Just went 0 to BONER in 1 second.
| |
Oh shit. Listening now.
| |
^ haha
I've waited for this for 2 f***ing years, and when I hear about this, I'm in class? Blue balled!
| |
BLUE BALLED SO HARD
| |
last minute ruled so hard, fuck the hate for this band
| |
It's alright. I wanna hear some more tracks off the album.
| |
Can't listen at school, I WANNA HEAR D:
| |
Just went 0 to BONER in 1 second. [2]
| |
lyrics are good too maybe people will stop pissing about arif not writing them this time
| |
FUCK YES.
| |
It's alright. But then I didn't love Fortress's first couple songs when they were originally released, and that album kicks ass, so....we'll see.
| |
fuck, I'm at work =/, it's been a long wait for this
| |
I liked that kinda jazzy-sounding softer part. Hopefully there's more of that on the album.
| |
no surprises here
not a bad thing though
| |
i was absolutely a fan of this band. but the vocals on this new song are really making me sick. that first line where he stretches out the word "loose" makes me want to fight him, a fight he wouldn't win.
| |
tough guy
| |
"where he stretches out the word "loose" makes me want to fight him, a fight he wouldn't win."
Pussy.
| |
production is really nice but rody walker really needs to decide if he wants to sing one note or 20 notes a second because he's stuck in between and sounds so awkward
| |
Love that transition to the triplet feel at the end.
| |
Just went 0 to BONER in 1 second. [3]
| |
holy tits this is awesome
| |
This sounds like a b-side from Fortress.
| |
"This sounds like a b-side from Fortress."
This sounds like an A-Side from Scurrilous.
| |
The song is damn good, and i have no problems with Rody's vocals
| |
this is the shit. its definitely better than i anticipated.
| |
This is good yes sir this is good.
And oh man, this album will be a blast to learn.
| |
"This sounds like an A-Side from Scurrilous."
...makes me wonder then.
| |
Never had any doubt, can safely say I had no reason to
| |
Good.
| |
This rules so hard.
| |
no screaming vocals, but that's fine with me, it still kicks so much ass
| |
and here goes the sputnikjizzfest
song rules
| |
"and here goes the sputnikjizzfest"
as well as 99% of guitar players who listen to this band
| |
OH MY FUCKING GOD YES!
| |
This is relative to my interests.
Very excited, march and april are great months
| |
relative to your interests or relevant to your interests
| |
Awwwyeeeeeeeeeeeee
| |
Wonderful community debut^
| |
good song....
and I guess Rody thought carefully about his vocals on this... I guess he is aiming for vocals that can actually be replicated live....
| |
Single kicks ass. As long as there are no Dragonforce keyboard solos on this album, I will be happy.
| |
Sounded like Fortress part 2 until the cleans came in. I have so much mixed feelings for them.
| |
sounds like pth. woohoo!
| |
Hell yes.
| |
and I guess Rody thought carefully about his vocals on this... I guess he is aiming for vocals that can actually be replicated live....
singing lyrics that weren't written by someone else certainly helps
| |
Just went 0 to BONER in 1 second. [4]
| |
whoa.
| |
i guess i'll give this band another try
| |
pretty awesome. no screaming makes me a sad panda though
| |
just jizzed a little.
| |
damn this is good.
| |
more like 0 to boner in 0.0001 seconds
| |
I was so excited by the guitar wankery that I didn't even notice the lack of screams on first listen.
| |
Tyler, did they post lyrics somewhere or do you have them due to your connections with the band? If they're available somewhere, can you link them?
| |
Pretty good song but was hoping for some screams or growls in it.
| |
Tyler, did they post lyrics somewhere or do you have them due to your connections with the band? If they're available somewhere, can you link them?
I just got them from listening. They're pretty easy to pick up.
| |
Pretty damn good song.
| |
too bad the vocals suck
| |
Just different enough to still have relevance in their discography. Hopefully the album does a little more to expand.
| |
between this and DBM2, it's shaping to be a bangin' first half of 2011
| |
I'm on the fence...
| |
Sounds like a sloppy version of Dream Theater with even worse vocals.
| |
Pretty awesome song.
Above comment is absolute horse cock.
| |
Ive only listened to it once so far, but it doesnt seem to have much to it. Ill probably get more into it the more I listen though.
