Track 9 is a reference to Arthur C. Clarke's book "Rendezvous With Rama', which made me smile for a couple minutes straight like an idiot. Based on the tracklist, it sounds like a concept album about some space adventure, but I'm not sure. Definitely based on hard sci-fi novels, I'm spotting several references with sources I don't remember off the top of my head. Loccking forward to buying this the first day its out though haha

I was missing some of those sweet clean licks/progressions from s/t in the previews. Maybe they come later in some tracks. But yah, I'm afraid the new one is going to be a bit more monotonous/less inspired. Hope it proves me wrong also.

more on the electronics and more spastic sounding from what I remember. lacked the metalcore-styled riffing.

I have only heard them once. There was some great stuff but my overall impression was that it lacked some variation. Also don't think Koperweis is up to the standard the programmed drums set. Time will tell though..

Relinquished

yeah variation lacked. the second and third track sound the same somewhat.

I can see that. Playing the drums for CAFO to a tee is damn near impossible.

Drums in the clean tapping section and the fill near the end are ridiculous, yeah.

shit, playing this on guitar is pretty hard

I can do half of the album but the rest is difficult. and that is why learning theory is important.

MO
September 16th 2011
24243 Comments

yea theory is key, I'm a drummer who learned by ear so I have no theory under my belt, besides rudiments which aren't too difficult. have always wanted to learn guitar though

Relinquished

I learned theory in high school and read more after, learned piano inadvertantly with it. and that's why most of the music I listen to is really easy to play or simple sounding to me. nothing really blows me away musically anymore.

Dis_Con_Nec_Ted

Tell that to Ã…kerfeldt hah.

Drummer by ear here also, never learned rudiments, double strokes and all that stuff though,

Yeah, I've been told that a lot. I have tried but I guess it requires real dedication and spending lots of hours on learning a whole new technique.

Also

6. Do Not Go Gently

Does this mean that Tosin isn't a Djentleman after all

lol Track listings mean nothing from an instrumental band. And cmon.....animals as leaders.....it WILL be a good album. No one cares about the song named Modern Meat or Wave of Babies which probably means Jizz.....fuck the names....i'm ready for the great instrumentation that will definitely be heard. And Javier and Navene's input? Can't wait.
