|
| |
classic picture
|
| |
old news. good song nevertheless.
|
| |
I love how the previous article for drake in Sputnik news had to do with him wrecking his knee. Sputnik literally made a news article on somebody's pain.
|
| |
this song rules. also andcas that was an incredibly lame joke
|
| |
i lold when i first saw his wheelchair pic awhile ago

|

I LOVE NICKI MINAJ, I TOLD HER I'D ADMIT IT. I HOPE ONE DAY WE GET MARRIED JUST TO SAY WE FUCKING DID IT.
|
| |
Picture made me lol.
And this song is nice. Drake's first album was a tad underwhelming but this song gives me hope for Take Care.
|
| |
wat
|
| |
don't hate radio artists. drake just sucks really bad.
kanye on the other hand
|
| |
don't start being a fag now
|
| |
I'm one of the few who liked 'Thank Me Later'. This wasn't bad either.
|
| |
not bad
|

| |
Better then everything on thank me later
|
| |
"Minaj fucking sucks."
wat.
And if you don't like "Miss Me" then something's wrong with you.
|
| |
This site was better when the only way rappers made the news feed was by dying.
|
| |
This is surprisingly not bad although he has some stinkers, "Thank Me Later" was a decent album though. And he's from Toronto, so leave the paraplegic alone!
Also wow Omni lol harsh
|
| |
And if you don't like "Miss Me" then something's wrong with you.
it was pretty bad, the only good song was Over and that was just for being a guilty pleasure. But this shows promise
|
| |
Thank Me Later was the jam. back da fuck up.
|
| |

|

Kinda digging this.
|
| |
song is awesome. so is headlines. Can't wait to pick up Take Care
|
| |
drake new album should be "Who care" instead of "Take care"
|
| |
xDDD aw man that was really clever and only a few months late1!1
|
| |
Drake keeps getting worse
|
| |
this song is really so good
|
| |
But seriously, I don't see how you can't like this song.
[x] Ethereal beats?
[x] Internal rhyme schemes?
[x] Dope personal rapping?
[x] Chopped & Screwed bridge
[x] Piano outro?
|
| |
^^^ too right, man. i always thought something really great about drake is the fact that his beats have piano. the sparse piano notes in this song are perfect. i also love the use of piano in "fireworks"
|
| |
Idunno, it just makes me rage whenever people piss on Drake without genuinely listening for what he's trying to do because they hate "that mainstream SHIT!!11" because they'd rather hear conscious rappers.
|
| |
Or they don't know what to actually even LISTEN for in hip-hop, like they think the "deeper" the hip-hop is, the better the rapper is, when that isn't the case at all for the genre.
|
| |
i agree with you, but i'm even more bewildered as to the cause of drake-hate. drake seems to be the artist who induces the weirdest-ever disparity between what's there [e.g., stuff that most Internet People should like! chill, weeknd-y beats and singing! "introspective" rapping! really good atmosphere and flow!] and the opinions of those who listen to them, and i just don't get it at all. for a while, i was willing to pin it on reflexive anti-mainstream shit (and, yeah, i still think that, unless you have a huge wave of Credible Hype like kanye, you'll get shut down for being on the radio too much), but even then, it seems ridiculous. it seems like most people are somehow listening to it wrong or something and subsequently hating it--thank me later still has a like 2.6 average! what the fuck!--even though it fits snugly into their usual taste in music.
i.e. a big IDK from me. can't stop the jam
|
| |
Idunno. I mean, Drake can release some less-than-stellar singles lyrics-wise that detract from his genuine talent (Over, Miss Me, Headlines), but even then you kind of have to admire the amazing production and catchiness of those. I guess the biggest reason for his hate on the site is just the fact that he's mainstream. Then I don't see how they can be like, "Drake is a shitty rapper who only does it for money and has shitty lyrics", then ogle and masturbate all over someone like J. Cole as a genius, when he's kind of mediocre on the mic.
|
| |
its because "personal" "introspective" "self-aware" rap, or whatever you want to call it, is instantly polarizing. it's subjective. either it's too smart for you and it comes off as smug/douchy, or it's too weak and it comes off as trite. depends on the listener.
I don't care about drake's songs' pianos or beats (let's be honest, you can find the same style on a million other albums). If there's nothing amusing or relatable in what he says on the record its going to bore and annoy me, and only the latter is derived from his popularity. I quite like drake on most tracks where he is a featured guest or whatever
|
| |
wut. You really think 40's production is something you can find in most other places? 40 basically has a trademark sound.
and Idunno, mang. Are all personal stories supposed to relate to you? It's a story of this normal kid rising to fame and he doesn't really know what to do with it, but he just kind of comes across the realization that he deserves it. Obviously I don't know what that's like but I find the lyrics conveying what's going on to be a good bridge between his world and mine.
|
| |
"wut. You really think 40's production is something you can find in most other places? 40 basically has a trademark sound."
yeah i've been looking for production that has the same relaxing, sort of beautiful aural quality and inter-song flow as thank me later's for a long time, haven't really come up with anything equivalent
|
| |
idk i don't hear a trademark sound or anything i'd describe as a "beautiful aural quality"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2CUqg9XzE4&ob=av2n
i think this kid's big in greece or something i always used to confuse him with drake when i was stuck with my sisters ipod
|
| |
to me the first three tracks of thank me later are uniquely beautiful but i guess this is just a matter of taste
|
| |
Are all personal stories supposed to relate to you?
na definitely not. but if they don't they should be novel, impressive, amusing.... something I (personally) dont really get from drake's songs.
|
| |
ah i'd edit that if i could to say that: if i can't relate to the song, I would hope that the lyrical content is amusing, etc.,... reads weird the way i addressed that above
|
| |
this jared evan has sort of an embryo of a cool (and, sure, sort of drake-y) idea for the beat but it's not very good. maybe if he were richer /irrelevant
|
| |
yeah i don't care much for his stuff either
|
| |
I really dig drake. I find his flow and singing so smooth. He really has an amazing singing voice. I find myself skipping to drake's verses and hooks in wayne or any other artist's song he's featured in. It feels like I'm one of the only few people who is legitimately excited for Take Care. Idk just rambling.
