I hope im not the only one who got bored.
|
| |
It was alright.
|
| |
it's great but yeah song is sort of meh
|
| |
OH MY LAWD!
|
| |
its good
|
| |
fuck that was good, expected nothing less
|
| |
"I hope im not the only one who got a boner"
fixed.
|
| |
Guitars sound really good, looks like the Axe Fx is doing it's thing.
Liking the slower pace too, good song overall.
|
| |
Sick beats.
|
| |
dat groove doe
|
| |
Not bad
|
| |
It has their Nothing album sound.
|
| |
I didn't like Nothing (except for Spasm).
|
| |
OH OH OH OH OH
|
| |
Nothing is like my fav album by them next to Catch 33. Looking forward to this album. Fell kinda band
because soooo many bands have used their style sooo hard its kinda underwhelming an predictable now.
|
| |
Sounds more like Catch 33 dude
|
| |
i wonder what song this one is
|
| |
sounds more like obzen except not as exciting
|
| |
Its the 7th track. "Break These Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion". I posted this info in my news article but noooooooo!!!. Didn't get past this lack of info one lol.
|
| |
i would have commented 2 hours ago, but i just woke up from a nap induced by this song
|
| |
At first I was like "Meshuggah ripped off that lead from 'Night' by Devin Townsend!"
Then I was like "Oh wait, I spoke too soon... Hey, this is great!"
Afterwards, I was like "Shit, this is kinda boring. Why, 'Shug, why?"
|
| |
boring
|
| |
sounds like shit to me
|
| |
Song slays. Still the masters of their craft. Fuck Periphery et al. Now back to spinning Uneven Structure.
|
| |
I'm almost sure that when people are hearing a new song, they aren't listening in the proper environment or with headphones.
Metal needs to be loud to make an initial impact
|
| |
meh
|
| |
Oh my god ! I feel sad for them. I only know Obzen and... aoutch !
|
| |
thank you meshuggah.
|
| |
totes m/
|
| |
So fucking boring
|
| |
i don't think other songs on the album will be like this: it has the feel of that one simplistic, super slow/groovy song that they often put on their records. i'm sure the others will riff hard.
|
| |
this was disappointing
|
| |
definitely not my favorite Meshuggah song...kinda disappointing
|
| |
For guitar tone Cubase's Amp Rack VST was used, not Axe-FX.
FYI.
|
| |
Don't worry guys they'll rape with the rest of the album.
|
| |
Song was boring.
|
| |
For guitar tone Cubase's Amp Rack VST was used, not Axe-FX.
Dang it!
Still sounds nice though : )
|
| |
bloc what tone is better
this or a higher place
|
| |
bloc what tone is better
this or a higher place
Damn that is tough. Just through comparison, I would say this but only because the tone on AHP suits that playing style while this one could work with almost anything.
|
| |
This song is like a mix of Nothing and C33. On first listen it was okay, got better on second. Will be interesting how this works in album context. Also dat thud.
|
| |
because you touch yourself at night
|
| |
Wasn't a fan on my first listen.
|
| |
eh its kinda...............
|
| |
withholding judgement til all the facts come out
|
| |
Different for sure. Still awesome
|
| |
it might be good. Ill have to see how it fits in with the rest of the album before I make any decisions
|
| |
This is all right, that's all I can say really
|
| |
The parts without vocals are pretty sweet, but those boring vocals over the same music is quite boring.
|
| |
Song was good. Not anything groundbreaking but pretty good. I really liked that weird lead that started in the middle and faded out until the end.
|
| |
I will agree with the majority by saying that my first listen was quite 'meh'.
