09. Folklore
10. Marrow Of The Earth
UH OH BEEN LISTENING TO AGALLOCH WATCH OUT
|
| |
it might be a sign of this sucking
because agalloch sucks
|
| |
Predictable song titles.
|
| |
whoa there
|
| |
04. Slither
UH OH BEEN LISTENING TO VELVET REVOLVER WATCH OUT
|
| |
Knowing the length of the songs would be nice.
|
| |
Predictable song titles.
oh okay how many titles were you predicting?
|
| |
All of them but Haxprocess, although none of them were as predictable as the album title.
|
| |
whoa ur psychic
|
| |
ok nostradamus
|
| |
Should be good.
|
| |
Knowing the length of the songs would be nice.
your ex-gf said the same about you
|
| |
Two first person titles. Interesting.
|
| |
"your ex-gf said the same about you"
Ummmmmm..... Care to explain yourself?
|
| |
Clearly your ex-gf wanted to know the length of your song titles.
|
| |
use your god given detective skills
|
| |
someguest being an asshole again
i like it
|
| |
you should never say yes when you really mean no
|
| |
"you should never say yes when you really mean no"
That's what your ex-gf said about you
LOLOLOLOLOLOLZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!11one
/someguest
|
| |
idk man, Jens Bogren who worked with Opeth had these titles
Heritage
The Orchard Keeper
Famine
The Outerdark
Lines In Our Hands
Cities of the Plain
The Crossing
Children of God
might be bullshit but some of those "official" titles seem suspect to throw off leaks and shit. Slither, and the blatant Agalloch references. hmmmm......
|
| |
yeah just because agalloch were the first people to use the words "marrow" and "folklore" everyone ripped them off
|
| |
You just don't know how making music works obvs.
|
| |
His description makes it sound like every Opeth album.
|
| |
"you should never say yes when you really mean no"
That's what your ex-gf said about you
LOLOLOLOLOLOLZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!11one
/someguest
huh
|
| |
Surprised there hasn't been one comment on "HAXPROCESS" yet, lol.
|
| |
And I expected them to say something important here.
|
| |
Interested to see the album art even though it will inevitably be shot in black and white in the background with a contrastingly vivid focal point slightly off-center.
|
| |
that would be me
|
| |
i hate this band
|
| |
oh okay thanks for the insightful comment Ire
I am cautiously optimistic about this album...
|
| |
TaLiSmAn, the "bong" in your avatar makes no sense at all, wtf.
|
| |
Holy scrollbar Batman.
This better have more godam death metal than Watershed.
|
| |
interesting
|
| |
OMFG
this'll be the album to end all albums.
YES IT WILL
|
| |
Oh shit, first Track 10 in the history of Opeth...
|
| |
The only predictable song title, was the self titled song....
Looks like another amazing album...calling it
|
| |
band was so predictable
|
| |
This might be their grave. At least if the music sounds like the titles do.
|
| |
looking forward to this.
|
| |
hopefully it's better than their last few
|
| |
and the collective sputnik boner is born
|
| |
This is pretty typical Opeth. This also means it will be awesome (I hope).
|
| |
Interested to hear this
|
| |
I'm watching River Monsters right now. Psyched for this album.
|
| |
I'm hoping for a Still Life meets Watershed. But I heard talk that they are going to take their 'soundscape' on a more Jazzy venture.
I can't find the video of it, but there is one of them playing pure-Jazz-session. They do it quite Well.
|
| |
Talisman, you motherfucker. Stop wrecking the goddamn page formatting.
|
| |
I think you'll need a slightly deeper understanding of our music as a whole to be able to appreciate this record.
pfffft
|
| |
Akerfeldt is a cool guy. I'll probably listen to this even though it will probably be the same thing they've been doing for years.
|
| |
pahahahaah
agalloch guitarist put this on his facebook
Don Anderson
is working on a new Agalloch song entitled "Blackwater Parking Lot"
|
| |
LOL at Don Anderson's comment. It does seem suspicious, though.
|
| |
"marrow of the earth" is a blatant ripoff from marrow of the spirit. not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but it's certainly where they got it from.
