Looks like the tracklist and pre-sale isn't up yet, will update later.

Im always here for a new album from these guys even if their last effort didnt do it for me
|
| |
while i enjoyed antimai, i still prefer their 2006-2016 run more. looking forward to this anyway. shame the tour destinations dont touch scandinavia : (
|
| |
they were great in Melbourne the other week even though I was extremely disengaged whenever they played Antimai songs
|
| |
Yeah, this does very little on first listen. Idk, it seems nice rationally but their new stuff just is not that engaging for some reason.
|
| |
Agree. Boring honestly.
|
| |
I thought it was pleasant, especially the 2nd half!
but there is definitely a lack of something, yano
|

GOAT band idc what anyone says

This feels more expansive and engaging than Antimai, so you can call me stocked for the new album.
I also kinda vibe to their sci-fi psychedelic sound they displayed earlier on North American EP and on an Honorary Astronaut project.

The unfortunate thing about The Act albums is that they set such a high standard for everything else to follow. So much so that for me personally, when I listen to this single, I found myself completely bored just a few minutes in. I felt kinda similar with their last album and EP.

I'm confident about everything this guy does will turn out to be just rock-solid. Feeling like his music slightly shifts into the jazz fusion, prog rock territory with some elements in here remind me of guys like Plini. The strength of his grandioso nature for the arrangements potentially falls victim to the more convenient decisions the whole album has to offer. There's some cool sections, let's see if the bass and vocal ideas find a way to work together hand in hand and let the vocal intervalls let loose a bit more.

"Where The Road Parts" is their best song, agreed.

Love it, I find this band's new releases never hit on the first listen, but after the second or third I get addicted. Loved Antimai, it's a great introduction to this new arc.. This new album should be more of a longer epic like we're used to with their Acts.
From what I'm reading the Glass Desert parts end the album. The album is more world building about the areas outside of Antimai. The album starts with "The Wasteland", there's also another song called "The Plains" which has been played live before.

I enjoy Antimae and this sounds good too!

--The unfortunate thing about The Act albums is that they set such a high standard for everything else to follow--
This is only somewhat true for me because I think they peaked with Color Spectrum, and still managed to impress with Acts IV and V afterwards even if they weren't quite as perfect. Nothing stopping Casey from writing Act VI, but I suspect he'll follow his artistic intuition wherever it leads him, not necessarily where I / Sputnik want him to go. That said, I actively disliked Antimae after being a fan of just about all TDH's prior work. About to listen to this song and hoping for the best.
Edit: Didn't hate this outright, but it is definitely kind of elevator music-y. I'll listen to the album when it comes out but this feels like more of the same with regards to Antimae which isn't good.

very ehh song with a nice outro

The Tracklist for the album:
The Wasteland - 7:16
Marauders - 3:26
The Bazaaretieria 5:01
The Glass Desert I - Giants - 5:18
The Glass Desert II - Cliffs and Stormlands - 7:27
The Glass Desert III - The Plains 5:42 Sunya - 8:03
Definitely thought we were coming back with a longer one, looking forward to it however. I'm hoping because there was a lot of time in between this new album and the last, the next one comes quick like Act 4/5. It's all been world building thus far, so maybe the next one will follow our protagonist.

I'm a TDH lifer but this single just ain't doing it for me sadly. Feels like a very odd choice to lead-off on.
Been 5 years now since Antimai and I was also hoping for a longer LP but I still have faith lol

Antimai was majorly slept on in my opinion. Ring 6 - LoTown into Ring 5 - Middle Class is one of the most underappreciated one-two-punches that these guys have done, I'll die on that hill.

This is one of those bands that i can just never get into for some reason
