average metal is average
|
| |
that was good.
|
| |
definitely not too fantastic. I enjoyed it, but the production on the vocals was lacking, i thought.
They hit it perfectly on their debut. i was expecting a production style similar, but who the fuck
cares it's about the music right?
Musically, it was just aight.
|
| |
Cool but totally cock-tease deep cut depriving me of zee metal. I'm sure the album will be good tho, they should be able to outdo Exoplanet.
|
| |
rules
|
| |
It was alright. Too much clean vocals that didn't really fit. Something tells me the rest of the album won't be like this though.
|
| |
Its pretty good.
|
| |
i enjoyed it
|
| |
Song rules
I have a feeling it won't all be this soft though.
|
| |
Needs more turtles
|
| |
i didn't listen to the first record but i thought that song was pretty sweet
|
| |
video was sick also
|
| |
fucking awesome.
|
| |
So fucking good.
|
| |
too many cleans
not enough screams
|
| |
good
|
| |
a little too soft in my opinion. other than that legitimate.
|
| |
His singing is really boring, but I'm glad to hear his screams sounding a lot better. Song was indeed a little too soft, but I'm betting that most of the album will be different.
|
| |
it's just so funny that the overall critique on this is that it's too soft when if you read through the exoplanet thread, it's all "the heavy parts are dumb but the ambient parts make up for it hurr durr"
|
| |
enjoyed the vocals on exoplanet much more, but this is pretty good
|
| |
Song kicks ass, production not so much, but that's OK, I'll be waiting for this
|
| |
After hearing this and the other two songs they've played live, I am so god damned pumped.
You can also tell from the other live songs that the whole album is not going to sound like this.
Very odd choice for a single in my opinion.
|
| |
"it's just so funny that the overall critique on this is that it's too soft when if you read through the exoplanet thread, it's all "the heavy parts are dumb but the ambient parts make up for it hurr durr"
That's sputnik for you.
|
| |
that was rather good.
|
| |
I miss Apparitions Contortionist.
|
| |
Holy shit this is actually good. The screams really do sound so much better than on exoplanet although they were rare on this song. I'm sure the new album brings plenty of heavy along with songs like this.
|
| |
If you listen to the songs on YouTube, they're obviously still going to be super heavy. This song is more mature sounding than a lot of exoplanet and exoplanet was fucking awesome
|
| |
This was amazing... Even more pumped for the new album now =) definitely going to be a first day buy for me. And for everyone saying this is too "mellow"... The band stated previously that they were going to be moving a way from the deathcore sound and start playing more stuff like this. Which I like, I love their ambient parts they sound so good. But, regardless it's going to be a great album with parts everyone will like whether it be ambient or deathcore... it will be there.
|
| |
lol lyrics videos...
|
| |
"lol lyrics videos..."
The Contortionist has some of the most creative lyrics... what you lolin at? I was very interested in the lyrics.
|
| |
I'm not mocking their lyrics; the fad of lyrics videos is just a little silly to me.
|
| |
I'm a fan of their really melodic pieces, more so than the really heavy pieces. I don't really want this album to be "SUPER BR00TAL" or anything like that, I'm just not a big fan of overkill on the ambient sections. Something in between this and their heavy stuff would make me happy.
|
| |
Yeah I guess... Regardless I would like to see the lyrics either way whether it be just them posting it or a lyric video. I do agree though everyone is doing Lyric Videos now haha
|
| |
DAMN, THAT WAS GOOD.
WORST SONG ON THE ALBUM, DUDERS.
|
| |
really good
|
| |
lol
|
| |
sup KILL
|
| |
nm jamming clockwork angels
|
| |
Me likey... I love the "secret dimensional noise..." part. Psyched for this fo sho.
|
| |
it's just so funny that the overall critique on this is that it's too soft when if you read through the exoplanet thread, it's all "the heavy parts are dumb but the ambient parts make up for it hurr durr
that is actually kind of hilariously true
|
| |
lol lyrics videos... [2]
|
| |
This was disappointing, tbh
|
| |
production isn't very good. and his cleans are kinda boring. something about the song just feels off
|
| |
I thought the production was fine, his cleans are good, way better than the stupid vocoder parts on exoplanet. Also, this isn't one of the most straight-forward tracks on the album, they just wanted to give you a taste of what's new, not try and spoil it.
|
| |
I liked it. It does seem to be an odd choice for a first song to release. Funny, I just got exoplanet last week for the first time so I'm just now getting into these guys after hearing about them for a year or so. Band is really good though. Excited to hear this one.
|
| |
extreme cynic influence?