However, I'm on listen #5 or so, and I enjoy it quite a bit more with each listen. If I were to take a guess, I would say that this song is particularly rough to listen to out of context, given its placement in the album; however, this tune probably best demonstrates the approach that will be taken on Koloss.
|
| |
Didn't really enjoy it after the first listen
|
| |
Dev and I agree. Woah....
|
| |
Somebody call someone!
|
| |
meh
2 - 2.5
|
| |
I never listen to leaked songs. I'd rather hear it in context.
|
| |
Mechuggah
|
| |
"ill call my mom"
she's kinda busy right now
|
| |
Song was pretty boring but i could understand it's place on the album and how it could make sense being as weak as it was.
|
| |
slower pace was interesting. definitely some interesting parts, I guess we'll see whats next.
|
| |
HOLY FUCK I LOVE RODS IN MY MOUTH
|
| |
meh and meh again....
|
| |
Diggin it. Love the hypnotic effect, and the vocals are killer. 3:46 = phlegm flying errywhar
|
| |
No new riffs, old recycled. After obZen it's really hard to make better album IMO.
|
| |
wasn't really into it
|
| |
JIZZ
|
| |
Never really listened/enjoyed Meshuggah before, but that was quite cool
|
| |
"ill call my mom"
--she's kinda busy right now--
.... getting boned?
|
| |
Vocal production sounds great.
|
| |
Well that was fucking boring. Vocals were eh guitar playing was snooze-worthy and the drumming... well I didn't even notice it because it was so bland. Why do people like this band again?
|
| |
Vocal production sounds great [2]
The song is awesome in its simplicity.
These guys can still djent better than the whole djent movement...
|
| |
i liked it, nothning brilliant tho yea
|
| |
I would like to see Meshuggah get "minimal" all the way for once...
This is the only thing they haven't done so far, leave aside Nothing which was not 100% minimal tho...
|
| |
With you there voivod
|
| |
dissapointing, hopefully the rest of the album packs more of a punch
|
| |
I haven't liked much of Meshuggah before - particularly not their slower songs - but this was just crushing.
at the very least you can tell that they wrote this song as a band, rather than in the piecemeal way they did in the past.
|
| |
dissapointing, hopefully the rest of the album packs more of a punch
This is probably the most crushing song they've made since "Dehumanization", dunno what you're talking about
sputnik doesn't know dick about Meshuggah
|
| |
actually, i think what i like most about this is that it's relatively easy to headbang to.
|
| |
thor been meshuggarin since i was 2 bitch
|
| |
KILL knows all about dat groove
|
| |
Glad they're doing something different than obZen. The vocals are kinda "special", and they're cool. Overall, it's really awesome. I'm stoked.
|
| |
^ exactly, the best part about this band is they can take something as simple as downtuning 8-strings and keep pumping out different albums, this'll be awesome
|
| |
oh and sweet bubbles av fuck yea
|
| |
Can't listen to it right now, but I'm guessing it probably goes something like "chugga chugga chug djent djent chug djent".
|
| |
shut up fag
|
| |
massive
|
| |
chode
|
| |
lol
|
| |
dat groove
|
| |
I have gotten so used to the Nothing/Catch Thirty-Three/I Meshuggah....that I think you're right Voivod. With this song being as stripped down as it is, it is kind of underwhelming to me, at first listen that is. I am going to listen to it with that in mind because it still sounds sweet, but I am expecting craziness! Which I am sure there will be some on the album.
|
| |
On a first listen I feel like there wasn't enough variation to keep it interesting. Either that or it really needs a serious WTF moment for the rest to build up to. Still good shit though and I will no doubt listen to Koloss.
|
| |
This song is like a mix of Nothing and C33. On first listen it was okay, got better on second. Will be interesting how this works in album context. Also dat thud.
That's what I'm thinking. It would work as a transitional track between two heavy ass pieces. This one is still good, slow and brooding. If we are lucky this is the weakest track on the album.
|
| |
Haake himself said that there are no songs which match the calibre of Bleed in difficulty/technicality so we'll see, but even if the album is a slower chug fest it'll still rule.
|
| |
Really boring, just like I expected.
|
| |
Didn't he say that the band focused more on grooves this time around? Unless I'm thinking of something else...
