still overall, from a non-metal news source this list is better than most. they got the right Mastodon album at least.
and i think the list might suffer from a few "oooh this is new, let's add it" selections.

I think it was just one metalhead making the list (the metal blogger guy), which helps, as no one else from the AV Club had to
pretend to know about metal.

i would say right opeth, dillinger, and tmv album. watershed is the only opeth album i like a lot.

This is probably one of the best metal lists I've seen put out from a website. They even have Melechesh, that's awesome.

Pretty good selection for a site that isn't based off music.
The Mars Volta isn't that metal, but it should be on some top list.

Listen to Deviant all you people saying SOAD's self-titled should be on the list. Also read the list title again and again until you realize why.
