Hmmm, it looks as if Muse are swinging for the stars. This could either make them one of the biggest & most popular bands in the world OR bring their egos down a notch or 15. Fingers crossed.
|
| |
oh look, subtitles in french, HOW VERY ARTISTIC
|
| |
Just on that, the french subtitle on track 8 apparently means "My heart opens itself to your voice".
A week in France & I am now an expert.
|
| |
What a wanky tracklist
|
| |
I think it's interesting to say the least... looks like things could be quite different from what they did before.
|
| |
I predict this album will do absolutely nothing to change anyone's opinion on the band...
|
| |
like this band wasn't pompous enough
they still rule though
|
| |
I'll still cream over it
|
| |
What a wanky tracklist
NOT ENOUGH IF YOU SEEK AMY, amirite
|
| |
Don't like it but it's going to at least sound cool
|

I find it funny how people moan and groan over the track list. Just wait until it comes out ffs. I don't care about the names of the songs, just as long as they sound awesome.
|
| |
they trying to be coheed
|
| |
Except Muse are good and Coheed aren't
|
| |
Why would you try to be coheed?
|
| |
i guess i overestimated them
|
| |
Except Muse are good and Coheed aren't
lolololol
|
| |
Except Muse are good and Coheed aren't
HERESY.
|
| |
both aren't good
|
| |
false
|
| |
I don't agree. I've heard them. ICK! (Coheed that is)
|
| |
well you like hard manly nu metal vocals
|
| |
I heard Coheed and my balls clenched. In a bad way
|
| |
And Illuvatar you're from Britain right or am I misunderstood? Muse isn't that popular in the states.
I'm pretty sure he's American, and I'd say Muse is pretty popular in America. They've had five songs in the top 10 on the rock charts and have had a bunch of songs in Rock Band and Guitar Hero, which of course is how a lot of unfortunate people learn about new bands. And the tracklist is pretty much par for the course for Muse, I'm interested to hear this symphony.
|
| |
40 bucks says alligator will not know what everybody is talking about.
album title now makes sense.
|
| |
Coheed>>>>>>>>>>>Muse. its not even close.
|
| |
You're doing it wrong
|
| |
both are sickeningly overrated, though coheed has more talent
oh nevermind both are meh
|
| |
why did you edit
|
| |
because there was no point in trying to attribute a band I can't listen to
|
| |
Coheed>>>>>>>>>>>Muse
No they're about equal, except Muse's best album >>> Coheed's.
well you like hard manly nu metal vocals
Don't forget he's gay
|
| |
How did this become a Coheed/Muse discussion??? In any case both bands are on my top 10 list. Cant wait for this album. Second most wanted album this year.
|
| |
they trying to be coheed
Blame handoman for everything
|
| |
coheed are in the studio!!!
|
| |
wtf Coheed is sick, fags.
|
| |
I love Origin of Symmetry and Absolution is pretty good but I wasn't big on their latest. Might check this out still.
|
| |
The problem with BH&R is that, besides Map... (which is one of my fave Muse songs) all the singles were varying degrees of shit
|
| |
album will either be epically awesome or epically awful
|
| |
I'm excited.... they have yet to put out a bad album so hopefully they'll continue that trend
|
| |
I'm such a huge Radiohead fan that I've never been able to get into these guys, they're just underwhelming to me, I'd rather put on some 'HEAD.
I mean Origin of Symmetry, like, the whole concept just screams OK Computer, I like the first track and then meh
but hey I dont mean to put these guys down, Ill listen to them some more
Also C&C rule
Edit: The tracklist is lol and wannabe if the album is bad and just right if its good, thats how it goes
|
| |
damn, that tracklist has got the swag!
|
| |
My enjoyment of Muse has decreased steadily since Origins. I think this trend will continue.
Tracklist reminds me of Coheed + Green Day
|
| |
Reminds me of the new green day tracklist
|
| |
9. Exogenesis: Symphony Part I (Overture)
10. Exogenesis: Symphony Part II (Cross Pollination)
11. Exogenesis: Symphony Part III (Redemption)