Because if that's true, you can bet most of the songs on the album will sound like this really.
|
| |
I hope not.
|
| |
As the 7th track, this song was kinda expected to not blow anyones socks off. Even though, I only fiind the first third of the track interesting. The rest is rather obnoxious.
|
| |
How was any of this obnoxious? lol
|
| |
5 classic
Between the Buried and Me Colors
oh yea and this is really obnoxious huh cryio
|
| |
Just sounds like the same shit they always do. I don't get why this band gets so much praise, they are boring as fuck.
|
| |
^ Lol at people that hate BTBAM. They kick the shit out of Meshuggah.
|
| |
I was using it as an example of an overly obnoxious album compared to this dumbass
|
| |
haha.
|
| |
hopefully the rest of this album doesn't sound as dull as this song. Don't let me down Mechuggah.
|
| |
BOOOOOOOOOOOOORING. It's impossible for this band to connect with me intellectually any longer, and this didn't even grab me musically.
|
| |
5 classic
Between the Buried and Me Colors
nothing wrong with that
|
| |
again read why I wrote that holy shit people
|
| |
Just sounds like the same shit they always do. I don't get why this band gets so much praise, they are boring as fuck.
because without them there wouldn't be any of the bullshit sumeriancore bands you jack off to.
|
| |
couldnt've put it any better
|
| |
Song will probably fit better into the context of the album.
|
| |
it is kinda boring but this album will still rape hard and you're probably a fag if you think otherwise
|
| |
Haters gonna hate
Song is dope
|
| |
Sooooo gewd
|
| |
It's probably one of the few songs of theirs that you can headbang to without giving yourself a
seizure. It was a chugfest, but I'm sure the rest will be better.
And from their facebook notes page, it seems that the record won't have any difficult songs in terms
of technical skill needed--relative to Bleed--but that they haven't even tried playing "The Demon’s
Name is Surveillance" because it's so weird a track. So they still have some tricks left for us, it
seems!
|
| |
Honestly, idk how they managed to make obZen. They had to avoid making the same sound again. Somehow they managed. I really never had too many expectations for Koloss. It's just going to keep getting harder and harder for them. If they manage to blow me away like they did with obZen, well then I'll be damned. It must be hard being in Meshuggah xD
|
| |
so here's the typical lifespan of a legendary album:
get's released----> people love it ---> gains steam ---> people love it more ---> almost unanimous critical praise ---> (one year later) haters start to hate ----> "lol at liking _________" ----> "meh, 2.5"
*sigh*
Meshuggah fucking rule, pansies.
|
| |
People saying one band is better than another can get off the Internet and finish their homework.
Notice why bands rarely criticize other bands? Because they're busy doing BAND SHIT
|
| |
Song was a little one-dimensional yeah. But let's be honest here.. Meshuggah aren't exactly heralded for varied songwriting. They do, however, deliver the grooves better than basically anyone else... and this song grooves pretty hard.
|
| |
Beat me to it Kubrick.
|
| |
Mechuggah>>>> the word djent itself.
|
| |
Don't even use the "d" word when referring to these guys. I don't care if the term was coined by them or not, they are above anything that term is associated with.
As far as the song goes, I'm getting a very Nothing feel from it, which is by no means a bad thing. I think there is a lot going on here they've never really introduced us to. Gets me quite excited for what else is to come.
|
| |
Makes me laugh how almost all the users dissing this song actually listen to a lot of bands that are widely influenced by Meshuggah.
|
| |
sounds way better today than yesterday
|
| |
Song is awesome, but what the fuck is it called?
|
| |
Bitchin'! 2012 will be a good year for metal.
|
| |
"Makes me laugh how almost all the users dissing this song actually listen to a lot of bands that are widely influenced by Meshuggah."
You can be influenced by something, but that doesn't mean your music will be of the exact same caliber as that influence (as your statement nonsensically implies). It might be better, it might be worse.
I think a lot of people feel that while Meshuggah comes up with some sick grooves, overall their music can get boring and repetitive (they repeat riffs more than Opeth, even), and tends to lack soul. For instance, Devin Townsend has been influenced in recent years by Meshuggah, but his music is infinitely more entertaining.
|
| |
"so here's the typical lifespan of a legendary album:
get's released----> people love it ---> gains steam ---> people love it more ---> almost unanimous critical praise ---> (one year later) haters start to hate ----> "lol at liking _________" ----> "meh, 2.5"?"
Merriweather Post Pavilion anyone?
|
| |
This whole fucking gay djent thing almost makes me not even want to listen to Mesh right now. Almost.
|
| |
meh [23]
|
| |
"You can be influenced by something, but that doesn't mean your music will be of the exact same caliber as that influence (as your statement nonsensically implies). It might be better, it might be worse. "
What's so nonsensical about it? I just said it makes me laugh, never said anything about quality or compared to other bands or songs, my statement implies what's written, and it reads like this (again):
"Makes me laugh how almost all the users dissing this song actually listen to a lot of bands that are widely influenced by Meshuggah."
