New Cloudkicker info

2012-06-16 by Julianna Reed EMERITUS | 42 Comments
Instrumental metal musician Cloudkicker posted on his Tumblr this morning, describing the work placed into his next album.

Here are some descriptions from Ben Sharp himself:

- "GUITARS" and "LOUD".

- Almost no compression.

- There are seven tracks, and it'll be 40-45 minutes long.

- Standard tuning is used.

- "Mid-90's arena shoegaze", with versatile influences.

The new album is still untitled, but will be released around September if all goes to plan. For more information, check out the original blog post at the following link:

This just sounds like the coolest thing ever.

LYBH was a refreshing step for Sharp, but it was definitely missing something. Here's to hoping that the next release satisfies me.

It's gonna be like Mew with a dose of Beach House, obviously.

All in sterile 4/4.

Mid-90's arena shoegaze

lolwut

No compression? Arena shoegaze? Doesn't sound at all like ]]][[[ or Beacons. Therefore...

Probably be boring [2]

I don't know anything about guitars, but it may make more sense if you look at the blog post itself.

I assumed he meant guitar tones / effects being clean of compression, but maybe I'm wrong.

Probably means he won't do much compressing of the mix as a whole. That's a big part of the typical mastering process i'm pretty sure. It evens the peaks in volume and makes the volume more uniform throughout a song.

Yeah, like Omaha said, I assume guitar compression. Though a sans-compression Sharp album could be interesting.