It does sound different from there older stuff too. Not worse, just different.
| |
It's not terrible but it's not fantastic...pretty average [2].
| |
Pretty sweet. I really should listen to more of these guys.
| |
Above comment is absolute horse cock.
It's true though.
| |
lol @ implying that james labrie is a better singer than rody walker
| |
this is real good, i cant wait for their other 9 songs
| |
Dude, his vocals are terrible. They always have been. Band is like uninspired prog metal for scene kids.
| |
Nothing substantially different, still good though
| |
you deaf?
| |
haha if you say so
| |
i'm going to 'loose' myself if he sings like this one more time...
aha, ergh...
| |
Where are the screams???
The song still rules, like..... a lot!
| |
That was awesome, so good
| |
Haven't listened to these guys in ages, forgot how fun they were. Song in wonderful, can't wait for the new album.
| |
Like the whole production sound of Fortress a bit more, but I loved Rody on here and the guitars were tight. Really liked this song and even though I like the more post-hardcoreish aspect of Kezia better than any other PTH work, I'm still enjoying the more prog-oriented direction. This was great.
| |
Fortress sounded a bit too compressed, I think the entire band sounds much more natural on this; guitars, vocals, everything.
| |
no doubt the album will be awesome. Probably won't top Kezia for me, but it might be able to beat Fortress
| |
"This sounds like an A-Side from Scurrilous."
Someone's got jokes ;)
| |
fuuuuuck yeah. i'm with the folks who want some harsh vocals, but fuck yeah
| |
This sounds like a b-side from Fortress. [2]
Was literally going to say the same exact thing. I wish they would have progressed more. The beginning of the song sounds exactly the same as many moments from Fortress. Not bad, I just expected better
| |
almost time to 5.
| |
like 9th kickass thing coming out in march lmao
| |
if the rest of the album is better than this song, i'll give it a 4.5 for sure.
| |
Can we just abolish the genre label "progressive"? It's just troll bait and it doesn't mean shit anymore because everyone likes to put artistic stuff in their songs
| |
I feel the same as everybody else, I was expecting a little more but I still have high hopes for this album. Definitely needs more harsh vocals
| |
Eargasm.
| |
*BREAKING NEWS*
ARIF MIRABDOSADJSDOIJWOIA JUST MADE A HOT POCKET
| |
they dont make vegan hot pockets your news is false
| |
Damn this sounds good. My interest in this album just increased ten fold!
| |
this sounds like vintage Protest the Hero, which isn't a bad thing. if it a'int broke, don't fix it
| |
heyyyy...this doesn't suck
| |
"they dont make vegan hot pockets your news is false" oh man that would be so awesome if they did. Maybe I'd succeed in being a vegan if they did.
| |
What is it with songs about sex tapes recently?
| |
It's not terrible but it's not fantastic...pretty average [3]
It will probably be a grower but I don't think it is a good opening track when set aside Bloodmeat and No Stars
| |
""where he stretches out the word "loose" makes me want to fight him, a fight he wouldn't win."
Pussy."
Pusssssssssssssy. fixed
song is great can't wait for this album to come out
| |
awesome song. could go for more crazies, but damn, im ready for new protest.
| |
I wouldn't go that far.
| |
it was alright
| |
This might be the best thing they've ever written.
| |
lol @ implying that james labrie is a better singer than rody walker [2]
Song's already better than anything on Fortress that isn't Bloodmeat. Not a huge fan of the band but I'll definitely check this out.
| |
this is fucking awesome
| |
This might be the best thing they've ever written.
Alongside Dimitri and Divine Suicide... nah. But this is pretty damn awesome, I'm on my fifth listen right now.
| |
I wasn't sure at first, but that is great.
| |
When "Bloodmeat" was released, and I heard it for the first time, I listened to it somewhere in the ball park of 20 times in the next few days. That was one of the best singles they could have released, and it is still one of my top PTH songs.
