50 Cent's fourth major label album, Before I Self Destruct (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) will be released on December 9, 2008. It will feature songs produced by Dr. Dre and Eminem, with Eminem also guesting on the album. The first single, "Get Up", can be heard at the following links:

The album will also act as soundtrack to the feature-length movie accompanying the album on DVD. As well as starring in the movie, 50 Cent both wrote and directed it.

From Interscope Records:
Quote:
The film, Before I Self Destruct, is a coming of age story about an inner city youth raised by a hardworking single mother. When his dream of becoming a basketball player fails to materialize, he finds himself employed in a supermarket. After his mother is tragically gunned down, Clarence (played by Jackson), is consumed by revenge and takes up a life of crime in order to support his younger brother.

“My film captures the harsh realities that reflect so many communities today. There will be some who will greatly identify with the characters and the situations presented and then there will be others who may be shocked at the struggles that go on in the inner city,” states 50 Cent. “I made the film for both groups.”

Ha! This will never top 8 Mile, but oh well, a concept about a grocery shopper-turned-gangster seems... interesting...

What the hell? Was his first failure of a movie not good enough? 50 is way past his prime, I don't listen to his music but there was a time when he was everywhere. That time is gone.

I'm a little scared especially since he "wrote" the movie. And directed it. I mean there's no way it can be good is there?

Reminds me a bit of American Gangster, except I have no doubt album or movie won't be as good.

Fuck him, he should go ahead and hang himself. His ''music'' is pure crap, needless to mention his stupid stereotypical lyrics. That kind of ''music'' should be banned from the surface of the planet. Fuck you 50 cents, that's even more than what your music is worth. This Message Edited On 10.14.08

Everyone who makes about 50 cents regarding the worth of 50 Cent's music should be hurt. LAME.
