| |
was just jamming shipwreck earlier in the night while cruising with some friends
these dudes are one of my favorites of their genre/respective scene. right up there with the likes
of
senses fail
I have a feeling this album is going to be their best since discovering
"Anyways it sounds like a Silverstein song circa 2004 (or whenerver the hell that waterfront album
came out) but it's 2013 so that isn't a good thing."
Although I disagree considering the vocals have improved immensely as have other aspects of their
music, them releasing an album in the vein of discovering the waterfront is a good thing.
|
| |
Decent song.
|
| |
post-hardcorers
|
| |
It's pretty good, catchy, who honestly begrudges people fun choruses still?
|
| |
Never cared much about this band. They were one of those groups for the so cal emos of the mid 00's that I tried to avoid.
|
| |
"post-hardcorers"[2]
|
| |
post-hardcorers [3]
|
| |
It sounds very similar to some of their other songs, but it's still pretty good.
|
| |
Song is alright.
|
| |
Sounds ok, but nothing outstanding about it.
|
| |
sounds like silverstein, which is fine
|
| |
First album I've pre-ordered this year! One of my favourite bands
|
| |
considering the vocals have improved immensely
Yeah, there is a noticeable difference between this track and Rescue, especially with the screams.
|
| |
One of the most consistent bands of this style.
|
| |
fuck i thought this said shel silverstein song
really disappointed
|
| |
Digging the vocals. Sounds like Silverstein, yes, with an improvement vocally and instrumentally.
|
| |
who the fuck still cares about this band
|
| |
Didn't these guys JUST release an album?
|
| |
like 2 years ago i think. so no.
|
| |
i care
|
| |
completely agree with your previous comment Hospital
|
| |
I care [3]
|
| |
oh my god so gooooooooood!!
|
| |
They're still making music? Good for them. Not many Post-Hardcore bands can last this long.
Great song too. They used to play shows around here a lot when they were new-ish. So its mandatory to like this band where I live.
|
| |
Never really cared for these guys that much. Will listen to it later.
|
| |
This is pretty good. I really like those verse guitar riffs. I think the cleans are sounding a little better than previous albums too.
|
| |
really liking this
|
| |
Want to rollerblade to this.
|
| |
Fuckin sick song
|
| |
funny how I didn't like bands like this when I was younger (middle school/high). but now I like them.
|
| |
I quite enjoy this song. Still prefer em with all clean vox though
|
| |
Still need to give that album a go.
|
| |
discovering the waterfront isn't that great but ok
|
| |
haven't heard the rest but yeah it's decent 3.5/5
|
| |
no way
i don't dig the screams
it's too poppy for them. it's an unpleasant contrast
|
| |
but the screams on this track are actually pretty well-placed so maybe not
idk I just didn't think it was that great, and I'm not sure I'll ever listen to it enough to articulate why
|
| |
discoveirng is by far their best work, they don't have anything that really compares
and i like shipwreck and rescue
broken to me is like their "depths and dreams" those vocals are so bad but still enjoyable imo
|
| |
The vocals on their first album are pretty bad. I can't really listen to it anymore, lol.
Agree with toxin. Discovering is about a 3.5. I don't think any of their stuff is above a 3.5 though.
|
| |
discovering the waterfront is overrated.
but yeah so fucking stoked for this album.
|
| |
this song rules
but it feels closer to pop punk than post hardcore honestly
suits me well though
|
| |
They are pretty good at making post hardcore songs of the catchy like and nature. I think this is when they are at their best. They have some decently heavy songs that work really well too, but I don't like it as much when they do just the pop-rock like songs. They never grab my attention as much as the others.
The song does indeed rule though. I think I like it even more than when I first listened to it.
|
| |
both songs that were released so far rule
|
| |
"They are pretty good at making post hardcore songs of the catchy like and nature. I think this is when they are at their best. I'm not sure where this song lies on that spectrum but this is perfect for me.
|
| |
I just re-listened to the other song, Atari. It's pretty good too, but I think I like this one better.
I would say this is a fantastic mix of catchy with the post hardcore. I don't know how familiar you are with their other stuff toxin, but it kind of reminds me of songs like Your Sword Versus My Dagger, If You Could See Into My Soul and Texas Mickey.
|
| |
really digging massachusetts
anybody know where this might be streaming?
|
| |
not streaming but leaked. if you talk about the album.
|
| |
damn i don't even download shit
|
| |
try spotify!
|
| |
allleaks.org
|
| |
okay i'll find it lol i'm planning on reviewing the album it's my most anticipated of 2013 besides senses fail
|
| |
both will rule.
|
| |
Fuckin Misery Signals too.
|
| |
it's their best album since "waterfront" and maybe their most mature one.
