New ZZ Top album details 2012-08-04 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 20 Comments | ZZ Top are set to release their upcoming album, entitled La Futura, this September through Rick Rubin's American Recordings. The album will go back to the band's raw sound of their 70s output whilst keeping the modern recording techniques. La Futura will feature ten new tracks including the Texicali EP ones that debuted a couple of months ago.
Regarding the album's title, Gibbons commented: "“We wanted to recall the directness of our early stuff but not turn our backs on contemporary technology. The result of this melding of the past and the present is, of course, LA FUTURA.” Also, featured on the album is the track "Flyin' High" that debuted thirteen months ago, before it was fully finished, aboard the Soyuz spacecraft at the time of its launch to the International Space Station at the request of NASA astronaut Mike Fossum, a close friend of the band.
