English rock band Muse have officially announced that electropop singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding will be featured on the band's upcoming tenth studio album, The Wow! Signal, set for release on June 26.
The collaboration, titled "Hush", will appear as the album's ninth track. To share the news, Muse posted a screenshot of a tweet Goulding made back in 2012, in which she revealed that she had dreamed of being part of the band.
Speaking with Rolling Stone Italy, Matt Bellamy said: "...by mere chance, Ellie Goulding was in the studio next door. At that stage, we were working in an open, experimental way, to see what would happen. At first, there wasn’t even any mention of an album. Then that song started to take form and it sounded good. I’ve known Ellie for years, we’ve seen each other often, we’ve told each other several times we should do something together. And by pure coincidence, she arrived at the studio very late, around 11 pm, as we were about to leave. She came in asking if she could listen to what we were working on. We had her hear the song and she liked it. That’s how the idea of a duet was born. It was a happy accident: she was nearby, we were experimenting, it just happened naturally."
The band recently released the album's fifth single, "Nightshift Superstar," alongside its accompanying music video. Meanwhile, Goulding has kicked off the next era of her career with "Black Prada Dress," the lead single from her upcoming sixth studio album, I Know Too Much, due out on September 4.
