Porcupine Tree / Rats Return

2022-06-18 by ShadowOfTheCitadel | 18 Comments
Porcupine Tree have released the fourth single from their upcoming album, 'Closure/Continuation' entitled, "Rats Return". With the album release date edging closer to the final destination of June 24th, 2022, you can stream the new song below.

When prompted for elaboration on the track's meaning, Steven Wilson commented, "The rats are politicians who express having an interest in the public but, when it comes down to it, only want to save themselves. Having lived through Brexit, Trump and Boris Johnson, it wasn’t hard to get depressed about what’s going on in the world."

Probably my least favourite off of the new songs. Feels a lil reserved, then again i could see this work better in the overall context of the album.

Eh not bad but not that great either. Hopefully the other songs will have more lighter sections, cause the band are better at the atmospheric stuff than the drop d metal riffing imo

Such a great groove and they do nothing with it, very repetitive.

Gavin is great as usual but this is the longest 5 minute track I've heard in ages, so rinse and repeat.
