Mark E Smith murders squirrels 2008-04-09 by Iai EMERITUS | 12 Comments | As if it wasn't enough just being ugly as sin, Mark E Smith is also in hot water with the RSPCA (that's the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) after he boasted of killing rare squirrels.
Well, actually, here is what he said to a journalist at Uncut magazine.
"I would happily set about an endangered red squirrel with a set of professional hedge-clippers. Squirrels mean nothing to me. I killed a couple last weekend actually. They were eating my garden fence.....My sisters are animal lovers and they'd been leaving food out for these squirrels. They've got rats in the bloody house now. Serves 'em right."
He also admitted he'd quite enjoy running over some seagulls. What a badass.
This has got the RSPCA riled, and they're apparently now considering a prosecution. The punishment for killing two red squirrels ranges from free publicity to six months in prison. "To suggest in a magazine read by youngsters that it is a good idea to harm wildlife is both extremely stupid and highly irresponsible", claim the tree-huggers.
