Okay this about makes it official; this record will blow goats. Not because of the hype, but because it just plain sucks.

|

generic song. not absolutely terrible, but definitely not good.

@BallsToTheWall: Critical Acclaim?
I kind of like this song, at least a lot more than Almost Easy. Still don't know if I'll bother getting the album though. This Message Edited On 10.17.07

Yes. Critical Acclaim was pretty solid. The Rev's singing part was cool as hell.
|
| |
Pretty sad that this is the best new song so far.
Reviewing this.
|
| |
Better than Almost Easy..
|
| |
What. The. Fuck.
That song sounded just like sub-par radio rock.
|
| |
Sucks

Jesus Christ. Avenged were my favorite band until now. This song, while catchy at times, is just not the Avenged Sevenfold of old. I loved Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. I love Waking the Fallen. I love City of Evil. These three songs, while okay, I guess, are really just regular radio rock. And I heard 30 second clips of all the songs of their self titled, and it doesn't sound like it gets any better. On track #8, which at first sounded like it had the most promise, they use some weird vocal effect (which I forgot the name of) and it just does not work at all. Looks like Between the Buried and Me will be taking Avenged's top spot for me. But I will wait for the whole cd to either leak or come out to make that decision. Very disappointed so far.

Critical Acclaim was good.
This.....as much as i love A7X.....was pretty bland....
|
| |
Critical Acclaim rules.
Almost Easy sucks.
This is somewhere in between.
|
| |
Absolutely terrible.
|
| |
i stopped listening to their stuff the second i heard bat country.
well i still gave those last 3 songs a try, but they're so.... bland, its awful.
|
| |
Gee, I'm probably the only one who like Almost Easy!
|
| |
This sounds about as crappy as everything else theyve done
|
| |
At least I know not to pick this up.
|
| |
Wow how this band sucks ass.
|
| |
Im really afraid to listen to this
|
| |
I don't even need to say how bad this band is. The song does all the talking................
|
| |
you're right mv, a good laugh is just a click away. I give up. So far this is a fresh 1/5 for me.
Some of Shadows' comments in the article in the new revolver are also worth a hearty laugh.
|
| |
I have to go to so much fucking trouble about this. My friends are always criticizing me for liking A7x and I always have to differentiate between the real them and this sellout garbage
|
| |
true
|
| |
I'll still buy this regardless if I hate it.
|
| |
I don't see what everyone's whining about.
i mean it's not great, but it's not bad.
i'm glad they're expanding their sound, they really don't seem liek the kind of band that would just write "radio rock" (whatever the hell that means) to me. The first two songs were better but i'm sure that the album will at least match City of Evil, which i'd be pretty happy with.
|
| |
I have to agree with hegster, to an extent.
I would hardly call this expanding their sound though. Every song released so far would've fit in perfectly on City Of Evil... which is a shame considering they've been saying this album would edge more toward the Waking The Fallen crowd.
However, it's a catchy song and I like it. All the people who think this song is the worst thing to happen to music just have a stick up their ass because it's Avenged Sevenfold.
Oh, and as much as I like A7X, Almost Easy sucks.
|
| |
This song really wasn't THAT bad. If Matt Shadows didnt suck so much it might actually be really good. It's a grower though, much like Critical Acclaim was.
|
| |
i liked their older stuff but now they're just like every other modern rock outfit out there. :/ though the rev's drumming is at times pretty good.
|
| |
Every song released so far would've fit in perfectly on City Of Evil... No they wouldn't.
which is a shame considering they've been saying this album would edge more toward the Waking The Fallen crowd. They said that it wouldn't be like City of Evil or Waking the Fallen. They didn't lie.
|
| |
No they wouldn't.
Good point... :-/ I'm not hearing anything radically different.
They said that it wouldn't be like City of Evil or Waking the Fallen. They didn't lie.
I just know what I remember reading, and I swear Shadows said in an interview (or maybe even a post on their Q&A forums) that the new album would be a new and different sound, but a treat for the Waking The Fallen fans who didn't care for the change of style in City Of Evil. Could be wrong, it's been a while.
|
| |
Does anybody have a link to the leak of the whole album?
|
| |
okay as much as i tollerated Gunslinger, I just heard Scream and i have to say it's pretty bad. it does sound average. it does sound just like shitty 80s metal. there's no emotion in it, there's nothing from WtF or CoE anywhere in there. and worst of all, the shining light that shadowns might be screaming more has been effectively extinguinished.
Critical Acclaim: Great
Almost Easy: Good
Gunslinger: Okay
Scream: Less than okay from this band
I really expected more from these guys. I hope the rest of the album's better.
|
| |
*sigh*
im really, really, REALLY not liking where A7X is going...
STST=Not great, but a pretty amazing first album for a band of 19 year olds..
WTF= THE MOST AMAZING ALBUM IN HISTORY. PERIOD.
COE=Not the same style theyve done, but it sounds great, and they obviously have endless talent. Worried about some changes, but its still a pretty good sound for them
A7X=Worst album imaginable from them. Almost every single song is mainstream, or cliche, or annoying, or just plain terrible. God it kills me to write this, I fucking love Avenged....