|
| |
Fuckin boner time
|
| |
They had cleans before they worked really well on exoplanet:1
|
| |
I enjoyed this song. I saw the guys on with All Shall Perish, Carnifex, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Conducting From Grave. The cleans i like but i hope i get more of a mix between heavy and harsh vocals.
|
| |
The cleans in exoplanet were few and memorable, the cleans here are numerous and unmemorable.
|
| |
Sounds good, looking forward to the new album.
|
| |
cool but too much clean
|
| |
extreme cynic influence?
this too
|
| |
Loving this, lyric videos are lame though
|
| |
Cleans vocals threw me a bit at first, but I love it.
|
| |
The cleans are amazing imo... I'm loving this song
|
| |
I actually somewhat enjoy this band, I like that they're trying to not be generic.
|
| |
Fucking looooooveeeee
|
| |
I'll just wait for the full album
|
| |
Pretty good. I kinda wish there were more harsh vocals but his singing is actually good. I'm sure all the other songs on the album blow this away.
|
| |
Awesome song. Was skeptical about the album being any good, but this is a great hint that it will be.
|
| |
Awwwwww yeah.
|
| |
too many cleans
|
| |
"The cleans in exoplanet were few and memorable, the cleans here are numerous and unmemorable. "
Agreed.
|
| |
I like how mellow this song is. I don't get a Contortionist record hoping to sit through 60 minutes of blasting and shredding.
|
| |
i dig dis shit
|
| |
Song is good by itself, but it probably sounds better with track placement. At least I hope. I would like to see some of their heavier moments still.
|
| |
i hate these fucking lyric videos
|
| |
but yeah song is good
|
| |
Awesome.
|
| |
Yeah I don't get the lyric video thing either, they're lame. The song is pretty good though
|
| |
its just okay
thats all it is
|
| |
vocals appear to have gotten worse...
and they kept that weird sounding junz tone...
|
| |
I enjoyed it.
|
| |
Actually am happy with the production, the vocals on Exoplanet sounded like they belonged on an elecronic album. Don't mind that it's a soft song, am sure there'll still be plenty of chugs and growls on the album.
|
| |
Old meme is old
Not funny meme is not funny
|
| |
There is no doubt that the album will be great but this song was lame.
|
| |
Nah Intrinsic will be great Mikey
|
| |
lyrics are unsurprisingly stupid for this band
did they have clean vocals before? I don't really remember because exoplanet was so unmemorable. They don't sound too good here(boring as clean vocals get tbh) and the heavy section was so average. Really a bad song overall.
Unsurprisingly stupid? Exoplanet lyrics were fucking awesome when you sit down and try to comprehend the concept. I will agree Jon can't rly sing, and relies on effects, but whatever, it works out fine. LOL Exoplanet unmemorable? Not even gonna....
|
| |
yeah if you don't think exoplanet is at least above average then you must not have listened to it properly
|
| |
or they have a different opinion
|
| |
lol
opinions
|
| |
Oh Rosa shut up. Stop being such a prick you made your point now let others make theirs
|
| |
Song was good. Reminded me of Tool for some reason.
|
| |
the lyrics are a lot stupider when you see them in writing hahaha
|
| |
Song is good, but I found my attention drifting at certain sections. Instrumentally, the band should have gone further with Cynic's approach, and included more complexity.
|
| |
if that's your reaction to a thought out opinion, then yes, you probably shouldn't waste what
brain cells you have left on me. Don't want you to hurt yourself
oh noooo, youre so condescending! im so rattled now! seriously, go to the thread and see how many
different people sporadically posted something a long the lines of "the ending of oscillator is
fucking amazing" or "that build up in flourish is unreal". Not surprised if you don't like the
album,
but it is far from unmemorable.
I'll be sure not to laugh at some randoms opinion again I guess...or ill come across as stupid!
|
| |
Using your logic, I can turn around and say you suggested the album was objectively unmemorable.
Whatever bud, you dont like it... moving on.
|
| |
lol objectivity
|
| |
"so what you're saying is the album is objectively memorable. lol ok idiot"
Compared to most other things in the genre, it most certainly is. I think he was just referring to the fact that most everybody that has listened to it found it memorable, even if it wasn't exactly their cup of tea.
|
| |
fucking sigh
^ DINGDING DING we have a winner.
|
| |
You are really thickheaded dude. What im trying to say is that trhe majority of sputnik like this.
