Getting some 2002-2007 DT vibes off this one. I'm actually impressed and that solo section was fucking great.

| |
That solo was gorgeous
|
| |
great song to start off the album! excited to hear the rest.
|
| |
Very solid song!! Stoked to hear the DT boys are back and sounding great. Chris's solo was awesome.
|
| |
Most consistent melodeath band out there. This sounds promising
|
| |
Way better than the single for the previous album imo.
The solo rules
|
| |
Hopefully this will be their best since Fiction. Sounds very promising!
|
| |
Sounds really great and the solo rules
|
| |
The solo is absolutely awesome, but I do hope that the album tries some more daring song structures/different time signatures because that's the big thing dragging down this track. Very happy to hear that the guitars are front and center on this track.

Sounds stellar. Hopes are high and 2020 is bursting with great new music!!
|

I'm not even a huge DT fan, but this was great.

This is awesome, very excited for this record

kyle is that a sneaky alt lol
|
| |
we aren't going to see him again until DT's NEXT album cycle
|
| |
that or when krallice releases their next ball of wank so he can change the avatar
|
| |
Those Amott/Reinholdz harmonies are so perfectly tasteful for DT. I hope there are moments where the two of them really get to cut loose, but I appreciate their commitment to the modern DT sound. Third listen and i'm pumped
|
| |
Yeah I only break out the alts to 5 DT records and 1 Krallice records
|
| |
this sounds like a welcome return to the early-late 2000s era DT and I love it. and Stanne sounds better than ever
|
| |
Really enjoyed that, giving me some hard Fiction/Character vibes in spots.
Stanne sounds great, the guitars sound pretty mean and the production is sweet too.
Consider me hyped!
|
| |
very enjoyable
|
| |
Really hoping the new duo got to contribute to the album, because this will likely be really good if that's the case. 4 pretty strong songwriters in one team
|
| |
Solid song but damn this band has a formula and they never deviate at all lol
|
| |
if it ain't broke don't fix it!
|
| |
Any guesses as to which guitarist is on either channel during the lead section? Amott on the left and Johan on the right?
|
| |
This sounds great. Im really excited for this.

"Any guesses as to which guitarist is on either channel during the lead section? Amott on the left and Johan on the right?"
hmm, it's 50/50 but I like guessing:
Johan on the right
Amott on the left
that's what it sounds like to me
|
| |
Goddamn this is amazing! Interesting the guitar riffs sound more like Insomnium than DT.
|
| |
I'm just happy here that one of my favourite bands is still releasing amazing music after all these years.
|
| |
Hard to believe that nearly 30 years later this band is doing their thing still and In Flames is.....well doing some other "thing". Who'd have thunk?
|
| |
Hi all! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Glad to hear some new DT! New tune is pretty killer. I hope the rest of the record is at least as good, and hopefully better! New guitars sound fresh...

I'm not a fan of the last probably 3 or so IF albums but I'll at least give them credit for never making the same album twice for better or worse. I dig DT but they can be pretty formulaic and a lot of their songs are kinda samey
|
| |
I really enjoyed that while I was listening to it but it wasn't memorable at all, I immediately forgot what it sounded like after it ended.

Yeah I kinda like it, but it's pretty safe and I wish the raspy vocals had some kind of variation, they are pretty boring and samey the whole song. Guitars are obviously the hero here. They could learn a thing or two from Soilwork, who do a somewhat similar style and don't deviate a whole ton, but they do slip some nice wrinkles in.

In Flames had the same lineup for every album from Colony to A Sense of Purpose, yet they still changed a great deal in that period. Some bands just aren't satisfied sitting still, while others prefer to stay consistent and unwavering.
|
| |
Please don't invoke the In Flames name in a DT thread
|
| |
Some bands are also not just satisfied of putting out absolute dogshit.
|
| |
Haha ben
So I asked Johan on one of his YouTube videos about which guitarist is on the left and right channels during the solo section and he said it was him on both of them.
Looking forward to hearing how both guitarists contributed

guitar harmonies still top of the line/tree/shelf
|
| |
This was awesome. i'm so happy this band is back to proper form.
