The Offspring announce new LP

2021-02-24 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 58 Comments
The Offspring announced their first album in almost 9 years. Let the Bad Times Roll is scheduled to be released on April 16 through Concord Records. This will be the first record to not feature founding member Greg Kriesel, as he departed the band in 2018. He filed a lawsuit against Dexter Holland and Noodles following an alleged decision by the two in November 2018 to ban Kriesel from the band's activities, including studio recordings and live performances. Since then, Todd Morse took care of the bass duties live and on the new LP. Also, there seems to be a new version of the 1997 single, 'Gone Away' in the track list.

First single, 'Let the Bad Times Roll' can be listened to below:

Tracklisting:

1. This Is Not Utopia (2:38)
2. Let The Bad Times Roll (3:18)
3. Behind Your Walls (3:21)
4. Army Of One (3:11)
5. Breaking These Bones (2:46)
6. Coming For You (3:48 )
7. We Never Have Sex Anymore (3:30)
8. In The Hall Of The Mountain King (1:00)
9. The Opioid Diaries (3:01)
10. Hassan Chop (2:20)
11. Gone Away (3:16)
12. Lullaby (1:12)

Oof, this song is fucking bad. Sucks to hear about Greg K, sounds to me like "creative differences" (a.k.a. money or drugs). And why re-record Gone Away other than to flog some more money out of one of their biggest songs? So much cringe, band should've called it a day after Americana

I want this album to be better, but those song titles and the two singles out so far don't give me much hope.

I really liked Days Go By, so I'm hoping I like this. I don't mind the single, but I don't know how often I'll listen to it.

Americana was one of the first albums I ever bought. i've not listened to it for a few years.

i'm scared to do it now, because i'm worried that it'll sound exactly like this.

I was pumped to hear some new material from these guys; but after hearing this shitpiece I am extremely worried.

Also, can we please stop with all these shitty anti-Trump songs already? The fucknob isn't even president anymore.

Supercoolguy64, good point. Still, the fact they included it and released it as the first single is kind of obnoxious.

I thought it was their best album in a lot of years tbh. Thing is, that album didn’t appear as though it was going to amount to anything and it turned out great. So I’ll reserve judgment on this until the full thing comes out.

Cool they’re back in action if nothing else. One of the best live bands I’ve ever seen

I hate to be petty, but I do kind of wish they'd stop at some point. Their first few albums were a shining staple of my youth. This feels like it's in the same realm as any mainstream pop-punk band that's past their prime.
What is this track supposed to invoke in me?