You dont have to like it, but calling it unmemorable because you dont like, and thinking it is
somehow much more reasonable than someone liking it and arguing because one random asshole dislikes
it is not
coool.
|
| |
"well thats wrong objectivity doesnt exist in music go die"
lol ur opinion isn't mine ur fucking stupid
^ Every argument you make.
|
| |
did you really say "gay album"
|
| |
Only the most elite of user still use gay as an adjective.
|
| |
"thickheaded is thinking everyone should have the same opinion on a gay album tbh"
Nobody here said that everyone should have the same opinion about Exoplanet. You're completely twisting things so you have something to argue about. We stated our opinion, you stated yours while insulting us for ours, and then somehow twisted it into people saying that there was an objectively correct opinion to the album.
|
| |
"Using your logic, I can turn around and say you suggested the album was objectively unmemorable."
hahahaha
pretty much
|
| |
lol you troll rated Intrinsic. Its clear I should not have even taken notice to your ignorance in the first place. Good day sir.
|
| |
Song ruled
definitely a big Cynic influence there
stoked for new album
|
| |
You did immediately afterwards.
|
| |
your first post wasn't even well put and made you come across as arrogant
come on now. if you have to ask if there were cleans on exoplanet you obviously didn't listen to it enough to form a valid opinion
|
| |
hahahaha
if you didn't remember if there were cleans because it was so unmemorable, then how can you say that the lyrics are "surprisingly bad for this band"?
my bad though, i'm probably wrong. you probably aren't just making derogatory comments just to argue with someone on the internet
|
| |
Wow, Rosa is in the right here. He stated his opinion that he didn't find the album to have much to remember about. However, Dangler says he's wrong because it was memorable for him? That is Rosa's opinion not yours. It's unbelievable how butthurt people get hurt when a band they like is given an opinion by someone who found it to be average to them. Shall I point out the Northlane thread when it first started? At least Chuck doesn't start a war although, yes, he does disagree. Rosa hates BTBAM but I love them and you don't see me and him arguing over that. Just get over it people.
|
| |
Also, I enjoyed Exoplanet a good amount and I can see where Rosa is coming from with his first comment he made.
|
| |
hahaha considering you were the one preaching about objectivity a few minutes ago, that alone makes everything you've said so far sound really stupid
and if you think this song is deathcore then lol at your ears
|
| |
This still has deathcore elements in it.
|
| |
oh i'm sorry, i must have been thrown off by the 6 minutes of nothing but singing and ambient chord progressions
i must not have listened to chelsea grin's last album enough
|
| |
oh my god will you guys shut the fuck up already
|
| |
So just because theirs clean vocals and ambient sections this makes it not deathcore anymore? Is it prog now? I bet that's going to be slapped on as their genre pretty soon. People already began to call Flourish a prog record which wasn't even close.
|
| |
"can you even read. deathcore lyrics being generally stupid is my opinion. I don't think you know what
objectivity even means. i was speaking from experience, not some ignorant objective assumption so go
find some other way of wasting your time because you're obviously fucking stupid"
You were doing the same exact thing. Taking someone's opinion and assuming they meant that their opinion was objectively correct.
|
| |
hahahaha
i can't believe you're trying to justify being retarded by saying that you're experienced in deathcore
and i said nothing about exoplanet in that comment lol, now you're doing what you claimed Dangler was doing to you. i was talking about this song alone not being deathcore, which it isn't
|
| |
"So just because theirs clean vocals and ambient sections this makes it not deathcore anymore? Is it prog now? I bet that's going to be slapped on as their genre pretty soon. People already began to call Flourish a prog record which wasn't even close."
god you and rosa both are fucking stupid, I was talking about THIS SONG
and "Flourish a prog record" doesn't make sense because there's no such record. if you were confusing the term with exoplanet and you're trying to say that exoplanet wasn't prog at all then you're an idiot
|
| |
god you and rosa both are fucking stupid, I was talking about THIS SONG
I'm stupid? I can almost bet you're going to 5 this before it comes like you did with Counterparts and so many other bands you hype up immediately before releases. I meant to say Exoplanet as a prog record. Little mix up but I think you'd understand what I meant by it. Also, Exoplanet is NOT prog. It has elements of it but is it purely a prog album? Fuck no.
|
| |
just because you never blatantly said "this song is deathcore" doesn't mean that "so just because hurr durr ambient sections" doesn't imply that you're still calling it deathcore lol
on that note, I bid this thread farewell. it was fun
|
| |
Yeah, it was fun watching you act like a dumbass again. I guess leaving is your best option now.
|
| |
"I'm stupid? I can almost bet you're going to 5 this before it comes like you did with Counterparts and so many other bands you hype up immediately before releases. I meant to say Exoplanet as a prog record. Little mix up but I think you'd understand what I meant by it. Also, Exoplanet is NOT prog. It has elements of it but is it purely a prog album? Fuck no."
