such an underrated band, way ahead of their time early on, hopefully people support their new work and it gets attention. I know people love the band, but they always seemed underrated to me compared to their contemporaries

No fucking way, I’ve just been getting into them recently and have been obsessed.
|

@Eons
Yeah, Deathspell Omega or Blut Aus Nord for example, are mentioned more frequently, and that's a shame.
Seeing (a new album) is believing, but it's awesome news nevertheless.

AYOOOOOOO?!?!?!?!
|
| |
Oh my!
|
| |
Awesome but lol at that quote. He must be kidding.
|

Nothing wrong with Ved Buens Ende looking after their legacy, I guess, even if takes them years to release a new album.
Psychotic Waltz for example, took their time for their successful comeback, which is the desired end result, otherwise why bother to do it at all.
|
| |
well don't forget that Deathspell and Blut Aus Nord were relatively obscure for some time as well before becoming more known later on. A lot of their best work came out when only some people knew of the band.
|
| |
Fair enough, but accounting for their Sputnik threads alone, I remember few people, if none, crediting Ved Buens Ende as starting points for both outfits, that's why I wrote about "shame".

F-ck yes.

"lol at that quote. He must be kidding."
what's funny about it?
|
| |
It just seems like a very roundabout way to describe something very obvious. I mean, I definitely knew it was easier to make a cover than actual new songs.
And you know those bm dudes are always cracking jokes.

It’s true that Nordic black metal folks are notorious for their cynical sense of humour, but in this case, I don’t think Vikotnik is being sarcastic, rather he is treading carefully on the band’s legacy.
|

There is no fucking way
Somewhere in the world tec just jumped for joy. So stoked for this!

What Voivod said. Sounded like Vikotnik was just acknowledging how much trickier it is to continue a past project in good faith than a lot of fans tend to take for granted. Like yeah, you can call it the same thing, and put the same logo on the cover, but that doesn’t mean it’ll really have the same feel. It’s a good point, really. Seems especially resonant now, given how many reunions there have been lately
|
| |
Yeah, didn't seem like a funny or pretentious statement at all. Totally see where he's coming from, especially with a comeback album of this caliber
|
| |
Alright I hear you. Either way I'm very much looking forward to it.
|

Hope it's litty

Holy shit

YEAH, BAYBEE!
Well said, cylinder and Voivod. He seems more concerned with the quality of the project, which is heartening.