This won't have that same effect, but it is definitely good.
| |
I actually think this might be the Bloodmeat of the album, ie. one of the "tame" songs.
| |
I thought it was pretty good.
| |
when did Bloodmeat become one of the better songs off of Fortress? it's all about Goddess Bound and Goddess Gagged.
| |
I don't mind what the album might be based on this song, but I would like some heavier tracks too.
| |
Yeah this is good shit.
| |
Hell, if all the songs are like this I'll be more than happy. Anything else is just bonus.
| |
omgholyshitomgholyshitomgholyshitomgholyshit
| |
That was fucking cool. Started off pretty slow for PTH standards (just guitar wankery) but it picked up not long after. This album will be awesome.
| |
Really really surprising, I didn't enjoy Fortress all that much but this is good (gives me impressions of a better Kezia).
| |
the vocals turn me off from getting into these guys
| |
Ya it could be a misrepresentation of what the album might be, but as a single it still works. As a random aside I'm one of those people who thought "Bloodmeat" was eh.
| |
All in all, it is one song from an LP. It's all speculation, so put away your Jump to Conclusions mat.
| |
"when did Bloodmeat become one of the better songs off of Fortress? it's all about Goddess Bound and Goddess Gagged."
man after my own heart. I listened to those 2 songs today before destroying my psych exam. they're the best. and now this comes out? hell yes.
| |
GG sucks, GB is much better.
| |
"your Jump to Conclusions mat"
fucking lol
| |
not bad
| |
It didn't catch with me as much as I wanted the first time through, but it caught on quickly. Damn, I love me some PTH
| |
definitely not their best song to whoever said that above but it's still sweet
| |
Fuck yes!! Last minute of the song is soooooo damn good :D
| |
To those of you who pre-ordered Fortress, is it better to pre-order it from Protest's site or Amazon?
| |
Song's good - will hold my judgment of the album until I have heard the album, and not just one track though
| |
Just went 0 to BONER in 1 second. [whatever the fucking number is supposed to be.]
| |
I didn't care much for this until the last minute of the song which was amazing
| |
"Someone's got jokes ;)"
I also have nudes of tim's beard, going for a HIGH price.
| |
this is pretttty fucking sweet. one thing i noticed this the drummer kinda did step his game up a bit which is good because his work is one thing i feel could be spiced up.
| |
Weren't they making a semi-big deal about this actually having more than 10 songs?
| |
Awesome. As long as there are still some heavier tracks on the album I'll be damn content.
| |
hilariously bad
| |
holy shit that was good
| |
it's definitely a lot more "metal" (a la Maiden, Priest), which i guess was true of fortress as well but a bit more noticeable now. it's not quite the evolutionary jump kezia to fortress seemed to be at the time, but this will likely be dece nonetheless.
| |
i dont see this wankery people are complaining about. it seems alot less wankerfied to me. it also seems more... comfortable. less blocky, if that makes sense. the fluidity of the song seems so much better.
but haters gonn' hate, naw mean?
and for the record. the false setos made me jizz.
| |
oh shit
| |
holy shit this is awesome
| |
exactly what was expected
| |
hope they release an instrumental version of this album like they did for Fortress. really dig these guys minus the vocals
| |
yeh im diggin this
| |
I'm liking this more than I did most of Fortress
| |
sounds Iron Maiden-esque
| |
This rocks. Can't wait for the album, it's going to be such a good year.
| |
still unnecessarily wanky
| |
i dont see this wankery people are complaining about. it seems alot less wankerfied to me. it also seems more... comfortable. less blocky, if that makes sense. the fluidity of the song seems so much better.
This. I loved Kezia, but the song structure sometimes had some jarring switches, which made it seem random at times. They have great transitions on this track.
| |
heyyyy...this doesn't suck
lol what?
| |
i love the falsetto
| |
come on guys, its good and all but its not like the second coming of christ or w/e. Hoping theres better songs on the album which i think there will be.
| |
Oh hell yes
| |
People still care about this band?
| |
I think I may be one of the only people who never did tbh.
| |
lol
| |
*patiently awaiting sex tapes*
| |
i like it a lot.
| |
''... As long as there are no Dragonforce keyboard solos on this album, I will be happy.''
This has probably been said hundred of times.... but,
that solo was better than this whole song.
| |
Yea that keyboard solo in limb from limb is pretty much the tits.
| |
where da skramz?
song is awesome, very maiden.
| |
How many more albums can they write where the whole premise is just to add/drop beats and play stutter-y double-kick driven rhythms? Kezia was the shit because they actually had an artistic purpose for writing it.
| |
Learn to let looooOOOOOooooOOOOOOOse!
| |
"Sounds like a sloppy version of Dream Theater with even worse vocals."