|
| |
""marrow of the earth" is a blatant ripoff from marrow of the spirit. not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but it's certainly where they got it from."
because agalloch were the first to use 'marrow' as part of a title
|
| |
they were probably the first to use "marrow of the" and to use the same title a mere half year later from a band that are often compared to Agalloch (for some reason) is suspicious. again, not a bad thing, Agalloch influence in an Opeth album could be good.
|
| |
Guys you can't use words that's stealing.
|
| |
Noctus, please just stop.
|
| |
but i don't want to :[
i'm not saying opeth are ripping them off but it's probably where they got the idea from, that's all :]
|
| |
gonna be sick
lol comparing agalloch to peth
|
| |
Is this the first Opeth album with more than 9 songs?
|
| |
nope, MAYH
|
| |
shit, nvm. i counted the bonus tracks
|
| |
Sounds pretty interesting...
|
| |
Flexo's all up in dis bitch
|
| |
It'll be 'good'.
|
| |
I wonder how many review this will get.
|
| |
marrow of the earth and folklore are probably just friendly pokes at agalloch
but no you guys have to take that so srs
|
| |
well actually considering Opeth have badmouthed Agalloch in the past I doubt it's just "friendly pokes" :]
|
| |
oh well then
opeth is a lot cooler in my eyes then
|
| |
they have?
|
| |
They're two of my favorite bands, so I hate to see any sort of bad blood between the two. These "quotes" from Mikael that people have been addressing, though, (here, Don's Facebook, and elsewhere) don't seem to be all that legit. But this whole song title thing...
|
| |
yeah :]
bassist said on facebook:
Jason Walton in an interview once he said something to the effect that he doesnt waste his time with bands like agalloch who are doing now what they did 15 years ago.
they also said something about them being ripoffs or something and they got compared a lot.
doubt the bassist would lie so hm idk
if it's not a coincidence, it's not a friendly poke. if it is a coincidence, oh well, who cares, still interested in this album. :]
|
| |
link?
|
| |
agalloch is boring as shit who cares
edit: lambda cares
|
| |
to what? the interview itself? he couldn't find it so we have to take his word for it. to don's facebook where this all happened?
http://www.facebook.com/donlanderson/posts/10100412231341988
not sure what his privacy settings are but if you can't see it just send him a fr/rq.
i doubt he'd lie about it, they're not the kind of band to start meaningless drama.
|
| |
Well neither is Opeth which is why I'm interested in this... lol :P
EDIT: Yeah I can't see the link
|
| |
a lot of the material i hear on the mantle is stuff i've heard in my arms your hearse and morningrise
so. um.
|
| |
send Don Anderson a friend request then, he'll probably accept it.
a lot of the material i hear on the mantle is stuff i've heard in my arms your hearse and morningrise
so. um.
never made that connection before, how so? :]
|
| |
Okay
But wait Martin Mendez said that in an interview? I'm a bit confused lol..... :/
|
| |
i'm not sure who in opeth said it but apparently they did, so it seems strange they'd use that title knowing there's a bit of friction between both bands
you'd think that they'd try and distance themselves by not using similar titles
but whatever, i'm not sure i care anymore :]
|
| |
Excited
|
| |
Wow, I've seen more positive comments for Job For A Cowboy's new EP than this album is getting. Despite Akerfeldt's retarded description this sounds like it will be another welcome addition to Opeth's discography.
Positive outlook guys, come on.
|
| |
Shit band, all albums are 1/5
Fucking pieces of shit
|
| |
Never seen Tourette's in a post before...
|
| |
Probably going to sound more like Damnation like anything else.
|
| |
I don't know, there was a LOT of talk that they plan on using their Death/Black Metal style more prominently on this album.
|
| |
oh yeah...freaking stoked!!
|
| |
The Devil's Orchard is a fucking great name
|
| |
i first tougth the song titles where a joke lol...
the marrow of the earth...
|
| |
Yeah I really like "Dead Winter Days" by Agalloch.
