This was more about specifics of the album, but still, I've lost a ton of respect for Nas here. It's not about the title. It's about sacrificing what you believe in to sell records. saying "People will really know what to call it" and wanting "this album to get to as many fans as possible" is such a cop-out. If you wanted everyone to hear the record, you'd do something similar to what Radiohead did. Most people order CDs online anyway. But something tells me Nas would be too greedy to offer the album for anything short of regular price, which is just a shame.
In my opinion, Nas has sold out again. Just like he did a decade ago. I'll be listening to the album, but I'm definitely not going to encourage his need for more money by purchasing the album. He did this because of rich white conservatives, and it's just sad to see him succumb to censorship just for money again. I might be alone in thinking that, but that honestly how I feel about this. Meh, at least MF DOOM and Dre still have cds coming out...

It's not going to be good anyway.

I agree with Big Baby Jesus
|

Oh no, I was expecting an album with a song called The Fear Of A Black Man's Dick to be way good
|
| |
fear of a black mans dick is the dumbest title for a song ive ever heard
|
| |
This album will be good. I heard a track, I'm assuming it was "Nigga," and it was really good.
|
| |
Yeah it's a bit of a pussy move but the majority of it came from his record label thinking he's being reckless. He's not doing anything for rich, white conservatives. First poster needs a CAT scan.

wow... a publicity stunt based around the fact that he's - shock, horror - black.
seriously, i don't know of any other races (in any genre) that use their skin colour to court controversy like this guy (among a great many other rappers). i'm hoping Obama wins the election, because with a black president, black rappers are gonna look pretty stupid trying to play the "plight of the black man" card, especially if they're lazy enough to base at least half an album around the same lyrical premise, as it seems he's doing here.
|
| |
It takes at least two parties to create a controversy. Other races write about their respective plights, but it just doesn't become "controversy" for the most part. That said, Im disappointed that Nas caved, even though I had no intentions of listening to the album in the first place.

I still love Nas.

Well a niggas gotta do what a niggas gotta do

"uhh... nigger?" WRONG it was nagger. i heart south park...Nas has his ups and downs...a greatest hits is all i would buy of his, mind you im not from the hood so maybe i dont appreciate his muzak
|

nigga please Nas...
|

This is probably one of the lamest decisions a musician has ever made. Nas from the get go was naming his next album Nigger just for people could recognize him and spread controversy. Who gives a fuck if pussy Wal-Mart doesn't sale his album, that fucked up store doesn't even sale uncut versions of albums any way. I'm really dissapointed by Nas' decision but still hope that the album is good.

i think we can get over that word, just like asians like me have gotten over the word chink. well, sort of.
