Rules. Obviously.
|
| |
even worse than the other one
in fact this was legitimately dreadful in almost every possible way
|
| |
yea its not good
|
| |
rules obvs
|
| |
this song is unredeemable. simple sounds, simple structure they've re-used over and over, horrible vocals that sound like a shouty, bad tom waits and the rest of the instrumentation just plods along and goes absolutely nowhere interesting at all
this is about as heavy as baroness
|
| |
"even worse than the other one
in fact this was legitimately dreadful in almost every possible way"
i don't like the sound of this
|
| |
i always liked noctus and his taste, so that had alarm bells ringing. still gonna listen the fuck out of this album though regardless
|
| |
Digging: Blut Aus Nord - 777 - Cosmosophy
I haven't listened to the song yet, so I don't really know how much I care for it.
|
| |
darknoctus is a little over harsh, and the vox rule, but the rest is spot on, the other song was much better this is definitely boring
|
| |
lol the fun thing is i've actually made and used the sounds that they used at the beginning of the song, i think you'd be alarmed at just how easy they are to make
otherwise all the other sounds are equally as uninteresting
|
| |
yea but u 5d marrow of the spirit what do you know about interesting
|
| |
yeah i have to agree with thunder and noctus on this one, i didn't find this song all that amazing.. i was hoping i would.
|
| |
And then there's that Blut Aus Nord album.
|
| |
don't get too hard guys.
|
| |
interesting isn't the word i'd use to describe marrow of the spirit, something does not need to be interesting to be really fucking good
and even then the centerpiece of the album almost makes a mission out of progressing into unexpected and interesting places so i don't know what you're talking about
but this is just so bland, so tepid, so badly performed and so predictable that there has to be at least something else
pick on something that makes sense or don't bother
|
| |
yea but u 5d marrow of the spirit what do you know about interesting
yea cuz thats totally related to the topic at hand
|
| |
marrow of the spirit sucks though
i agree this is kinda bland and underwhelming, i did like both the intro and outro but the whole main section of the song was a drag
badly performed though, you have to be kidding. neurosis are fucking brilliant musicians and even though the song is lame its nowhere near 'badly performed'
|
| |
I don't care much for what has become of his vocals.
And yeah, digging through a person's ratings during an argument is a pretty low move.
|
| |
no one cares what you think of marrow of the spirit
and i'm more talking about the vocals, they sound so wavery and shouty and they make me cringe. they're audibly way, way worse than they used to be
as for everything else it's just kind of there and far from worthy of the hype they get
like if there were some interesting guitarwork or perhaps a cool drum beat this would have livened this track up tenfold to at least make it passable but they just didn't
|
| |
yea some people don't i love them though. anybody who joins the fucking 'BAD TOM WAITS IMPRESSION' club is an idiot, there's so much energy and eeriness in his voice. he was at his best a few albums ago but he still owns every song like its his. it's too bad this one wasn't good though.
|
| |
Nah, the track doesn't really leave a lasting impression on me.
|
| |
yea i agree with you. its one of the lamest songs ive heard all year from a band i love, and it's insanely beneath the quality and character they normally bring to almost every song. it's just a boring atmospheric metal song, definitely worse than at the well and something that kinda upsets me. im not really all excited for the album any more.
|
| |
i'm not saying it's a tom waits impression but it does have the same qualities as tom waits but they just don't work in this context and are one of the many things that ruin this individual track for me
i will listen to this album when it's out, i still want to give this band a fair shot but the more i listen the less i feel they deserve it
|
| |
Wasn't bad
pretty meh I guess
|
| |
well its kinda tough to say that, they are easily the best band in this genre, have made multiple masterpieces, and even their latest album (gttr) was excellent. Even though At the Well wasn't anything too amazing and this song is lame as fuck we shouldn't exactly count them out yet, they've written some absolutely brilliant shit in the past. i still disagree about von tills vox though, i love his voice. it might be a little high in the mix thats all
|
| |
"And yeah, digging through a persons ratings during an argument is a pretty low move"
Agreed. Only Prawns would do such a lame thing.
|
| |
That was really disappointing. Maybe it will be better in the context of the album, but that was pretty lifeless and boring tbh. Bummed.
