Declines in the music genre? I always thought this franchise was one of the current favourites.

I've been an avid player since the first game, and I'd have to say it's about time this happened. As much as i love these
games, they can only make them for so long.

Decline in the music genre is bs. If they made another one it'd be a huge hit, again.

i haven't played one of these games in a few years since i picked up the guitar for real. about time they stopped making these. they where fun for a while but the gimmick wore off quickly.

After World Tour, there wasn't really a need to rerelease the game. Just put it all in as downloadable content.

GH II and III are the best ones of the genre to this day, but ever since rock band its been over for guitar hero. though i did play 5 and it was cool. i use the guitar from GH5 to play rock band 3 now. sigh.

Between the layoffs at Harmonix and now Guitar Hero getting axed, the world of peripheral-based rhythm games seems just about dead. Then again, I still play Rock Band on a near daily basis, so that's gotta count for something.

Activision are scum, they just drive games into the ground and then fire everybody when the game starts losing steam.

I don't care for GH but they are doing the same shit to COD, but I doubt people will wake up and stop buying COD/shitty $15 mappacks anytime soon.

About time, was kind've getting annoyed about how many versions/knock offs there were. Though I must say it was a good way to introduce people to music, myself included.

GH3 owned so hard, the songs were fun but most of all it definitely had the smoothest gameplay, i have rock band too but it just feels so clunky and robotic compared to how guitar hero used to play

actually I went to a convention about games/animation and saw a presentation from the guys who made DJ Hero who told us that GH6 and RB3 bombed sales wise. makes sense to me for them to axe it.

When it comes to learning real instruments, GH can actually slightly help. I at least got better kick separation when playing it.

Guitar Hero is a video game. Telling somebody to get their ass off Guitar Hero and learn a real instrument is the exact same thing as telling someone to get off any other video game and learn whatever the hell they want. Yes, you can put less time into video games and more time into something productive, but what would be the point of video games at all? There is none, aside from entertainment. We enjoy playing them, so leave it at that. Guitar and Guitar Hero are not equivalent.

Anyways, I thought Warriors of Rock was the best game to date, but I feel like they catered specifically to the expert players, which led to the bomb in sales.

guitar hero went down the drain when activision bought the rights to it. harmonix is where it's at. hopefully rock band will do well now that there is basically no competition.

I personally think that the series could have continued to flourish if Guitar Hero had taken a more rock band like approach and released a game every few years, focusing on dlc and improvements to the genre. Guitar Hero dug its own grave with a shit ton of releases. Greedy Activision bastards. I also believe this same thing will happen with call of duty soon.

Bit of a shame. I'd have liked to see a Pro mode in Guitar Hero since I prefer having more time to hit the notes.
