Radiohead Begin Recording #7

2006-10-16 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 21 Comments
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has confirmed the band have begun recording their new album.

In a not very informative plea for fans to support some campaign or other, Yorke dropped a line about the band's activities.

"if it scares you speechless and wakes you in the night.
if you are bothered about the flooding you keep seeing.
or those high winds.
or that there is something not quite right about the fact you're still walking round in a Tshirt in october.

"please find out about the the big ask campaign
www.thebigask.com
we are hassling all MPs in the uk to write to our glorious leader and get a bill that commits us all to reducing carbon emissions 3percent a year. its a start. it has to be law. otherwise its never going to happen. and it has to.

"ahem speech over.
weve started the record properly now. starting to get somewhere i think. finally.

"love thom

"p.s. if you're american and wondering whether this is a load of old crap look at this flashy website if you have time

Well, that's about as much out of Thom as well ever really get, so I'll take it. I've been looking forward to this album for quite some time! The new stuff they've been touring with sounds really interesting - I'm not quite sure what to expect out of LP number 7. It's hard to judge where they're taking their sound, but then again, that's always been the case.

Someone should ban Thom from making posts on the internet.

YES! I've heard this might be their last album. So I'll be sad if it is.

Looking forward to the new album, but I don't want it to sound like Hail to the Theif.

I hope they ditch the HTTT sound, especially since Yorke's solo album sucked.

I'm going to buy a drum machine, sing in a soft crooning style, and play a few random effects on guitar/keys then release it before the new radiohead comes out! The dudes from GYBE couldn't have described radiohead better... http://brainwashed.com/godspeed/oor.html
I honestly don't think they will ever even come close to OK Computer. This Message Edited On 10.17.06

I don't think anything they do has or will ever come close to OK Computer.

This album is going to be awesome. All I Need, Bodysnatchers, Nude, Down Is The New Up, 4 Minute Warning, Videotape, are all great tracks.

Livewire: "I don't think anything they do has or will ever come close to OK Computer."

Kid A was almost just as good as Ok Computer.

Down Is The New Up

Creative genius... *The* paradox of the paradoxical... Thom Yorke is a master of life and lyrical might ;-p
I listened to Kid A so many times to try and like it -- after The Bends and OK Computer, how could you not? But seriously, what a steaming load of pretentious crap. Radiohead (in their current state) are the most overrated "artistic" band in the world right now.

HTTT was their worst since the Bends. I can't wait for this shit. And Kingsoby, Kid A is their best album, I hate to tell you.

Kid A is amazing. I guess I just hit the "Kid A is genius stage", because I couldn't get into it either, it just takes time. Another HTTT would be meh, but at least its Radiohead.

Electric City, I think we have polar opposite taste, judging from this and the Interpol thread.
