Fade-out kinda killed the vibe for me, but not a bad song. Seems the new album will have a bit of variety though, pretty stoked for it.
| |
30s fadeouts are never a good idea.
| |
I was really hoping for a full length album considering how good House of Glass was. But after hearing the other 3 songs we're probably better off to just get a full length separate from this.
| |
All the singles released so far have been pretty damn good, this is likely gonna be their best album since Augment.
| |
ive already axed most of the fadeout from my copy god bless audacity
i understand them putting out the first ever jt only song as a single and im glad they did bc i think thisll be my least favorite on the album. still a solid song tho w plenty i like about it
| |
Good song but some weird choices on it, def my least favorite single
| |
That steak, IT BYRNES!!!!
| |
JT went absolutely off on this track, and I can't help but wonder why he hasn't been shown any range until now
| |
I think it was because Jessie was like NO RANGE FOR I AM THE CASH AND THEREFORE THE ONE
| |
Yeah JT killed this and I was quite pleased. So stoked for this album
| |
"I can't help but wonder why he hasn't been shown any range until now" [2]
| |
They should go full heavy like this more often. Gas/10
| |
Agreed with cloak. All the singles slay hard. This album is going on my AOTY list like it or not. Erra have risen to greatness.
| |
Oof that fade-out is horrible, and way too prolonged for a riff that uninteresting. JT is really solid on this though, and that bodes well for what might be coming for ERRA.
| |
meh. doesnt really feel like erra
| |
Fuckin stank face central boys. We need about 5 more of these on the new alb
| |
^Yes, yes we do
| |
Not sure about this one, but looking forward to the record
| |
Song was aite
| |
i think i would like erra more if they just never replaced ian and became half post rock/tech-y and Jesse still sang like normal
| |
super dig this, JT killed those vocals, seems like he's doing a similar technique as sam form architects with his singing, hopefully there's more of it on the album than just this!
| |
Surprised some of you guys thought this was the weakest single when its the heaviest track they've dropped thus far lol
| |
You make it sound like Sam Carter's vocals are good???
| |
Yeah this song is super good. The only artistic failure was the fade out
| |
Erra needs to stay this heavy. Their Divisionary type shit is such a snooze
| |
its only the weakest for me bc so far its the only song with some weird parts to it that i'm not totally on boad with, where for me the others all knocked it out of the fuckin park
| |
divisionary fucking slaps. this is like, just JT. idk. not for me
| |
"Erra needs to stay this heavy"
^This. More Hybrid Earth tracks plz
| |
yeah as surprisingly diverse as he is here a jt only song is a very hard sell for me and there are a few parts here where jesses vox totally coulda been and wouldve made me dig this a lot more
| |
idk why people are saying this is the heaviest track they've written when tracks like Vaalbara and Hybrid Earth exist. But to echo onion, a JT only track is a hard sell lol and I hate the yelly clean vocals he does on this track
| |
Well you can bet "Electric Twilight" and "Lunar Halo" will be Jesse central lol
| |
Damn Steak, why so wrong?
Edit: not that this is their heaviest track, although its heavy for the JT-era. I meant regarding JT only, yell/sing vocals. I dig em
| |
I'd say more JT less Jesse for sure. If JT could get more lows in there oh man
| |
yeah less Jesse more JT clean/yells [2]
| |
I mean if it was still Garrison then yea I'd be fine with tracks with little to no Jesse, but JT is no Garrison. I just don't like those yells he did on this track at all, especially since he already showed he can sing well enough
| |
Damn these bruhs living in the past. Embrace the JT lows
| |
What can I say, Garrison is my favorite harsh vocalist and 2009-2013 Erra is peak music for me lol. I do like that JT is finally showing range, and I do like every single so far, including this one
| |
hybrid earth shits all over this lets not kid ourselves
| |
well yea
impulse and augment in general do
but thats an unreachable bar. this is still mostly pretty good for what it is
| |
it's aight innit
| |
"hybrid earth shits all over this lets not kid ourselves"
Garrison era ERRA shits all over JT era ERRA
| |
I actually have to disagree, Jay. Not that it isn’t better, but doesn’t shit over it. Drift is some God tier Erra
| |
Drift has 2 memorable songs for me.. the first one, and skyline
Band could’ve stopped after that and only released breach and divisionary lol
| |
Damn you a sad panda
| |
Theres no point arguing with these people about Drift nash, they only care about "me hitty hardy, me bre4kdown", they are stubborn and dont appreciate the melodic moments that Erra brings, which that is what a large amount of Drift is
| |
Erra has always been melodic so shit argument next
| |
I like Augment a bit less thanks to toxic fan mentality, Drift did things to separate itself apart from Augment, inclusion of post rock was fantastic, I dont care about JT being worse than Garrison on that particular album, the instrumentation is literally everything that makes the album good, if the album was solely instrumental, I would probably still like it. Drift often gets labelled as derivative but Augment and Impulse are derivative in their own way too, Northlane Singularity hello? And numerous others, Elitist, Within the Ruins, can go on and on, so that argument is hardly even a factor.
| |
Erra and Northlane started this entire subgenre and did it in different styles so idk what you're trying to say, especially since Impulse came out two years before Singularity? Whatever, arguing with you is like arguing with a brick wall
| |
I'm the brick wall? lol, touche, I guess. Drift is a matured version of Erra, it's more thoughtful in many ways, it's softer than previous works, but a "softer" Erra still hits pretty hard, I've introduced many people to Erra with Drift, and I've never seen anyone complain about JT, I prefer him to the vocalist from Make Them Suffer, let's stir the pot a bit more, shall we? 🥴
| |
I'm glad Neon's overall av dropped below Drift's, Neon seemed like "fun" metalcore songs but not much else... Drift offers much more substance than Neon does, Neon felt like they were coasting in a lot of ways.
| |
I think Drift and Augment are both amazing in different ways and two of my favorite albums, but I actually find myself going back to Drift way more these days
| |
"I prefer him to the vocalist from Make Them Suffer" completely different styles but sure... even though I will take him over JT merely for his variety within the music
| |
"I think Drift and Augment are both amazing in different ways and two of my favorite albums, but I actually find myself going back to Drift way more these days"
Yes agree, both great albums, I just really dig the maturity that is seen in Drift
| |
I'm failing to see what exactly is so mature about Drift.
| |
And this is where I'm stumped, I simply cant comprehend how someone can think Drift is not a matured Erra. Drift is a lot more thoughtful, and more emotive, the lyrics are existential, resilient, and talk about things along the lines of loneliness, and perseverance. Impulse, for instance, has pretty good lyrics, but they are about fictional premises, nothing tangible, Drift is more human in this respect.
| |
Also something worth noting, I've seen many people say that Augment and Drift sound fairly identical in a lot of ways, and I have to agree. Obviously there are some key differences, but they both very much sound like Erra. I can simply listen from Impulse, to Augment, to Drift, without a hitch, it's a shame yall cant do that too.
| |
I wouldn’t call it mature as much as I’d call it a refinement. I find Drift to be such a perfect juxtaposition of their sounds and their most catchy, and some of their best (re: beautiful) guitar work. Augment is more heavy which I LOVE, but there is a lot of that within the genre.
| |
guys i was kidding i actually like drift lol
| |
