The National Anthems Revealed

'Just' has been voted the greatest Radiohead song ever by readers of NME magazine and NME.com. The list was compiled to celebrate Radiohead's headline slot at last weekend's VFestival (August 19-20) in Essex and Staffordshire, England. The two slots were the band's first UK festival apperances since Glastonbury 2003 and saw Thom and co play to around 130,000 people in the space of two days.

'Just', the third single from 1995's classic album 'The Bends' saw off competition from other Radiohead classics such as 'Paranoid Android', 'Fake Plastic Trees', 'Lucky' and 1994 single 'Creep'. The complete list can be found in this week's copy of NME. But you can have a quick look at the top 10 below:

1. Just
2. Let Down
3. Fake Plastic Trees
4. Creep
5. Paranoid Android
6. Exit Music (For A Film)
7. Karma Police
8. My Iron Lung
9. Lucky
10. 2+2=5

Radiohead are now currently on the final leg of their Summer tour. The band are said to be going back into the studio after the tour to work on their seventh album, which is due in 2007. Tracks rumoured to be featured on the record include 'Arpeggi', 'House Of Cards' and 'Bangers 'n' Mash (working title)'.

I don't even think 'Creep' should on the list all together

That list is pretty much as bad a list as a list with all Radiohead songs on it can be.

Not a song from Kid A or Amensiac. What's the world coming to. I guess they just took Radiohead songs that had guitar in them. Terrible list.

Amen to that. Or Amnesiac for that matter.

For classic crowd pleasing Radiohead songs it's not a bad list. My Iron Lung and Let Down are two songs that shouldn't be anywhere near the top 10 though. Let Down isn't bad at all, it's good, but just not top 10 material. And My Iron Lung is completely mediocre.

There should be a song or two from Kid A and Amnesiac though. Everything in it's right place and I Might be Wrong should be up there. Also, where's Street Spirit?

Street Spirit?
Packt Like Sardines in a Crushed Tin Box?
Bones?

I love Radiohead, but that list is pretty bad. Paranoid Android or Exit Music are the best ones on that list.

Wow what a horrible list, missing all the real good songs and putting in all the singles. IF we're doing singles, "Just" over "Karma Police"

Why is a list of singles horrible when it's a list of Anthems? The singles are clearly more anthemic, as more people know them.

Everyone disagrees what the best Radiohead songs are anyway.

To circumvent such an innovative band with a silly top ten list is irresponsible if not comical. Is this NME's doing or is it stolen from the David Letterman catalog of top ten lists?

No offence guys, but this thread is so full of OTT Radiohead fans.

Kid A is crap, and the list is alright, if a bit faulty. Karma Police should really be at the top. I'm more surprised that Street Spirit isn't on there.