|
| |
i'm not writing it off, i clearly said i'd give it a shot when it's out
And yeah, digging through a persons ratings during an argument is a pretty low move.
i appreciate it but so is picking on an album they're digging on
and for the record i don't like the new blut aus nord because it's 'interesting', i like it because it's the album i wanted them to make for years, music isn't that black and white which is something many people on sputnik conveniently forget when it works for them
|
| |
i appreciate it but so is picking on an album they're digging on
Yeah, that was rather silly. I usually don't
and for the record i don't like the new blut aus nord because it's 'interesting', i like it because it's the album i wanted them to make for years, music isn't that black and white which is something many people on sputnik conveniently forget when it works for them
Wait, how is that any different than what you have done regarding this track? Why pick it apart like that if it isn't black and white?
|
| |
this is a thread about the track
this is me discussing the track
i'm not picking on anyone for liking it
you brought it up totally out of context just to make a shot at me for nothing in a thread that has nothing to do with the album you brought up
that's the difference
edit: oh you edited your post
well i actually reviewed blut aus nord and gave a very good explanation as to why i liked it. i was trying to condone discussion here, not attacking neurosis fans. i never picked out one individual person over liking it, i just said i didn't like it and why.
|
| |
Well, in this case it is slightly relevant because the discussion had already been switched to taste and putting faith in people's opinions. Still unnecessary. Let's get back to the subject of the song.
|
| |
but even when they were making shots against me i never picked on anyone's taste, i just stayed on this track apart from explaining why i thought their comparisons weren't relevant
if hawks comes in here defending the track i'm not going to bring up cradle of filth to make myself look right, i just like discussion
|
| |
Right, would be ad hominem and beside the point.
|
| |
i actually think we had a good discussion here despite that :]
|
| |
It's like this band has been on estrogen pills ever since they finished the recording of Through Silver in Blood
|
| |
Hah, glad it all worked out in the end.
|
| |
it was good, and i got to call someone a prawn which is always nice.
|
| |
Straight up idiocy itt
|
| |
I see what Noctus is sayin. The vocals are kind of weak. Riffs are meh. Theres some cool sounds thrown around and the song is ok but expected better cuz Nerohsis. Just sounds like a run of the mill post metal song that I wouldnt give a second look had it been some unknown band.
|
| |
Not really that noteworthy.
|
| |
I kind of agree with Noctus. I'd rather hear the new Cult of Luna album. I was never a big Neurosis fan to begin with.
|
| |
I dug it at first but then it just kind of dragged on. Meh.
|
| |
^ blah blah wahhhh
thought this was pretty good
|
| |
I like your avatar fish
|
| |
I liked this song A LOT, wtf
|
| |
"i still disagree about von tills vox though, i love his voice. it might be a little high in the mix thats all".
Really? I didn't hear him in the mix at all. That's Scott Kelly singing.
|
| |
Wasn't bad but I need to hear it in context with the rest of the album.
|
| |
I liked it.
|
| |
im so disappointed with this.
|
| |
What's the point in posting effectively the same thing again?
|
| |
The songs alright. It's enjoyable but Neurosis are capable of much more...
|
| |
Didn't enjoy it as much as 'At the Well', still pretty solid though.
Think most people are right in saying this would sound better within the album.
|
| |
Feeling a solid 4.
|
| |
horrible vocals that sound like a shouty, bad tom waits
This!
This is really one of my first experiences with this band, and I'm not crazy about it so far. Vocals were eh, instrumentation wasn't very interesting. Last song wasn't my cup'o tea, either. Isis I like, though.
|
| |
Song wasn't an immaculate winner like we want to expect from the band, but this is Neurosis, it's going to better in the context of the album.
|
| |
Considering that I haven't heard the other song yet either I might as well wait till the album leaks to hear the full thing.
|
| |
i just started getting into neurosis and you guys are saying how gay this is. fuckkk uuuuuu
|
| |
Best way to go I s'pose.
|
| |
Wasn't bad but I need to hear it in context with the rest of the album.
bingo
|
| |
agreed babe
|
| |
other song was 2.5, this one is 1.5 :]
|
| |
dicks
|
| |
I feel like this started weak, but finished very well. Psyched.
|
| |
not bad. always tough to tell after one listen and without the context of the rest of the record.
|
| |
I like this one better than the last
|
| |
