i'm glad they arn't being dicks about it. but i wonder when it will be available on line
| |
Here's hoping the brick and mortar stores recognize the importance of getting a legit digital download up and don't stonewall them.
| |
good good news. im glad i havent listened to the leak
| |
I think almost all of Thrice's fans, even if they download it, will still buy the CD, and support the band. Thats how die-hard their fans are. I know i am going out and buying it asap.
| |
^yea but still, maybe its naive to think this but i think they feel bad that fans would first experience it with the watermark...i mean i bet they're real proud of it, they made themselves so accessible with the updates and the pics of them building the studio...if i was really excited to share something i worked so hard on, id be a little upset that my intended audience couldn't wait...even if it is, in reality, a HUGE ego-boost that the work was so coveted...
| |
"Finally, we’d like to thank those of you who have resisted the urge to download this leak"
FUCK YEAH THRICE THANKED ME (h)
| |
i wouldn't download a watermarked copy of anything
| |
i wouldn't download a watermarked copy of anything
adam downer does something heroic
| |
Does anyone else agree that piracy gutting the music industry would be a fantastic improvement in the sonical department?
| |
Well watermarked copies are retarded...
Good way to handle the situation, glad they're not dwelling on it as what's done is done and there's no sense in kicking at a dead horse. 3 months is pretty shitty, feel for them, but there's been a few records in the last little while to be leaked ridiculously early, unfortunately it happens (or fortunately, depending on your perspective).
| |
best move they can do tbh.
| |
not gonna lie. i downloaded it. im sure 95% of people here did too. I will definitely buy this as soon as i can. I was not nor am i currently a huge thrice fan, but this album is close to a masterpiece.
| |
The Weight, Circles, Doublespeak, In Exile, Wood & Wire, Beggars are all SUBLIME
aaaaaand this might be my favourite Thrice release behind TAITA
| |
I wanted to download it but I couldn't find. Now I'm glad I didn't.
| |
I wanted to download it but I couldn't find. Now I'm glad I didn't. yeah it's always good to be on thrice's good side you never know when they'll turn
| |
If you're unable to find a leaked album on the internet, then you don't deserve to hear it anyway.
After one spin, this thing's fucking stellar, with a shit ton of potential to grow on me even more. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out, like the good Thrice fanboy that I am.
| |
doublespeak is simply amazing. plus like i said... 1984 reference ftw.
| |
About 8 total playthroughs so far, pretty good.
| |
Didn't download it. Don't like watermarks. It'll be worth the wait, I'm sure.
| |
I haven't downloaded it...I only have one thrice album tho.
| |
Cool story, bro.
| |
would that mean thrice will stay to their original release date?
| |
Great news.
I did download the album but I have to say it's definitely incredible. For sure going to buy this.
| |
Yes, Thrice thanked me as well. "You're welcome" gents.
| |
This album doesn't have a bad song. So fucking good. Can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy.
| |
So is it good?
| |
yeah.
it's good.
| |
The Weight is so good it should make every band alive consider giving up music
| |
what does this album sound like?
I havent really listened to these guys since Artist in the Ambulance
| |
The best description i've heard is Vheissu with a) more groove, b) more Earth, c) more Radiohead.
But idk mostly it's just fucking great.
| |
^ That is good.
| |
really
let's say airth
| |
Seems like Thrice thanked many people. I have never heard of watermarked music until now. Lol
| |
i didnt hear the elemental albums so saying it sounds like air or earth doesnt really help me much but ive heard vheissue a long time ago and know who radiohead are
| |
pretty much what you'd expect them to say
watermarks are gay gonna wait that shit out
| |
it's not like the watermarks make impossible to hear the song. it's only like 5 seconds once a song
| |
can't even notice it in some songs tbh
album is like vheissu without the post-hardcore, didn't think i'd like it but it rawks
| |
i said
FUCK THAT SHIT
| |
At least they didn't pull a page from Metallica's book and denigrated their fans for downloading their music -- the same fans who have put them where they are.
| |
watermarks are gay gonna wait that shit out
you'll download in like a week. no one can resist new thrice for 3 months
| |
nah dude i'm pretty good on waiting when it comes to thrice
| |
Im just getting into them so it's kinda easy for me.
| |
At least they didn't pull a page from Metallica's book and denigrated their fans for downloading their music -- the same fans who have put them where they are.
probably because they download music as well
| |
or maybe they're just not douchebags
| |
The fact that people are saying they have gone in the direction of either air or earth (or airth) pretty much points to the fact that they liked Vols 3 & 4 of The Alchemy Index better than the first 2 volumes. And yeah, they're right.
| |
what do each of the elements represent?
i might give them a listen
| |
Vol. 1 & 2 > Vol. 3 & 4.
| |
Lady Radiator.
| |
fire =?
water = ?
air = ?
earth = ?
| |
dude theyre the elements they dont represent anything
| |
Hahahah
| |
? = the divisions of their last album
| |
Their previous two studio albums comprised The Alchemy Index. Each album contains two of the four classical elements (Vol. I=Fire, II=Water, III=Air, and IV=Earth). They made each album "sound" like its corresponding element (e.g. Fire is sort of sludgy and wicked, Water is mostly ambient, Air has a lighter overall feel, and Earth is predominantly acoustic [that was a very brief synopsis]). They did different things while recording each volume, such as putting microphones in wooden boxes and burying them for Earth.
| |
^ tl;dr amirite?
| |