Heard/read things over the internet about Matt writing some huge orcestral piece that has been in the making for years. Hopefully this is it and it rocks socks.
|
| |
lol people need to just stop, calm down and take a deep breath and remember that...
It is basically impossible for muse to release a bad album! Origin, Absolution and BHAR are all classics in my opinion and at LEAST worthy of a 4/5. Showbiz was a bit meh, but that was when they were starting out.
|
| |
"... thus making them one of the most popular bands in the *world*."
Point taken John. What I was attempting to state was maybe one of the top 10 biggest bands in the world. Muse sell out an arena easily here in Australia because they have loyal fans.
However, I can tell you that I have a group of friends who casually follow music & they couldn't even tell you what country Muse were from or name 3 of their songs. I guess that's what I was more getting at. Where-as they could rattle off the same info on the likes of U2, Green Day, AC/DC, Springsteen, hell even Blur, Oasis & Arctic Monkeys. You would be surprised at how many people (especially in the U.S & Aus) still have no idea that a band called Muse exists. Of course, that's their bad luck. I still want the night back where they could play at a smaller venue. Best gig I've ever seen.
|
| |
shut up daveyboy
|
| |
Coheed is fucking awesome but back on topic this is going to rape the whole world's butthole.
|
| |
probably not.
will be good tho.
|
| |
soundless (we could only wish re: your user-name), you should begin sentences with a capital letter & end with a full stop. Also, the D & B of my user-name should be capitalized. Unless there is another user-name without them capitalized of course. In fact, I'll just have to presume that, which means I can go on my merry way... :-)
|
| |
I dunno DaveyBoy... assaults on ones grammar are so last year.
|
| |
Yeah, but he's merry.
|
| |
I have jetlag. It still feels like its 2008 to me.
|
| |
Comments here remind what it was like when Tool released their tracklist for 10,000 Days. Everyone was either OMG SUX LOL or YEH RITE FAKE until the album came out. Then people became normal Tool fans with YEAH YOU SEE THIS TITLE REFERS TO SOME ESOTERIC CONCEPT THAT ONLY US TOOL FANS GET.
|
| |
I need to actually listen to these guys at some point...
|
| |
yes you do!
|
| |
Which album should I start with?
|
| |
If you prefer for mainstream music, try Black Holes and Revelations, If you like more alternative music try Origin or you could just get absolution because most people love that one as soon as they hear it...
you can't really go wrong unless you pick up showbiz.
|
| |
Just get Origin of Symmetry.
|
| |
Just get all four, they're all at least 4/5s
|
| |
album will either be epically awesome or epically awful
|
| |
I've got faith in Muse to make this into something good.
Coheed is still better though
|
| |
Fucking Claudio Sanchez' hair being big enough to take over a Muse thread
|
| |
Muse are better than Coheed
|
| |
ok i will keep that in mind for the future daeveyboy
|
| |
i don't understand how half the posts about muse's new album have coheed and cambria in them
screw you handoman
|
| |
all i did was mention coheed. everyone else got all offended and started comparing the two bands. real mature sputnik
|
| |
Let's comment on what we think of the tracklist and not what we think of Muse being compared to Coheed.
The tracklist looks quite odd to me whereas Muse created simple song layouts, this looks more like a concept album or something short of an epic. I don't know, but I'm listening to this as soon as possible.
|
| |
Tracklist looks good to me... then again, I'm the only person here who seems to think that Black Holes and Revelations was their best work.
|
| |
way to state the obvious blimps.
|
| |
Album will almost certainly rule a thousand faces
|
| |
yeah it will be good
|
| |
It's either going to slay or I'm in denial
|
| |
coheed are in the studio!!!
=O
|
| |
gtfo
|
| |
dont think it will suck... i hope its really progressive
|
| |
intrigued/optimistic

