Evenescence Bassist Leaves

2006-07-17 by Stormy Smiley Face | 14 Comments
Amy Lee announced last Thursday on the Evanescence online message board about William Boyd leaving the band.

"A few weeks ago, Will decided to leave the band," she wrote. "He said that he just can't go through with another huge tour right now, and wants to stay a little closer to his family instead.

"...is hard -- you kind of have to sacrifice your life for it. So we can all understand." She added that Evanescence "love Will very much," and that they collectively wish him "nothing but happiness in everything he does. We've been playing music together since I was in junior high. I miss him already."

"The Open Door" will be released October 3. William's leaving the band does not affect the soon-to-be announced tour.

He was probably like "Wait, which one am I again? Nobody knows who the hell I am because any band with a female lead singer means I'm instantly forgettable." Look at the band picture up top for proof: they're just a bunch of generic white guys standing behind Amy Lee.

Maybe he secretly knew he could do better with his life. It must be hard to have to go out in public and say, "yeah, I played for Evenescence." I couldn't do it...God rest that poor soul.

Kim Gordon is arguably the toughest bass player out there.

if terry leaves before i can hear how he sounds with evanesence i will be pissed. i'm still pissed he left cold.

as far as will,i can understand how being with your family would be more important.

i don't know if i could make a choice between music and my family.

he probably realized there was no talent left in the band since their main songwriter left quite some time ago.

If I was in Evanescence, and knowingly had to put up with another horribly depressing tour, I'd go spend time with the family as well. Or top myself.

didn't their lead guitarist leave the band to go work for... avril laveigne (spelling on that is questionable). that tells you something about working with amy lee if you'd rather want to work with avril than amy
