Megadeth to perform "RIP" live

2010-01-26 by kygermo | 52 Comments
Since the much-anticipated "American Carnage" tour has been postponed due to Slayer Vocalist/Bassist Tom Araya needing back surgery, Megadeth decided to not sit and wait. To add to an ongoing trend amongst bands (and to also make fans pass out in excitement), Megadeth will perform their absolutely classic LP "Rust in Peace" in it's entirety on their upcoming tour of the US with direct support coming from thrash legends Testament and Exodus. In addition to Megadeth performing a classic of theirs, Testament will also perform their classic "The Gathering" as well. This is a tour the most dedicated Metalhead should not miss, and the tour dates are as followed:

March 01 - Spokane, WA - Knitting Factory

March 02 - Boise, ID - Knitting Factory

March 03 - Medford, OR - Medford Armory

March 06 - Calgary, AB - Big Four (TESTAMENT w/ special guests)

March 07 - Edmonton, AB - Shaw Conference Centre (TESTAMENT w/ special guests)

March 08 - Saskatoon, SK - Prairieland Exhibition Hall

March 11 - Indianapolis, IN - Murat Theater

March 12 - Pittsburgh, PA - Palace Theater

March 13 - Buffalo, NY - Town Ballroom

March 15 - Washington, DC - 9:30 Club

March 16 - Baltimore, MD - Rams Head Live

March 18 - Scranton, PA - Scranton Cultural Center

March 19 - Norfolk, VA - The NorVa

March 21 - Atlanta, GA - Tabernacle

March 22 - Asheville, NC - Orange Peel

March 23 - Memphis, TN - Minglewood Hall

March 25 - Houston, TX - Verizon Wireless Theater

March 26 - Austin, TX - Stubb’s Amphitheater

March 27 - Lubbock, TX - The Pavilion

March 28 - El Paso, TX - Club 101

March 30 - Tucson, AZ - Rialto Theater

March 31 - Hollywood, CA - Hollywood Palladium (TESTAMENT w/ special guests)

Testament's playing The Legacy, not The Gathering.

Which sucks, because Legacy is boring.

makes me angry. i bought tickets to american carnage which is postponed. I will not be in the U.S. and will be unable to go when they re-schedule. Now I see Megadeth on tour which is great, but they aren't playing anywhere near me.....

Saw this, I might have to drive to Scranton to catch this.

But RIP is incredibly overrated imo. I only really enjoy about half the album, like some of their other releases much better.

WHAT? What do you mean, you don't like it when vocalists sound like they've huffed a whole bunch of helium?

Pretty much. His vocals on their recent albums are my favorite.

He's the only thrash vocalist I know with a voice like that. It works for some songs, but not all of them. Like I've been saying, part of why I tend to like newer Megadeth more is because of the vocals. But Peace Sells is still my favorite.

Not really. RIP is the worst vocal performance of any thrash album I've heard. Honorable mention to Taking Over.

Grr. No Norcal / Bay area dates. Hollywood may as well be a state.

Double-grr. Providing I COULD get down to Hollywood, Exodus won't even be there.

Is Exodus performing Bonded by Blood in its entirety?

"RIP is the worst vocal performance of any thrash album I've heard. Honorable mention to Taking Over".

What about any Metallica album other than Puppets and Lightning? Those are some terrible (though tolerable until Death Magnetic) vocals.

Are you serious? His vocals have vastly improved over the years IMO, I'd call Endgame his best vocal performance yet.

Right, then you'll also recall that he never went into any of the high-note bullshit there was so much of on RIP. So unless he's going to use the Endgame style vocals for these songs, then this will sound terrible.