There you go. Have a nice day.
|
| |
fucking double post
|
| |
Oh, and I agree about Devin Townsend being more 'entertaining' also, I've got lots of albums rated higher than Messhugah's, by bands that draw most of their influences from them.
|
| |
don't mind it
|
| |
wow you are so offensive PotsyTater like wow
|
| |
Yeah, woah
|
| |
I know, powerful indeed
|
| |
Shut the fuck up
|
| |

They still rock harder than the ripoffs.
|
| |

|
| |
CHT JUN! CHT JUN! CHT JUN! CHT JUN! CHT JUN! CHT DER! DUN! DEE!
|
| |
Boring... Fingers crossed for the rest of the album.
|
| |
actually, i think what i like most about this is that it's relatively easy to headbang to. [2]
The more i listen to it, the more i like it.
|
| |
headbanging is always a good thing to be able to do excpet for when it makes you dizzy!
|
| |
upon 3rd listen its one of the best things they've ever done
|
| |
I hope it's worst song on the album.
|
| |
"Just sounds like the same shit they always do. I don't get why this band gets so much praise, they are boring as fuck."
|
| |
Well yeah, theyre boring if your'e a retard
|
| |
Oh, Meshuggah is the new band that's cool to hate on sputnik? Nice. I can approve of this.
|
| |
although if i kinda agree, that on the first listen i lost interest about 3/4 in. but now a while later it sure has grown on me. Very powerful, typical Meshuggah right here. Just the way i want it
|
| |
"The more i listen to it, the more i like it."
the brainwashing is working
|
| |
Better than that Vildhjarta band that fucking sucks.
|
| |

meshuggah rule. nothing, catch 33, obzen. not familiar with chaosohere and so on but heard it is just as good. fuck yeah.
|
| |
You're preaching to the converted
|
| |
Jeg fucked deres mom dem faggot ass nigger og dem bedre watch Ryggen omkring byen homie jeg vil slutte op Spraengning deres ass
lol the very poor grammar aside, this would roughly translate to:
I fucked your mom you faggot ass nigger and you better watch your back when around in town homie i will blow up your ass
|
| |
as someone who is only familiar with meshuggah's newer material. I really enjoy this track, def. much more straightforward and has more air than their last album. really letting the guitar atmosphere take over vs. the drums. looking forward to this.
|
| |
Pretty cool stuff
|
| |
Tickets are expensive
Shirts alone are helluva lot
Half their songs I don't really like
Probably won't have the time or patience to listen to this.
I still like Meshuggah.
|
| |
I doubt that
|
| |
The more I listen to this song the more I love it. Fuck this album is going to rape.
|
| |
rule
|
| |
The lyrics make me shit and cum blood.
|
| |
you may have a tumor
|
| |
sounds delicious
|
| |
starts great, but eventually it gets boring
|
| |
you take that back mother fucker
|
| |
well that's just awkward.
|
| |
I really fucking enjoyed this song, don't care if people found it boring. For a track that isn't going to be the leading one on the album, it's surprisingly good.
The lead in continues throughout the song and gives it an eerie sense overall, the slow groove adds a kind of warm sound to the feel, the technicality is replaced with a kind of minimalism that really complements the song's feel, and Jen's vocals are just top notch here.
|
| |
Meshuggah boring? Just because their musicianship is mathmatical in a complex way?
I understand all the hate that goes towards the likes of Bullet For My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold, but now the majority of hate goes towards bands that are actually heavy metal and do it well? Even Lamb of God virtually got the same treatment of 'band that's cool to hate here now, just because'. Jesus Christ, Sputnik is full of the likes.
And if this sounds fanboyish in someway, then so be it.
|
| |
Song went from an 'okay' on first listen to 'great' by the fourth. Not sure how it's going to age, though.
|
| |
Really liking this more with repeated listens.
|
| |
leak teim yet?
|
| |
I really hope that these aren't the final cuts for the songs, though. I miss the juuun juuuun guitar tone.
|
| |
