Daughtry Curbs Fuel Emissions

2006-06-05 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 13 Comments
Ex-American Idol contestant revealed on Saturday that he's turned down an offer to front modern rock band Fuel.

The band have been without a singer since the departure of Brett Scallions in February of this year (full story), and had hoped that with Daughtry's early departure from the show, they themselves could add him to their line-up.

Daughtry, who was offered the job on live TV by guitarst Carl Bell within hours of leaving the show, is a fan of the band and sang 'Hemorrhage (In My Hands)' at one of the event's semi-finals, yet he chose not to take up their offer on this occasion, instead choosing to carve his own path.

Daughtry will decide upon his new direction after completing this summer's American Idol concert tour.

Their last album blew. I was wondering what happened to them...
Congrats on the title too. Made me giggle.

What did happen to them I never heard anything? I loved Falls On Me. That's the only song I've ever heard from them though.

He had shit taste in music. But he had a decent voice, and was quite marketable.

I didnt know that Brett left the band. Their last album wasn't too bad, just didn't live up to their other albums. I mean Sunburn was a great album.

All the American Idol contestants were nowhere near as good as the one's on 'The X Factor' in the UK.

He should have taken it. It's not like he'll land a real contract w/o a band

You know what? Chris was absolutely amazing and he definitely should have won American Idol.

He had to turn down fuel because he is currently on contract with American Idol. And I'm pretty sure he'll get picked up by some big record label, so he's not going to dissapear anytime soon.

I dont care if you dont like Chris that much, he has some of the most talent out there!
Out of all the finalists I couldnt understand how that Bucky hicksville kid got that far.

This is so old, but it's hilarious now to look back at the comments saying he'd go nowhere. He's on the verge of being fuckin' huge. Just thought I'd muse on that for a second.
