black midi's Matt has died 2026-01-12 by I AM NOT ZIG | 23 Comments | Matthew Kwasniewski-Kelvin, founding black midi member, has passed away. Rough Trade Records shared the sad news through an Instagram post, saying: "It is with deep sadness that we as a family regret to inform you that Matthew Kwasniewski-Kelvin has died after a long battle with his mental health." He was 26 years old.
In early 2021, Matt went on hiatus from the band for mental health reasons. Schlagenheim remains the only studio record that he was part of, essentially as a guitar player, but he also did vocals duties on "Years Ago".
