Motorhead's Phil Campbell Dies

2026-03-17 by Alkemest CONTRIBUTOR | 17 Comments
Phil Campbell, the longtime guitarist for the legendary band Motorhead, passed away on March 13, 2026. He was 64. Campbell joined Motorhead in 1984 and stuck with the outfit until the band called it quits following Lemmy's death in 2015.

From the Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DV3LIf4jDoQ/

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell, who passed away peacefully last night following a long and courageous battle in intensive care after a complex major operation.

Phil was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a proud and loving grandfather, known affectionately as “Bampi.” He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be missed immensely. His legacy, music and the memories he created with so many will live on forever.

We kindly ask that our family’s privacy is respected during this incredibly difficult time."

RIP Phil.

Jealous you gotta see them, their live shows looked so rad. I didn't actually listen to a full Motorhead album until their last one came out and then Lemmy kicked it like three months later.

My dad brought me to a show when I was in high school and I've been a fan ever since. One of the best sets I've ever seen. You really got a palpable sense you were witnessing a legendary musical act. Just three dudes rocking the fuck out with no bullshit whatsoever.

64 is way too fucking young dude, RIP.

Might spin a Motorhead album for the first time today, seems like a good time to give them a shot.

Man that sounds like a killer show Row. I'm starting some of their live albums now and can already tell it would have been amazing.

And give them a spin Plat! Can't really go wrong with any of their albums but Overkill through Another Perfect Day are legendary.

60 onwards is a pretty passable age to die imo.
Again, RIP hard.

I feel that way about 70+. Like if I hit 70 it'll be a good run, but the 60s is too soon imo