Not seeing the correlation, guy. Dream theater doesn't even really play in this fashion at all and tbh James lebrie is horribly nasally and annoying while Rody has more range and better delivery. js
| |
enjoyed that. I like the cleans better on this band. And definitely had a strong Dream Theater feel to me.
| |
WHERES DA SKRAMZ??
| |
was decent. album hopefully will be good. I am a much bigger fan of kezia than fortress.
| |
just leak it already
| |
The new song is great. Was a bit stoked 'bout the scream less nature of the song. But the structure is good. The lyrics are great. And the last minute is god damn powerfull
| |
scream less
| |
Found the lyrics, some of them are pretty cool:
stepped off a building to find concrete evidence, concrete evidence that he'd ever make an impact/fiction splattered into fact
| |
^I liking these words more than the usual historical mumbo jumbo
| |
The lyrics are amazing.
Now this fucking song is stuck in my head and I have to play it every 5 minutes or else I'll explode.
| |
wheres the screaming at though fo real
| |
Can't...stop...listening. Song kicks ass. I think this flows really well, better than some of of the stuff off of Fortress. And I don't mind the lack of screaming. Rody has some nice growls but you can get that from pretty much every other metal band. His cleans are always a nice change from the rest of the metal scene's vocals.
| |
Can't wait for the album now!
| |
Has anybody heard the instrumental version of Fortress? It's hilarious how hopelessly disjointed the music is without the vocals. New Defeater will destroy this.
| |
Song was awesome and album will rule.
| |
how hopelessly disjointed the music is without the vocals.
Uh, no.
| |
oh man i would beat rody up. you guys are right, he is a pussy.
| |
oh man i would beat rody up. you guys are right, he is a pussy.
| |
how hopelessly disjointed the music is without the vocals.
Yeah but...no. I have the instrumental version and it sounds pretty epic to me. The music is certainly chaotic at times but it's certainly not "disjointed"
| |
To each his own, man.
| |
I like this.
| |
I like this.
| |
that one part
sounds like a btbam song
straight the fuk up
| |
oh man, this is good!!!
| |
that one part
sounds like a btbam song
straight the fuk up
Reminds me of that part in Decade of Statues
| |
awesome, this is
| |
Last half of the song is straight pwnage. Stoked for this, especially after that proggy mid-section.
| |
Zzz...
| |
It'll definitely be better than Craig Owens's Sex Tape
| |
Daamn, it's a sausage fest upp in dis bitch
| |
the switch to thirds near the end made me jizz
| |
new defeater pretty much destroys everything.
| |
It wasn't terribad but It wasn't great.
| |
MalcolmX, do you like this?
| |
that was FANTISTIC
| |
holy shit, I don't think I've ever seen a news item carry over to two pages of comments
| |
Im going to bone my girlfirend to this song.... if only it had an instrumental disc releasing at the same time... that would be sweet
| |
alright, i've come around to enjoy this
ugh
| |
Canada has never been so badass
| |
Great song. Sounds like a mix between Kezia and Fortress plus something new (prog influence perhaps). I like how Arif uses more low-end on this one. Also the tracklist looks interesting to say the least.
| |
"People still care about this band?"
I'll kill you, Karl.
| |
sounds good
| |
sounds good
| |
Just as I predicted, Protest the Hero is getting Sputnik worshiped again.
| |
Saw them live on friday and they totally ruled. They played next to C’est la Vie two other new songs which were all great to awesome on first listen.
| |
Just as I predicted, Protest the Hero is getting Sputnik worshiped again.
yeah but they deserve it.
| |
song's aright hope it's one of the weaker ones...and i looooove pth but their lyrics aren't too great (here and pth, using big works in awkward places)...
| |
i looooove pth but their lyrics aren't too great
Sometimes they're a little over the top... thought this particular song had extremely well written lyrics though.
| |
For those interested, Jadea Kelly is back on this album. She did Kezia's vocals on their debut LP.
| |
Only on one song apparently :/
| |
This is growing on me more and more. I'm pretty ready to hear the album now
| |
Yeah, she's on Hair-Trigger and that's it.
| |
Aww...
| |
That was a dope fucking song
| |
why does the word pendulum ever find its way into lyrics...it never works...i like the song more and more
| |
how doesn't it work? it's referring to someone hanging himself.
| |
This is pretty cool, mostly what I was expecting, except that 80s metal voice Rody pulled out at times
| |
The song is better than sex
| |
The song is better than sex
No it isn't.
| |
Depends what kind of sex.
| |