Anyone else heard about that?
|
| |
Yup. they're going to be called pretentious but I can't see it being bad. I've been excited for this
|
| |
Last time I thought I shouldnt judge an album by the tracklist, it sucked ass (*cough*thesoundsofanimalsfighting*cough*)
Although muse usually does no wrong, I guess this should turn out with a happy ending.
|
| |
SO MUCH FOR MY HAPPY ENDING
|
| |
"Tracklist looks good to me... then again, I'm the only person here who seems to think that Black Holes and Revelations was their best work"
Your not alone...I tend to agree as that album was my first muse experience.
|
| |
Your not alone...I tend to agree as that album was my first muse experience.
Well, there you go.
|
| |
I'm allways back in forth, One day OoS is the best for the alternativeness, the next its Absolution for the concept, then BHaR for the diversity.
|
| |
This is basically all of the info known so far about the album by way of interview, magazines, etc.
1. There are at least 4 symphonic tracks on the album for sure - United States of Eurasia and the Exogenesis symphony
2. There are themes of Revolution, Governmental Brainwashing, Love, Exogenesis
3. The symphony is still a 'epic space opera' as originally stated
4. Influences include Saint-saens arias and Berlioz's Requiem
5. 'Uprising' is described as "a heavy-rock take on Goldfrapp. It has football-style chanting, with all of us going 'Oi!' in time with the snare drum. It's meant to be football hooligans chanting in protest at the banking situation"
6. Some songs take an influence from "contemporary R&B, particularly Timbaland - heavy beats, syncopation, very melodic, rhythmic vocals." Songs will use drum programming - Expect a lot of irresistably catchy dance tracks, even more so than Supermassive Black Hole
7. 'Undisclosed Desires' is cited as a particular example of the previous point. "It's the first song we've had where I don't play guitar or piano." says Matt - perhaps the most electronic track Muse has made yet
8. By the end the album's almost purely classical in style.
9. Rumours suggest that the first single will be released around the middle of July, and is most likely to be United States of Eurasia, due to the huge focus on the song by Matt
|
| |
Nice job ADAMWD
Now, go kidnap Bellamy and do what we discussed
|
| |
middle of july sounds quite early for the first single
way to get avril lavigne stuck in my head titan u ashole
|

Also, here is some detail on The Resistance according to Zane Lowe who has listened to it a couple times.

Great sum-up of the info Adam. Unsure I like all the references to dancier music to be honest. I know they're pushing the envelope (& many around here will like that), but I just don't see this as Muse's strength.
|
| |
Adams has been the most informative post on here. I'm stoked!
Also, why all the BH&R hating? I loved that album!
|
| |
I don't think it's hate for BH&R. More that most feel it is inferior to OoS & Absolution. Most still rate it a 3.5 or 4.
|
| |
I really hope this isn't boring. I didn't particulary enjoy Origins of Symmetry when I listened to it...
|
| |
Finally went and listened to Absolution.
Boring. Very very boring.
|
| |
I hope you are being sarcastic.
|
| |

Jump out of a window
|
| |
Muse are better than Radiohead...just sayin.
|
| |
That's like saying pineapples are better than go-carts. You can't fuckin compare the two.
Now, I'm fucking psyched for this album like all of you should be.
|
| |
Can't wait. Expectarions are high
|
| |
The government brainwashing theme seems to be in there at the very least - MK Ultra was a 'mind control' program set up by the CIA in the 70s involving LSD and the like.
|
| |
Alex, I'm concerned that you know that mate. I might steer clear of you if you don't mind. ;-)
|
| |
Here is some new info:
1) United States of Eurasia has, at the end, vocals like that from Bohemian Rhapsody, so multi-layered most likely.
2) Some songs, including Unatural Selection, are based around Matt's riffs.
3) Undisclosed desires is made from electronic drum beats, slap bass and just Matt on vocals.
4) Exogenesis is the biggest thing Matt has done, and includes classical piano and an orchestra all the way through, and is over 15 mins.
|
| |

=P I came across it while researching Huxley's Brave New World. Dude was a crazy drug user.
|
| |
As all the great novelists are^ I just finished Brave New World, and ya Muse is definitely referencing some dystopian themes, United States Of Eurasia looks interesting.
