I think they got the list the wrong way round.

Glassjaw, High On Fire, At The Drive-In, Converge, Opeth should all be well above most of the trash in the top 20.

But hey, it's Kerrang, who really expected any better?

I don't even know why anyone compiles a list like this. It is so objective. For example, this is terrible imo and it really only considers artists that have broken through to the mainstream.

I could have compiled a better list when I was 13, and still listened to overwhelmingly shitty music. Because even in that state of mind, I knew Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water would NEVER, EVER make a Top 50 best albums list.

I am disgraced to say I ever even laid a hand on this atrocious magazine, even if it was for a brief moment. Once.

Well...

It's not SO bad. I enjoy a lot of these bands actually.

But it doesn't really make much sense. It's just a fan 'compilation' with no real rhyme or reason to it.

It considers artists that are popular and well known. It was voted upon by the general populous, and the sad fact is that the majority of people are going to listen to (and enjoy) Limp Bizkit over, say, Cynic.

That being said, I'm really surprised to see some of the entries that got onto the list. I didn't think anyone remembered that Funeral For A Friend album, and the fact that Gallows is on there sort of blows my mind.

Sad to see three different Slipknot albums on here, and the best one is the lowest on the list. Panic! shouldn't be on there, nor should BFMV; '21st Century Breakdown' shouldn't be on there (but to tell the truth, I don't mind 'American Idiot' being #1; regardless of whether you like the music or not, it was a monumental project by a band that I would have never expected it from).

Happy about Muse; happy about Deftones; happy about System; happy about ATD-I; pleasently surprised to see both Alkaline Trio and Glassjaw. The entire list is out of order, though.

All in all, very typical, very mediocre list. Then again, I didn't expect all that much from it.

This could very easily be the best 50 albums of the decade (for that kerrangs fan base), excluding a few like Limp Bizkit and Slipknot (1 album woulda been fine). They just got them all in the wrong order. I have no issue with Linkin Park and Panic! At The Disco on there. As far as mainstream music goes, those two albums weren't that bad at all, like for example, I thought Panic! brought a pretty nice new perspective on the stale pop punk genre.