hahaha, oh no man! don't use my ratings against me cause that really invalidates anything else I've said prior to that comment. especially since nobody said anything about hyping this record. or counterparts for that matter. and i love how exoplanet went from being "not even close to prog" to "it has elements of prog"
i'm seriously done now because you've already proven to be as stupid as your "i listen to this so i'm better derp" attitude
|
| |
cynic much...
|
| |
alot different from what i expected but totally digging it. It's only the intro to the album so I'm sure it will sound totally different.
|
| |
Dear god I love this thread.
|
| |
Song was good.
Trying to not over hype this album it will probably fall short
|
| |
hahaha, oh no man! don't use my ratings against me cause that really invalidates anything else I've said prior to that comment. especially since nobody said anything about hyping this record. or counterparts for that matter. and i love how exoplanet went from being "not even close to prog" to "it has elements of prog"
i'm seriously done now because you've already proven to be as stupid as your "i listen to this so i'm better derp" attitude
Theirs a huge difference between elements of prog compared to a full prog album. Also, I never said I dislike this band or Counterparts so I don't know where the "i listen to this so i'm better derp" attitude came from. I actually enjoyed Exoplanet and Counterparts but you immediately took what I said and assumed I hated it. Truth is I was calling you out for making yourself look like a fool earlier. Although, when you continue to argue it only made it worse.
|
| |
I like to move it, move it....
..To the shoutboxes with my immature internet babble.
|
| |
This is the most ridiculous argument ever XD two people thinking they are both out-logicing each other... Grow up haha...
And a more relevant note, song rocks and have been listening too it quite a bit as of recent. I'm excited to see how this ties in with the rest of the album.
|
| |
Please just stop seriously who gives a fuck.
|
| |
lol I am sort of responsible for this silliness. so, i apologize.
|
| |
myyyyy eyeeeeesssss
|
| |
"Please just stop seriously who gives a fuck." [2]
|
| |
holy shit, thread = giant pile of shit now
|
| |
Nah cuz you see there's this guy named SeaAnemone in here and he's a pile of shit
|
| |
lol
|
| |
can't
|
| |
What the fuck happened to this thread?
|
| |
Rosa happened
|
| |
Can't imagine what the album review thread will turn into
|
| |
Probably the same thing only with even more stupidity. This is just the trailer.
|
| |
Lots of Prog vs. This Isn't Prog. Along with a ton of idiots trying to define the genre and lots of 'ugh deathcore'.
|
| |
if Intrinsic mostly runs along the lines of this song then The Contortionist shall simply be progressive metal
|
| |
oh lawd. who would have thought this thread would come to this?
oh wait its sputnik. threads usually end up looking like this.
|
| |
dosnt matter, still dope
|
| |
Hopefully these guys put a nice ambient interlude on Intrinsic like Axiom from Exoplanet or the title track from Apparition
|
| |
Pretty awesome, looking forward to the album.
|
| |
I really dig the clean vox in this song, way better than the stupid vocoder they used on the last album.
|
| |
vocoder was dope imo, reminded me of cynic.
|
| |
It worked for a few parts, cynic pulls it off fantastically.
|
| |
agreed cynic does it well. I just feel the vocoder made 'the contortionist' somewhat unique, plus it
fit the space elements/theme; now they sound more like everyone else.
|
| |
Almost missed this in the news column but song is was pretty good. Excited for the release
|
| |
Yeah it's gonna be great Tyler
|
| |
You got that right bo
|
| |
Lol hell yeah m/
|
| |
What happened to the vocals that were on "Flourish" those were perfect for this band's ambient style. Also fuck lyrics videos, I hate the way they present lyrics to you, it really kills a song for me.
|
| |
^ yeah I can't stand lyric videos for some reason. I would much rather just look at a band pic or album cover.
|
| |
I like lyric videos when they're well done. In this one the font they used looked like shit.
|
| |
I've decided I don't like this
|
| |
Lyric videos are the new trend apparently. It must be for idiots who can't understand lyrics.
|
| |
Or...it can be a financial issue..It's cheaper to make a lyrical video than a music video.
|
| |
I rather enjoyed that, actually. It went through a lot of intriguing shifts. I have high hopes for this new release. I think it will show a slew more variety.
|
| |
I'm friends with their merch guy and he says the new album is better than Exoplanet. He might be biased because he's practically a band member in the sense that he's with them 24/7, but I don't think he'd say that if he didn't mean it.
|
| |
