Obama thinks you can't rap

2008-07-09 by Iai EMERITUS | 49 Comments
"You are probably not that good a rapper. Maybe you are the next Lil Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school."

That's the incredible message that was delivered today by Barack Obama, during a speech in Powder Springs, Georgia, that probably wasn't designed to piss off an entire nation of young black people, but may well do anyway.

The larger point Obama was making was that young people need to prioritize a high school education over a future in sports, entertainment, or music. The fact that he hasn't noticed that Lil Wayne is 'not that good a rapper' himself will no doubt lead to further tedious discussions about his 'blackness'.

In other Wayne news, he's launched a line of champagnes called Halo. Halo will come in four flavours - Brut, Rose, Pinnacle, and Brut Vintage. Vibe.com has clarified that "Halo Brut offers a golden blush with a lemon cream and roasted hazelnut flavor with a citrus-y finish, while Halo Brut Vintage presents a sparkling amalgamation of almonds and lemon blossoms with a creamy consistency. The third champagne, Halo Rose, is blended with the delightful aromas of crushed raspberries, mint, and pomegranate that will remind wine aficionados of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Halo Pinnacle is a Chardonnay laden with the texture of pure fruit, and the taste of lime-tree flowers and roasted hazelnuts is very noticeable."

Yeah forget your dreams children, become a slave to societal expectations and be stuck in a job you don't want a part of for your entire life. That's why everybody never regrets a thing shortly before they die!

I think that's why he's saying be good at education, so you end up finding a job that you like, rather than being stuck ina job you don't want because you didn't take school seriously and thought you'd be the next big thing when you're not.

You can take education seriously and still have dreams about making it in music or whatever. I got a 2.1 in psychology and I'm still writing songs and playing guitar and singing, blahblah. I just have more options now.

Ihveopinionsthatsuck, do you really believe that its irrational to say that dropping out of school or failing your ass off in hopes you become the one out of a million that becomes a successful musician is a good idea?

He's not saying don't try. Just know your priorities.

No. He is saying to do what you wanna do, but be practical about it, because not everybody will become a success. Plus, a good education is one of the most important things to have. Do you think Soulja Boy is going anywhere by being a drop-out once his fifteen minutes of fame are gone?

Guise! Obama is trying to make people forget their dreams so he can brainwash them into Nazis!

Jesus, what he's saying is that don't drop out of high school to become a rapper because he knows that in ten weeks you'll just be like: "Don't get it in my eye, please."

Obama also thinks one shouldn't have the liberty to talk privately on the phone, as a warrant is no longer necessary to wiretap. Oh, and that the church should sleep with the state. I shouldn't rant .... Obama > Mccain btw, if votes are still counted.

Obama is overrated.

If somebody has a GOOD reason to like Obama, more power to them. I'm sure plenty of people do.

But 75% of people I've seen who like Obama just like him because they think he's cool. And the day we elect a president because he's "cool" is the day I hop the fence into Mexico.

Lil' Wayne sucks balls, I can barely stand his voice and his rhymes are plain awful. Moreover, he cannot even hold a guitar properly, so why pretend he can? - check out his 'Lollipop' video - What a crook.

Kids should stay in school if their conception of good rap is founded in "lyrics" like: "Watch me do [x200], Superman dat hoe [x1000]"

p.s. ilikemusicthatsucks is not 15 years old, he is just mentally challenged.

+1 for stay in school.

Your statistical prowess astounds me.
So if Obama wins you're out? You'll take the Mexican government over the American? You're right, Obama's way to "cool." Felipe Calderon is much better*.
How the hell does Obama manage to catch shit for saying "stay in school?" Seriously.
*anyone missing the sarcasm should check out Calderon's record of having political activists kidnapped. This Message Edited On 07.15.08
