Icarus the Owl reveal single 2

2017-10-17 by ProjectFreak | 14 Comments
Technical punk-pop band Icarus the Owl announced a new single, "Dream Shade" from their upcoming album, Rearm Circuits. The song also has a music video.

Frontman Joey Rubenstein said of the song: "This song is about the many forms that abuse can take. Despite its destructive and malignant affects, we pass it off as normal everyday behavior. We focused on neglect and broken homes for the video."

You beat me to it!!!

I love this song and I think it's far more what I wanted than Failed Transmissions (but I love that one too now). Joey sounds great. It's definitely still an odd-time song but it's not as busy as older works which is fine! That instrumental break is reminiscent of the one in Skysweeper and it's tasty as hell.

Even more excited now

This is so great. But damn those time signatures are hard for me to keep up with at times. Which isn't a bad thing, just makes me feel inadequate haha.

Liked the first single, but definitely liking this one quite a bit more. Band is always pretty solid!

I agree with the general consensus here, I liked this a lot more than the last single. When the band focuses on emotion and not just the impressive technicality, they do great lines (Peak and Valley Lines and Esophagus come to mind)
