his passing is pretty significant. but i'm sure you'd rather hear about other cool music that you prefer because it's cool like you.

I'm not talking about music news, I'm talking about how every time anyone famous dies there is literally no real news until a month later because every single moment of their post-life must be followed even though 90% of the people involved in the actual coverage of the news and all those people on facebook claiming RIP MAN!! won't give a fuck a week later

Ha, I liked the brief audio clip of Great Gate of Kiev in there, nice.
I, for one apparently, liked the video.

Wow it seems people covering a music icon's death is really affecting you. Are you okay? Why not try...you know not uh clicking on links such as "Video: Michael Jackson Last Rehearsal" or does just seeing his name anger you? I think a video of one of Michael Jackson's last performances is news worthy.
And yeah 90% of the people involved in the coverage won't care a week later...guess why? Cause even if their not fans of close friends of Michael Jackson it's their fucking job that's why their the media...they don't go "oh I don't have personal feelings with this dead guy....let's not put him in the news."
|

they don't go "oh I don't have personal feelings with this dead guy....let's not put him in the news."
uh yes they do.
explain the fact that when a white girl with blonde hair goes missing or dies, it gets front page, yet when an black or spanish girl goes missing, no one gives a shit?

Yet that's so far from being true.

so wikipedia might not be the best source but this is the best I can come up with atm.

too tired to argue now so this is my counterstatement until tomorrow.

Okay, good example(s). However, the relevancy of this to Michael Jackson is completely lost on me (taking into account that he is technically black and far from attractive). They're covering him because he's famous, sure. Consumers are more likely to buy death stories of somebody who they're familiar with; we have less concern for dead nobodies.
|
| |
actually, now that I read El_Goodo's comment, I kind of realize he has a point. However, I think he glorifies the media too much.
They are most certainly leeches that only focus on what will get them more attention, and in return more money. It's not just their "jobs".

Well, then you get into cultural corruption and there's nothing you can really do to fix leechy behavior (except whine and criticize).
Either way, he's dead and he's getting coverage. Not surprised.

myhigherpie, you're coming off like nothing more than a petty, first-year know-it-all. congratulations, you probably took an intro to sociology course. but breaking news: michael jackson was a pretty big deal, and as such, so is his death.
|
| |
when did I say Michael Jackson was not a big deal?
And you're right, this argument was pretty lackluster, but that is because I was trying to articulate a point that really didn't have much to do with the actual news article at all and was really just there to satisfy my desire to put it out there.
So yes, it was juvenile, and I completely admit it.

all this is is a company respecting the dead singer by releasing something fans would be happy about. of course the media will 'forget' about him, they will have found another juicy story to milk like planes falling out of skies and the like
|
| |
how about you all just put your differences and opinions to one side, watch the video and respect one of the greatest legends to have lived in the music industry? yea? :-) save it for another thread.

OR they can continue arguing for entertainment
|

it really sickens me when people try to capitalize on someones death

2 soon

"OR they can continue arguing for entertainment"
It really isn't very entertaining...

Well, I can understand why AEG would do this. It's not really capitalizing, it's giving people what they want and at the same time trying to re-coup the astronomical losses they're failing. That video was harmless and frankly I'm glad I saw it.

My thoughts exactly, seeing him practically on top form as opposed to all the other previous pictures/videos of him for the last few years is the best way to remember him and I think its actually quite respectful.
|
| |
Well the video shows he was on his way to a major comeback and he still is given with him gone.
|

Man I would have loved Jennifer Batten to be in the last video with Micheal. She was one of the most rocking memories of Micheal Jackson videos throughout the years. The new girl is great to look out and a great shredder but man ya can't beat this one...

It definitely looks like he wasn't at his most energetic, but surprisingly he still had "it".
This news article makes me miss MJ more than I missed him the day he died.