Thank you
| |
Ill take a ring...
| |
4.5/5. in exile and beggars are best.
| |
Not my favourite Thrice album but have to say the production on it just stellar.
| |
You'd better send me a ring too. It might help me fight off the temptation.
| |
congratulations i now christen fromtheinside, Shrapnel94 and BenedictVII the new Jonas Brothers.
| |
I didn't download this. I'm awesome.
| |
Jonas Beggars.
| |
I shall resist...
| |
It's growing on me, but I still dont see the fuss on this one.
| |

edit: to resisting
| |
it's beautiful, makes my ears very happy and they should be proud.
| |
new ptw couldve probably gotten me through this, just dld tho i couldnt resist... god will be extra pissed now that ive been hearing theyre a "christian rock" band... wtf?
| |
ever notice how Damrod's avatar blinks every once in a while?
| |
oh it does to!!
| |
I've heard that if you stare at it long enough, nothing happens.
| |
what 1984 reference?
| |
Beggars is their best since Vheissu.
derkchewie11, people are saying that "Doublespeak" is a 1984 reference, although it isn't really (doublethink was the term used in the novel). The term "doublespeak" was coined after Orwell published his novel...
| |
I like how some people talk about Thrice's last two albums like red-headed bastard children.
| |
so theres a song called doublespeak?
| |
I usually listen to the leaks than pick up the album when it comes out... I love thrice so that's why I'm not going to download the leak and buy the album when it comes out. besides, they have a new tune coming to Guitar Hero this week. that will do.. for now.
| |
Gotta wait this one out...it'll be worth it
| |
i find the first two tracks to be weak. but i enjoy the next 3 ill have to sit down and listen to the whole thing sometime. i do hear a lot of the air /radiohead in it
| |
download took one minute
| |
eh .
| |
i didnt even know it was leaked tbh. Thrice were cool about it though, cant wait to hear the album.
| |
listened to the Indexes
so far
water>fire = wind> earth
| |
water > fire = wind > earth is my exact opinion as well.
"The Weight" sounds just like a song off In Rainbows until it gets Thrice brootal.
| |
The Weight is arguably the best song they've ever written imho
| |
I like "Circles" more, and you can't beat "The Whaler" or "Paper Tigers"
| |
its air WTF is this wind bullshit this isnt captain planet
| |
Is the weight from the new album?
Listening to the water index reminds me so much of Kid A
| |
did you learn that at theacademy
| |
Yeah I like Circles a lot better then The Weight, but Circles is as far as I have got to, so onward to more listening.
| |
Shit lucidity is right. Well its close enough!

Haven't heard any watermarking and I'm nearly done with a song.
