This lit tune slaps. Mess's second verse bops hard.
| |
Damn this band is consistent. This will be the 10th album in fifteen years
| |
every DGD song sounds the same but a surprising percentage are good anyway, and this is one of those
| |
I really like this song. I'm fine w/this band not branching out sonically, as long as they do what they do well... which they did here. Hooks are clean, Mess sounds amazing (that fast verse section fucking rules) and this is probably their most noodley track since DBM II.
| |
Hella catchy
| |
great song, sounds like it would fit just fine on Mothership, which is good.
| |
Kick out Tillian and bring back Johnny for DBM III
| |
Catchy lil tune.
Really love this band. I don't care that Afterburner was a dud, stoked for the new album.
| |
i'd love a DBM III, too bad JC is a literal piece of shit and impossible to work with.
bring back Kurt Travis for Happiness II
| |
Song is cool but I really wish I didn't still hate Tillian's voice
| |
same bruh
| |
good song!
| |
Fine song imo. pretty forgettable compared to anything off Mothership, and Tillians voice sounds like its getting less impactful with each release. At least the instrumental work and Jon Mess are still awesome
| |
I liked the other guy’s vocals more than Tllian’s
| |
Pretty average DGD track, which is a-okay when your average is this solid. Kinda wish they'd done a little more with Rob-bot, but I'll take what I can get. Stoked for the sequel.
| |
Song actually rules. Maybe they need a full-time third vocalist to temper tillian's annoyance factor
| |
I agree with the statement that Tilian's voice is getting less impactful with every release. It's taken a *LOT* for the stuff with Tilian to grow on me but he sounded great on a lot of songs between Acceptance Speech 2.0 and Mothership, but I think starting with Mothership he's put out more and more where it sounds like he's just going through the motions and that's how we ended up with Afterburner. It's jarring going back and listening to the albums with Jonny and Kurt because they have so much more oomf in their voices.
| |
yeah Tillian is a bargain bin post-hardcore singer. plus his lyrics are fucking cringe
| |
fun song, had it on repeat an... embarrassing amount of times yesterday lol
| |
fast Mess verse rules
| |
This is great, it’s nice to hear Rob Damiani on a DGD track he fits right in
| |
Mess is still firing on all cylinders. Band rarely misses
| |
Even for a formulaic DGD song, shit's groovin. How does Mess only get better and better?
| |
Because he's not a human but a cat in disguise
| |
i'd prefer new secret band tbh
| |
honestly, i haven't given a fuck since Kurt Travis left bc Happiness owns anything they ever released with Tilian.
its just erratic shit without any point and they keep PUMPING out new material constantly, its always the same fucking garbo lmao
| |
yeah first 2:30 is unlistenable for me. their guitar work isn't even interesting anymore its just weird fucking notes and shrieking mess and whispy ass Tilian thinking he's smooth
fuck new DGD, DTBM I + deathstar album are fire too.
| |
idk i think the guitar work is pretty easy to follow on this track. even when compared to DBM - Happiness material
| |
The guitar work on song is some of their best in years
| |
I agree spirit, from the first few seconds it was giving me old school dgd flash backs. The guitar work intertwines lovely on this.
| |
Then tillian came in...ew
Edit: nevermind that was a dumb comment
| |
i love tilian on old tides of man songs but like why does he sing like this and why is he produced like that fucking dumb
like none of the vocalists (past and present) best albums are with dgd which is hilarious to me
| |
This is so fucking boring and predictable
| |
Phenomenal. Tillian is amazing.
| |
Fun as usual. As a long time DGD listener, it's a bit of the same. Mothership Tilian is my favourite - his voice seemed to soar over the chaos. It also had the perfect amount of roughness in the production. I feel there's too much layering going on, and everything is too squeaky. Even Rob sounds in the background due the multiple layers.
Jon Mess sounds so goddamn good though. I don't think they can really do bad, but it's not as rememberable as i'd hoped.
| |
Track has grown a lot on me.
| |
Track slaps hard. Tillian hate makes me sad.
| |
tillian was great, mess' part was better though, very excited for some new DGD
| |
Tillian is also wearing on me. He seems like a good singer from a technical perspective, but I'm just getting tired of hearing his tenor wrapped up in the same reedy autotune blanket. Maybe you guys know what I'm talking about but his performances just all sound the same every time now.
| |

I think his voice sounds great and fits the band perfectly.
| |
Yeah the Tilian slander is wack. I guess you could dislike his Melodies but he is an amazing singer
| |
His voice is great. When it doesn't sound like 5 robot versions of him singing along.
| |
Yeahp he's an incredible singer but yeah production is shocking and melodies are increasingly meh. Greatly prefer secret band because of that
| |
Never had a problem with Tilian's vox, but they decided to bring Andrew Wells on as a fulltime member, so I'm reaaally hoping he features on more tracks vocally. Nothing Shameful off Afterburner is a top 5 DGD track.
| |
Edit:
Seriously impressed with this song. It's damn near perfect. Could go for a full length and this caliber
| |
Saw them play this song live last night and I have had it playing on a loop in my head ever since. Not much of a DGD fan but idk I think this maybe kinda just works as a pop song
