kick ass. i can't wait

Eh.. that means more Ben Kenney. I miss Dirk Lance
|

I hope they return to their roots of funk rock on this one. I'd like to see Ben Kenney prove to be an adequate player to fill Dirk Lance's shoes. Crow was a pretty bad album, if you ask me.

I agree with bassist201 and Desolation...Knowing that the bass work will most likely just be average doesn't excite me.
|
| |
We'll see, let's give the guy a chance on his second LP he plays bass on. I mean, Crow's from early 2004, that's over two years. He has made progress in his playing, who would not within two years?

Lame album but name, but whatever. I've been waiting for this album for two and a half years.

w00t. I miss my Incubus, but I miss Dirk Lance more

"Light Grenades"
Oh, here we go. They are going to write a bunch of songs bashing the war and Bush, without adding a single new idea. Incubus should go back and do whatever the hell they were famous for in the first place.

Or you can wait for the album to actually come out before you pass judgement. And how the fuck do you get the war and President Bush out of that album title? This Message Edited On 08.03.06

Why does everybody hate Ben Kenney so much? Watch "Alive at Red Rocks" and listen to his solo material and you'll see what an amazing bassist/multi-instrumentalist he actualy is. Plus, his playing on ACLOTM isn't even THAT bad. This Message Edited On 08.03.06

I think its because Dirk Lance was such a unique and powerful player. I loved his bass lines (See ALL of Make Yourself and SCIENCE) and he has a great grove. He is such an underrated bassist and his playing REALLY did make the band, more than people realize.
I think when you remove such an important cog and replace him with a bassist without his charisma (Not knocking Ben, but he is better known as a guitarst...at least with The Roots), you miss it. I miss the beauty of Make Yourself and Morning View...knowing Dirk isn't there means that Incubus wont go back that route again, which is very sad for me at least. /rant

tbh, I'm starting to prefer Kenney over Lance, simply for the fact that he knows how to "colour inside the lines" more in regards to the actual music. Lance is good, but at times a lot of his pseudo-funk tricks verges on the inane.
Other than that I'm greatly looking forward to this album. This Message Edited On 08.07.06

Brings me down how many jump on the bag-out-Ben bandwagon, he's a great bassist with a lot of experience and he isn't in that band by accident.
It'll be good to hear what they come up with now that they've had plenty of time to gel with eachother.

Awesome. I like the new bass player, moreso than Dirk. Definitely going to look out for this one.

Awsome news! I think Ben is a great replacement, he just has a different style. After hearing ACLOTM and the stuff from the Halo 2 and Stealth soundtracks, I know that they can make awsome music without Dirk.
|
| |
Dirk was kind of holding them back, in my opinion.
|
| |
Yikes I forgot about the Halo 2 stuff. Maybe Ben Kenney can do something

what is the name of the album?hope its nice cause i like the old album like make your self and science.people under music hi im new in this furom slave olso of sound hope im welcome 2 this site of forum like this.

Crow was a disappointment BUT this album they have had way more time on it so I am expecting it to be decent. Still November is a long time, they said it would be released in May... still hopefully this means it will be better.
Ben Kenny is a great bass player and can play alot of different instruments. I do think they may have missed Dirk, but Crow wasnt a great album because thats the direction Incubus went in, not simply because they had a new bass player.