Did Amorphis say anything about that?
|
| |
So everyone here is psychic?
|
| |
Seriously people are you mad? How can a word like "folklore" be a rip off of anything for fuck sake? Why is marrow of "put here anything you want" a rip off of anything? Did Agalloch made those words registered trademark? I feel like my IQ has dropped a hundred just reading your comments guys.
|
| |
^^^^ fuck oath. so many smack talkers on here.
|
| |

i think you entirely missed my point. i'm not calling opeth a ripoff of agalloch due to similarities in song-titles, christ. what I'm saying is it's weird to use such similar titles when there's friction between both bands. if I was in Opeth's shoes and I saw Agalloch used a uncannily similar title 6 months prior, i wouldn't have used it and I would have
chosen something else. i just find it weird, that's all. :]
|
| |
The track titles Jens Borgen gave are so much cooler. I'm really hoping this is just some sort of joke/decoy track-list.
|
| |
me too [:
|
| |
Fuck me, Opeth are ripping off the marrow of my bones.
|
| |
this album will likely be better than marrow of the spirit, regardless.
i mean, unless my fears of this album being 10 tracks of Burden come true, that is.
|
| |
opeth only badmouths agalloch cause they're american whaaa what whaaaaat
|
| |
lolpeth
|
| |
How was Heritage predictable...
|
| |
I think you mean typical, or cliche, not predictable.
But I guess if you mix those up you're probably not really qualified to make that judgment.
|
| |
Expecting a plethora of 4.5 and 5 ratings.
|
| |
Everyone above was stating how the title/titles was predictable. It sounds like a typical title for Opeth, but I quite enjoy it.
|
| |
Oh hey, opeth.
|
| |
woa fantumlim sighting
|
| |
ape kene ngan korang nih!? Mengutuk je lbih!
|
| |
oh! god damn! shit! fuck!
|
| |
Why does everyone hate Burden so much? That is by far my favorite song off Watershed. Serious question by the way...
|
| |
The Lotus Eater > Heir Apparent >>> Burden
|
| |
holy shit helioscope avatar fucking awesome
|
| |
heir apparent is by far the worst part of watershed and the album's only weakness.
oh god what am i doing, this is an opeth thread.
|
| |
I found Heir Apparent to be one of the album's strongest tracks. As well as one of Opeth's best. "Coil" was probably my least favorite. Actually, I hate that song.
What didn't you like about Heir Apparent though?
@acorncheese - I know, right? :p
|
| |
Can't wait for this. I don't want to believe the whole shit-talking thing because I like both bands. Also didn't think members of either band would openly badmouth their peers.
|
| |
@DarkNoctus is it possible that you've read that comment for someone who's made an account in facebook and named himself Martin Mendez just for lolz.. or?
|
| |
-__- Yeah right, marrow of the earth is a rip off of Marrow of the Spirit.
In that case Marrow of the spirit is a rip off of Marrow of a Bone by Dir en Grey -__-
|
| |
pretty sure jens bogren's tracklist is the right one
|
| |
Album will be good.
|
| |
Altmer:
Album will be good.
Altmer.
|
| |
is it possible that you've read that comment for someone who's made an account in facebook and named himself Martin Mendez just for lolz.. or?
it's definitely him. i've spoken with Don Anderson and it's him for sure, so I doubt he'd let some fake keep commenting on his stuff.
|
| |
brb can't like Opeth anymore because people on Sputnik will make fun of me
|
| |
look guys that Aden guy listens to OPETH! faggggg! :]
|
| |
...noctus, is he one of your buddies from one of those lgbt metal forums you were talking about?
|
| |
He's talking about Jason, Agalloch's bassist, saying this stuff on a Facebook thread. This has nothing to do with Mendez.
I've searched the internet high and low for any legit interviews with Akerfeldt mentioning Agalloch and found squat. Probably just a rumor started after some asshole posed as Mike in a random forum or something.
|
| |
...noctus, is he one of your buddies from one of those lgbt metal forums you were talking about?
nah but he is my buddy :]
|
| |
i see, i see...
so i was close then.
|
| |
kind of :]
|
| |
LGBT metal forums? I did not know those existed
neato
|
| |
get on msn and i'll show you one :]
and we can listen to the new unexpecccttttt
|
| |
Nees more priest sex
|
| |
Opeth fucks all your fucking faces. Fucks.
|
| |
