Axl Rose didnt fail to impress

2006-05-15 by Damrod EMERITUS | 13 Comments
Last time Axl Rose and Guns n Roses were on stage was back in 2002. BAck then, fans were disappointed in the poor performance, lack of energy and had to cope with a canceld tour. After the first two gigs in New York, fans can expect the best to come though.
Although he had some vocal problems on friday, the following saturday Rose presented another well played gig. The line up is the same as 2002, except for Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal, who replaces Buckethead on guitar.
Axl and company presented a good mix of new songs from the upcoming album "Chinese Democracy" and GnR-classics from their first album "Appetite for Destruction". The show also marked the official 'making peace' with Sebastian Bach for Rose. Axl, who had not talked to the Skid Row front man in over thirteen years, explained "I was too busy saving my life, as he was destroying it". Bach even joined the band for a performance on stage.
Regarding the long wait for new material Rose stated to the fans "You can hold your breath longer than David Blaine ever could!" Axl Rose seemed much more open towards the audience than he was before. He was always looking for interaction with the audience, and also shook the hands of various fans. He almost seemed like having too much energy to spread for the fans. In a positive way, that is.
Fans around the globe waiting for the 'new' Guns n Roses to visit their country can hope now to be witness of a great performance

I went to this concert and it was F'in awesome. I'm going again tonight. Axl's voice sounds more back to his late 80's early 90's era, than it did in the shitty 2002 concerts

is it possible that axl has finally removed his head from his cavernous arse? let's hope so, and let's hope the album lives up to the hype.

If this is a sudden change from Axl, could this mean that sometime in the future....... that....... the old GNR could reunite?

Well, I ws looking forward to see how bad this album is, now I have hopes. :thumb:

There is no chance of the old GNR re-uniting, people should really let that go. I think it's cool that we get the chance to see Slash and co. doing their thing, and Axl doing his, give me 2 albums to look forward to.

I listened to that interview on the Eddie Trunk show, Axl sounded pretty cool to be honest. Despite one bitter comment to how Slash 'tried to take control of the band', he seemed on top of things. He also said the new album will come out in the fall, so here's hoping.

Axl Rose + Tracii Guns = Guns N Roses.
- Tracii Guns = Not Guns N Roses, but no one cares about technicalities.

Anyway, I went to last night's show and it kicked ass. Robin Finck is amazing.

I can forsee all the people who called Axl an idiot, or said he would never release a new album or show up for a show, jumping onto the GNR bandwagon.

^Yeah. And Tommy played bass, of course. With him taken up with the Gunner's, there goes my hope for a Replacements reunion....
