Sublime hints at reunion...

2009-02-26 by CrazyFool84 | 35 Comments
The remaining bandmates, claiming back-up from 'very, very special' guests, will play the February 28 show in Nevada, "Punknews.org" reports. Along with these developments, several rumours have been swirling around the internet community claiming that bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh have been working with a new vocalist on material....

The show, for what its worth, is said to be being billed as S*blime...apparently Nowell had something to do with the "U".

And yet another 90's band decides to gamble with their legacy...this trend seemed like a dream come true at first, but after Blind Melon's latest, this is getting a little embarassing.

If these guys are going to play music again together, cool but leave Sublime out of it please.

I don't know about this...Sublime is a really great band, and I don't want to think otherwise because they screw it up with some new guy. I can see it happening.

I really really want this to be good if it happens. But for some reason I really think it won't be.

I was going to make fun of you for not putting the band name in the title... sublime hints at reunion? What band is sublimely hinting at reunion?!

Turns out, I'm just musically ignorant. This Message Edited On 02.26.09

haha I've run into that a few times when naming this band Waior, so its all good. This is stupid, Walrus...as stated above, they already did this, first with Long Beach Dub All Stars and than Eric and a few from LBDAS turning into Long Beach Shotbus. So really, I'd love to hear them both playing music again (Wilson's lines helped get me into playing bass) but not under the Sublime moniker. The same goes for Blind Melon or Alice in Chains...love that classic line-up to death, but they should just try a new idea. I know its powerfully lame for a singer to die from his own design and have the band pay for it, but I'm sure fans will still follow the music regardless of what banner its played under.

Prolly going to be a good show to just go and sip and smoke and chillax at, I'm sure Eric and Bud don't think its anything more complex than that. This Message Edited On 02.26.09

And I thought Alice In Chains doin this was a bit sketchy. And crazyfool84, is that an implied diss towards fnm with your first post?

All in all I say dont go under the moniker of sublime or anything remotely near it. Didnt Brad write all the tunes anyways?

Brad wrote music with them, so they knew Brad, not a single person in this thread knew him personally I'm willing to bet many of my valuable possessions on that. Perhaps they wouldn't even be doing this if they thought it were a threat to the memory of Bradley. And from a fan's point of view, how is it? Their just playing his music years after his death, the ultimate tribute to a dead musician.

Because they haven't been famously active since Sublime ended doesn't mean they were dead. By your 'logic', 99 percent of the world's population is dead.

by your "logic" no one can have a simple misunderstanding about a band.

Its not a simple misunderstanding, its assuming that two people are dead because they don't fuck around in the mainstream anymore. Simple misunderstanding =/= hilarious ignorance.

This has been done before by Bud and Eric in multiple bands, and every time it has been an utter disaster.

Basically, its Long Beach Dub All Stars under a different name. It isn't going to be good, or original for that matter. This Message Edited On 02.27.09

are you dense? bf never said anything but
Hm I thought they were all dead
from that you extrapolate that he thinks they are dead because theyre not popular. so your simple misunderstanding and leaps of logic = hilarious ignorance.

There was no news about them being dead, and if there were any casual fan of music would know about it because they were in quite a relevant band. When people say something along the lines of 'Hm, I thought they were all dead' in reference to a celebrity or somebody who was at one point in their lives quite popular and whose popularity has significantly dropped, usually this person is commenting on the latter. In this case the joke is cruel and unfunny, not only because that sort of humor is older than Mesopotamia but because there actually was an unfortunate death in the band.

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. A MILLION TIMES NO. Jesus Christ, why?

(Qoute tags ain't workin' for me?) "potheads need to know their heroes are still alive"

Only problem is that Bradley was the hero. And he's dead. When he died, Sublime died with him. And now this is seriously starting to piss me off. This Message Edited On 02.28.09
