Canberra is pretty good. Tidbinbilla, Parliment, War Memorial, Telstra Tower, Questacon, National Library, National Art Gallery, Dinosaur Museum (though that's pretty lameo). Canberra at least has attractions. Adelaide has only the Barossa Valley 100km away, and maybe the Clipsal 500 and Fringe Festival.

Parliament is a place where schoolkids go to sleep before visiting Questacon or the Institute of Sport (which is also boring as fuck). The War Memorial is the only really interesting place I've been there, questacon is good but once you'd done it once, it's never quite the same.
Never visted National Library so I guess that'd be cool. What's the Tidbinbilla?
But yeah, seriously, it has a few attractions but every other concievable part of it is tedious. Even the houses and streets look exactly the same.

tidbinbilla is the space center. remember going there once in year 5 and having an interesting time. lots of dishes.

Tidbinbilla is one of NASA's three Deep Space Networks which tracks Voyager I & II (both from the 70s), and of course newer probes such as New Horizons to Pluto. Parkes is also part of this network. The Tidbinbilla dish is a little bit bigger than that of the Parkes dish.

No, Perth doesn't yield any such radio telescopes. However (and this is really exciting), Australia has won the bid for the Square Kilometer Array telescope, which will be based predominantly out of Western Australia. Essentially, starting from a central point, radio telescope arrays the size of one square km are placed in a logarithmic pattern resembling a spiral, starting from Western Australia, the most outlying station will be located on Norfolk island off New South Wales. So I will resemble a telescope larger in area than Australia itself. The sites collectively will be processing so much data, in under a week they will be able to process more information than what is currently on the internet.
I'm somewhat surprised that Opeth aren't visiting Perth though. Adelaide is usually the one they skip. But essentially they're doing the big three it looks like.