really like it even if i couldnt be arsed for everything they did after waterfront. this is really an exception.
|
| |
I think most their albums are just as impressive as waterfront but I'm not gonna have that argument again lol
|
| |
The only bad album they put out was Arrivals And Departures.
|
| |
Gonna pick this and Conduit up when I get off work Tuesday. It gonna be a good day.
|
| |
they wore out so fast. cant listen to anything except waterfront. this is different as i said
|
| |
has so much strong songs, which can be considered as their best. for example the so fucking catchy track "a better place"
|
| |
ALBUM RULES!!!
|
| |
album is streaming on spotify.
|
| |
link?
|
| |
albums ok i guess, I remember why i never gave them a chance before now.
|
| |
calc take that back lol this album fucking rules
|
| |
"link?"
just search silverstein on spotify
|
| |
Album sounds a lot like Rescue and Shipwreck so far. These guys just don't want to stray far from their comfort zone. I feel like they are capable of more.
|
| |
2nd song sort of reminds me of Thrice with less dynamic songwriting
Still I like it so far, granted I'm on the 3rd song and I've heard 2 out of 3 already lol
|
| |
It's not bad, just more of the same. One of the reasons I tend to wait and buy their stuff when it's on sale. I was planning on buying this when it came out based on the two released songs, but I am not so sure now...
Maybe a few more listens before Tuesday will help.
I do see a bit of the Thrice comparison on track 2.
|
| |
You're right though, I think some of these later songs are just a bit more stale than the earlier tracks. And the ballads or whatever don't do anything for me, though they generally take longer to sink in anyways.
|
| |
I love California and Massachusetts.
Maybe the band should just release a concept album based on the 50 states
|
| |
lol, there's an idea
I wonder if there is something bigger going on with the lyrics. Someone pointed this out on the other "New Silverstein Song" thread with the song titles:
1 & 8: Stand Amid the Roar In a Place of Solace
2 & 9: On Brave Mountains We Conquer In Silent Seas We Drown
3 & 10: Massachusetts California
4 & 11: This Is How The Wind Shifts
5 & 12: A Better Place to Live and to Lose
6 & 13: Hide Your Secrets With Second Chances
7 & 14: Arrivals & Departures
What do you think? It seems interesting and intentional. I also noticed the Arrivals & Departures tracks (one of their older albums), as well as 4 and 11 which is this album title put together. Still, an interesting lyrical concept won't really save the same old, same old musical formula they appear to be abusing here.
|
| |
I'm about 100% sure that has to have been intentional.
It's a pretty cool lyrical concept. And honestly I don't mind the safeness of the music (though again it's all new to me anyways)
This is probably a 4 for me, higher than Waterfront.
|
| |
That's cool. Like I said, I think it's very similar to the last two (Rescue and Shipwrecks). I think Waterfront is a lot darker and has an overall heavier sound than their other stuff (which is probably the reason you like this more). They kind of started a somewhat new formula with Shipwreck, splitting up post hardcore with some more pop/rock stuff that still has a post hardcore tinge on it. They just repeated it with Rescue and now it feels like they did it again here.
|
| |
The poppy direction would definitely explain why I prefer this to Waterfront.
|
| |
Actually, you might check out Arrivals and Departures since you are less on the screaming stuff. I would say it is their poppiest record to date. Songwriting seemed a lil lazy on it to me, but it still has some good songs. You can tell they were trying to get a more accessible sound and maybe widen their fanbase. It didn't work out very well and a lot of people didn't like it. Shipwreck went back to a heavier sound, but still kept some of that more pop/rock aspect they were trying for in A&D. All my opinions though...
I really like this song from it if you want to check it out:

|
| |
See what I mean, toxin?
|
| |
andcas wouldn't hate something for being poppy.
Anyways surprisingly I do like some of the screams, but it just depends on how they're done. Incidentally I'm not a huge fan of the song you linked.
|
| |
Fair enough, Andcas.
Ha ha, you and I tend to agree on artists, toxin, but not very often on the actual songs themselves.
|
| |
You know, for some reason that really does seem to be the case.
|
| |
arrivals and departures doesn't suck andcas lol do you even know the meaning of the song here today, gone tomorrow? it's about him losing somebody really close to him.
anyways, expect a silverstein review from me sometime today!
|
| |
stoked for your review atari
|
| |
thanks man i'm almost done with it hope it doesn't disappoint
|
| |
i didn't like the new album as much as i thought i would
|
| |
"arrivals and departures sucks."
it's better than the new one
and arrivals and departures is really emotional
|
| |
I love it :P
|
| |
Loved when broken and 18 candles
|
| |
arrivals and departures has some of the most meaningful songs silverstein has ever written blind boy
|
| |
