"Katatonia on the new album: " Our 12th album, Sky Void of Stars is a dynamic journey through vibrant darkness. Born out of yearning for what was lost and not found, the very peripheries of the unreachable, but composed and condensed into human form and presented as sounds and words true to the KATATONIA signum. No stars here, just violent rain."
they literally could say that about every album they've written in the last 25yrs. i like this band but they've really become a 1 trick pony. i. get it. sad darkness.

Seeing them tomorrow! Can’t wait!
|
| |
austerity huh
|
| |
jonas' vocals kinda have a different timbre to them on this track, feels like this is the first shift in his voice in like the last 15 years lol
|
| |
Surprisingly heavy and intense track for them, Jonas Renkse sounds better than ever.
|
| |
Just saw them 4 days ago and it was sweet. That Cellar Darling, Ocean, Katatonia tour is a classy show
|
| |
always pumped for some new Katatonia. Hoping this one is better than City Burials
|
| |
Sweet, can't wait for the song with Joel. Also finally, a Katatonia song titled Birds.

Yeah normally that bugs me but in this case It Ain't Broke, etc. I love their one note lol.

I don't mind it, cause no other band sounds like them. I was listening to the latest Naglfar record today thinking, not only does this sound like the last 4 Naglfar records, but it also sounds like literally every other melodic black metal band. It was exhausting to listen to. I don't get that from Katatonia, at least not yet ;)

Katatonia haven't done wrong in the last 30 years and they sure as shit haven't started now. Great track.
|
| |
Both singles are real good.
|
| |
Progs nicely, not sure I like that big sound

"I don't mind it, cause no other band sounds like them...."
Maybe "In The Silence" is similar. Also Ghost Brigade is fucking awesome.
|
| |
I miss Ghost Brigade.
But Katatonia is not one-note. They’ve got through several metamorphoses in their career, which all arcs back to a Katatonia-sound. City Burials is their only “meh” album for me (Dead End Kings is close but has enough great individual songs). I thought Fall of Hearts was actually their best album ever.
|
| |
"In the Silence - A Fair Dream Gone Mad" is actually really similar to the Fall Of Hearts sound. Check it out.
|
| |
This starts off kinda boring but does pick up a good bit. Not their best by any stretch but it's good and has a couple nice wrinkles
|
| |
I will check out In the Silence for sure.

Very excited about this record, but also already sick of Midjourney AI art being used in music videos and album covers. It's lazy and already overdone, and I feel like we still haven't reached the apex of popularity. At least the editing is cool in this video.
