He's just the drummer that every kid thinks is the greatest, so he gets extremely overrated. He's decent but not nearly as good as most think.

Nothing he does is spectacular, that isn't why he's idolized. He's idolized because one he writes catchy stuff. It isn't difficult it just sounds good. Also Blink 182 is one of the biggest punk bands of all time and he is hands down the most musically talented member as far as their instruments go.

if you think that technical proficiency is the most important part of playing an instrument. don't get me wrong, he's a great drummer, but it's like saying yngwie malmsteen is the best guitarist because he can play the fastest.
i think his playing lacks something; groove if you will.
