Rusko Cypress Hill Collab

2012-01-24 by Deviant. STAFF | 44 Comments
Blazed out hip hop veterans Cypress Hill have teamed up with the apologetic accidental founder of brostep, the cockney thug Rusko for a five-track collaborative EP.

Conveniently titled Cypress X Rusko, the EP was recorded in the United States over the last 6 months or so.

According to B-Real: “We’ve always been the type of group to take chances on doing something radically different than what people expect from us. So this carries with the tradition of us going out of the box. If it’s not something that we embrace then we don’t dare mess with it and this is something we fell right into the pocket of.”

Though no official date has been given, the EP is set to be released at some point in April this year. Head on over to SPIN where you can stream, and score a free download of lead single 'Roll It, Light It'.

In related news, Rusko is still set to release his sophomore album Songs, the follow-up to 2010's O.M.G.! (what is it with this guy and album titles?). You can stream the official video for lead single 'Somebody To Love' at the link below.

Mad Decent will release Songs on March 26, following a UK tour

I can't imagine how Cypress Hill's output could be improved by Rusko, who is essentially just a twat. From Birmingham. Where all the other cockney thugs are from.

Can't believe no-one picked up on my "other steps" line... Disappointed. Also, this is either going to be awesome or wank, there is no middle ground.

last year DJ Muggs put out this promo video about him falling in love with dubstep and making a dubstep record which
was supposedly going to see the light of day last year but never did. Rusko can be amazing but he can also make some
lackluster choices so i'm hoping these turn out alright, im also hoping that this DJ Muggs album makes its way out
eventually because i think he could make some great bass music

That Rusko track is pretty fun IMO, but he's so far past his peak it's ridiculous. I keep hearing about him and people act like he should still be a big deal despite the fact that everyone is disappointed with everything he's put out for years.

I'll check out his album when it drops but I'm not expecting anything great.

Same goes for the Cypress collab, track was decent and it will undoubtedly be better than Korn's effort, but it won't be good.

It was an inadvertent thing. He became popular, started touring the US in '07 and introduced you yanks to the wubs, who then, as they've done numerous times in the past, have since done all they can to fuck up the genre

Yeah i got the full version from that e-mail sign up bullshit. Not bad, not good.

And yeah, as someone from the US, it's fucking embarrassing what we've done to genres that were actually cool before we got a hold of them.

Though I must say, you did have a hand in inventing the blues, even if it was just the hand beating the black man mercilessly with a whip until he jim crowed a tune or two.
