New The Word Alive album

2012-04-22 by simonpettersen | 41 Comments
American metalcore act The Word Alive will release their upcoming second studio album "Life Cycles" on July 3rd through Fearless Records. According to lead singer Tyler Smith the album features a heavier and more "metal-headed" sound. It will be available as a 14-track standard version and a 17-track deluxe edition; both of which will be released on the same date.

"Life Cycles" will be the first album by The World Alive to not feature keyboardist Dusty Riach and drummer Justin Salinas whom both left the band in January 2012. Keyboards on the album were done by guitarists Zack Hansen and Tony Pizzuti, while the drumming was done by Matt Horn. The official new drummer is Luke Holland whom joined the band after the recording session of "Life Cycles".

"Deceiver" wasn't the worst thing ever made, so hopefully this will be an improvement.

Deceiver was awesome and still is. I hope this will also be. Too bad Luke Holland doesn't drum on this, that would have made me a lot more excited about this.

Looking forward to checking this out, although 14 tracks is pretty hefty. Shame the new drummer isn't featured on this though. Also it'll be interesting to hear how much keyboard is on the album. With the guitarists doing the work it should either be very little or over saturated.

I'm afraid you are very much incorrect if you think that any of these recent metalcore bands actually have a real drummer playing on any of their albums.

We all know that just means they're gonna just throw a shitload of breakdowns on the album and call it a day.

How much did Tyler actually scream on Deciver? Cause when I saw them live the guitarist was doing a large chunk of it.

Second on hating the cleans though, and with Sturgis producing them they will get even more whiney.

Since I haven't been following this band or cared to if the guy with the terrible cleans is still in the band this will still blow.

Deceiver was unbelievably overrated and overly generic in my opinion. Nevertheless I'll give this a listen when it comes out.

Band needs to make the album like "Hounds of Anubis" then remove the cleans.

Cleans are bad on album, terrible live. He needs stop singing. It is a shame the Luke wasn't involved in the writing process, I want to see what he can come up with on his own, it seems that all of his youtube videos are just covers.

I'll check this out but I don't really expect much from it.

Agreed with everyone asking to remove the cleans. Like any contemporary metalcore band, they would sound twice as heavy and less predictable without them.

^^^ I don't think they need to take the advice of a random sputnikmusic commentor. They are doing great as they are now, cleans and all. Empire received great reviews and it had layered vocals. With Deciever, their vocalist tried different things and seen what the fans liked. I have high hopes for this album and I know it'll be great.

Although I might start using it more often. It has a nice ring to it.

The actual action would be much funnier.

I will probably buy this one, listen to it a few times, legitimately enjoy 3 or 4 songs, and then just let it sit in my room.
