"...so we wanted to honor our history..."
riffs confirmed??

pretty standard insomnium but ill take it
|
| |
Hopefully the album is better than Anno, that shit sucks.
|
| |
Sounds fine, no surprises at all.
|
| |
Very average song
|
| |
Yea the catchy nature they were aiming for certainly shines through..it's a single through and through all right. Hoping for some 8 min long epics like Autumn, Song of the Dusk etc...
|
| |
Funny to say something like "I wanted to make a banger" about your melodeath band, and then the song sounds pretty much exactly like what I'd expect from them.
|
| |
midsomnium
|
| |
in fact this isn't even mid, it legit sounds like an alt rock song with a bit of growling over the top, bloody awful
|
| |
I mean it's basically a given that MDM bands that have been running for 2 decades plus mellow out as it's happened with Soilwork, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and now these guys. All of these bands later output can probably classified under a new genre vs their original stuff. I fortunately enjoy the new direction, but I can see why older fans wouldn't.
|
| |
i disagree that soilwork or in flames have mellowed out - definitely different from their origins but they're still very riffy and energetic. even DT still has riffy guitars. this is far, far more mellow than any of the bands you listed.
i'm one of the few who liked argent moon - insomnium's most mellow release - because it at least still felt more substantial and melodic. this song is such a nothing burger in comparison.
|
| |
Maybe mellow is a bad choice of word sure. But they cranked down the aggression in the vocals and slowed the tempo while still remaining lively sure
|
| |
yeah that's fair to say.
|
| |
this is just so far beneath their capabilities. it feels like this is the kind of song they want to write now - fair play - but it's just dull and uninspiring
|
| |
I swear at some point every melodeath band just forgot what rhythm guitar is.
|
| |
Yeah idk this is like
If you stripped down 80 percent of Across the Darks layering and presented it as an Insomnium song
It's serviceable but in truth the band plays way to close to their chest sometime to a degree where maybe it was inevitable they'd become a more boring form of themselves
|
| |
This already feels like a future Insomnium classic. I'm always amazed by how they can build an entire song around a simple melodic idea and keep it engaging from start to finish. The guitar harmonies, rhythmic shifts, dynamics, growls and clean vocals, key changes... every element serves the song. Thank you for creating music that still gives me chills after all these years.

Intro gives me The Killjoy vibes
|
| |
Song is a banger, can't wait
|
| |
Catchy chorus but that’s nothing new. Song is very mid for them. Super safe and very formulaic.

Song is a banger, can't wait [2]
|
| |
It's alright but the main riff is very by the numbers gothenburg
|
| |
Hopefully the album is as good as Anno, that shit rules.
|
| |
Band is churning out mid-shit now. Let's not even lie

This is like if I asked AI to write a modern Insomnium song. Kinda trash song. Band is falling fast.

Is it the best Insomnium song? No, but I’ll take it.
|
| |
It's ok, but they lost me after Winter's Gate.
