Albumbase Gone For Good?

2007-11-08 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 20 Comments
Last month UK authorities caught up with OiNK and TV-Links.co.uk. Now it appears US-based album download database Albumbase has followed suit. The site went offline this morning, briefly reappeared, before going down again with the standard error message: This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. Sounds positively chilling, dunnit?

There's an article about this, but I can't find the link...

I didn't notice that TV Links was shut down : There goes hours of ATHF on a late boring night.

Bad news bears for me if they went down. I used this site more than I thought.

What an endless, senseless cycle. The "authorities" have made day jobs out of this issue.

How come I only hear about awesome sites like this directly after they are shut down?

This really wasn't an awesome site per se, it was just an alternative if you didnt have something better at your disposal.

I think we all knew it would happen sooner or later. It was too good of a site to stay around a long time. But then again, AB is only the second best way to get music online, behind... Well, you all know.....

I was referring to oink and tvlinks, which I never really got to be a part of.This Message Edited On 11.08.07

Damn this really really really sucks.

I seriously think sooner or later the RIAA are gonna have some trouble on their hands. Downloading free music online is the one thing it seems everyone can sympathize with. People are never going to get too mad at a policeman for arresting a rapist (because no one likes a rapist), but everyone one loves downloading music. Its the crime everyone commits.

Lets all grab our guns...
